“Go and call Su Jiu and Su Yong over,” Su Xi instructed his attendants.
Su Qin and Yang Shanshan had no idea what Su Xi was planning.
Su’s current family head, Su Yong, arrived quickly, while Sujiu took about half an hour to return. As soon as he walked in, he saw that Yuan Bao was covered in whip marks, and Yang Shanshan held a bloody whip in her hand. There was no need to ask who had beaten Element.
“Did you beat Yuan Bao?” Su Jiu looked at Yang Shanshan and asked through clenched teeth.
“It’s just a servant, we beat him, so what?” Yang Shanshan said indifferently.
“Do you realize that if it weren’t for Yuan Bao, Xiao Yu might have been tortured to death by you in that incident?” Su Jiu looked at Yang Shanshan with a hateful expression.
Seeing Su Jiu look at him with such a gaze, Yang Shanshan’s brow furrowed. “What kind of look is that?”
“What look? Do you remember what happened three years ago when Xiao Yu was seriously injured? Even after Xiao Yu was severely wounded, you tortured him, worsening his injuries. He had a persistent high fever that wouldn’t subside. When Yuan Bao heard about a miraculous doctor in Mingcheng who could cure any ailment, he rode a horse all the way there to seek treatment. The doctor’s medicinal house was in the mountains, and Yuan Bao climbed the mountain from the foot of it, prostrating himself to beg for medicine. The doctor saw his sincerity and gave him the medicine. After receiving the medicine, Yuan Bao rushed back despite his injured knee. He fainted as soon as he delivered the medicine into my hands. At the time, the doctor said that if it had been any later, Yuan Bao might have been exhausted to death. Even if he had survived, his legs would have been nearly crippled.” Su Jiu pointed at Yuan Bao, who was silent on the ground, his voice hoarse.
“What were you all doing when Xiao Yu was at death’s door? Su Qin, His father took you out for fun, and both of you paid no attention to Xiao Yu’s condition. When Xiao Yu woke up and found out that Yuan Bao’s legs were almost crippled, do you know how much he hated you all?” Su Jiu looked at Yang Shanshan and her companions and said with a cold smile.
Su Qin and Yang Shanshan exchanged glances, feeling a sense of unease. How could this be possible?
“You’re talking nonsense. Xiao Yu couldn’t possibly…”
“Am I talking nonsense? Just go and ask any member of the Su family. Find out if there’s anyone who doesn’t know about this. Since then, Yuan Bao has been like a brother to Xiao Yu, just as important as me. Do you think people in the Su family show such respect to Yuan Bao for no reason? It’s because they all know that if anyone bullies Yuan Bao, Xiao Yu won’t spare them.” Su Jiu said to them.
Su Jiu frowned as he looked at Su Qin. Over the past few years, the couple had become increasingly out of control.
“You always think Xiao Yu has always been away from home. That’s only because he didn’t let you know when he came back. By the time you found out, he was already gone.”
“I know what you want to do. You just want to apologize to Xiao Yu for what’s happened over the past few years, don’t you? You think an apology means Xiao yu must come back. Who do you think you are?” Su Jiu was truly furious.
Back when he found out about Xiao Yu’s severe injuries, that he had nearly been killed by Yang Shanshan when he was already critically injured. He despised Yang Shanshan, especially when he learned that Su Qin had taken Yang Shanshan out for leisure while this was happening. His hatred for the two of them had reached its peak.
“Do you know why my Little Sister hasn’t come to see you after returning for these few years? It’s because she also hates you, hates how cruel you were to Xiao Yu,” Su Jiu said, looking at Yang Shanshan sarcastically.
All three of their children, none of them wanted to see them. It was evident just how much of a failure Su Qin and Yang Shanshan had become.
Yang Shanshan paled, looking at Su Jiu. “You…”
“You should think about how to explain Yuan Bao’s situation to Xiao Yu. Xiao yu won’t let Yuan Bao’s situation past just like that, and I don’t intend to help you hide it,” Su Jiu said. He picked up Yuan Bao, who had already fainted from the pain, and after smelling the chili pepper scent on him, Su Jiu stared hard at Yang Shanshan. “As expected of you mother, as ruthless as ever.”
Su Xi looked at the couple and shook his head in disappointment. “You will regret it sooner or later.”
Su Yong looked at the two of them and said, “The relationship between Xiao Yu and you was already very strained. Yet you dared to harm Yuan Bao? You are quite something. Su Qin, you have been these few years.”
After everyone had left, Yang Shanshan forced herself to her feet and muttered to herself, “I didn’t know any of this.”
Su Qin remained silent because he didn’t know either. It was astounding that everyone knew about these events, but these parents, who should have known, were completely ignorant.
No wonder…
It was no wonder that ever since then, their three children treated them as if they were strangers and didn’t care for them at all.
“Husband, what should we do?” Su Qin was also worried now, and she wanted to know what she should do.
Su Jiu took Yuan Bao to the mansion’s physician. When Doctor Qian saw Yuan Bao’s injuries, he couldn’t help but think of Su Yu from back then. “Young Master, did Madam inflict these injuries?”
Su Jiu nodded, and Doctor Qian said irritably, “It’s been so many years, and there hasn’t been any progress at all. If the young master finds out, who knows how angry he will be.”
Su Jiu looked at Yuan Bao. Ever since Yuan Bao nearly lost his life saving Xiao Yu and almost had his legs paralyzed, Yuan Bao had become like a brother to him, just as important as Xiao Yu.
“Uncle Qian, please treat Yuan Bao’s wounds. I’ll go write a letter to Xiao Yu.”
“Very well.”
Su Jiu returned to his own courtyard and wrote a letter to Su Yu in his study. He then had the letter sent by a messenger hawk.
On the third day in the afternoon, Su Yu received Su Jiu’s letter. When he read the contents, Su Yu slammed his fist heavily onto a nearby table.
“They dare.”
Wang Jinhe frowned as he looked at the broken table and then at Su Yu. “What’s wrong with you?”
Xiao Bao was also frightened by Su Yu’s reaction, and he reached out to hold his father’s leg. “Daddy, what’s wrong with you? Daddy is very scary when he’s angry.”
“Yang Shanshan beat Yuan Bao with a whip laced with chili oil. My brother said that Yuan Bao was covered in wounds, and if Grandfather hadn’t arrived in time, they might have beaten him to death,” Su Yu trembled, his eyes red with anger.
“What happened?”
Su Yu seemed to be very concerned about Yuanbao.
“They were trying to get information out of Yuan Bao, asking where I was, and when Yuan Bao didn’t tell them, they resorted to this method,” Su Yu handed the letter to Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe, after reading the letter, furrowed his brow. “Is your mother out of her mind?”
“Three years ago, when I was already seriously injured, she could treat me like that, let alone Yuan Bao,” Su Yu gritted his teeth.
“I’m sorry, Xiao He, but I have to go back. I can’t let this go.” Su Yu gritted his teeth.
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in astonishment. “Is Yuan Bao that important to you?”
Su Yu nodded. “Very important, just as important as you and Xiao Bao.”
