Chapter 871: I Regret It

Wang Jinhe looked at Yuan Lin’s sudden embarrassment and raised an eyebrow. “Just quite nice?”

Yuan Lin cleared his throat. “Yes, just quite nice.”

“Alright, I see,” Wang Jinhe said.

Yuan Lin looked at Wang Jinhe blankly, wondering what she meant by “alright.”

Pretending not to notice Yuan Lin’s confusion, Wang Jinhe took him back.

Throughout the journey, Yuan Lin pondered how to ask Wang Jinhe about this matter, but she remained silent, leaving Yuan Lin itching with curiosity but unable to do anything about it.

After returning to Xie Family Village, Yuan Lin couldn’t hold back and finally asked Wang Jinhe, “Madam, what do you mean by that?”

“Nothing,” Wang Jinhe suppressed a smile and said with a serious face.

Hearing this, Yuan Lin felt a bit disappointed. It wasn’t what he had hoped for.

Seeing Yuan Lin’s disappointed expression, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but feel even happier.

Seeing Wang Jinhe so happy and Yuan Lin looking dejected, Su Yu couldn’t help but wonder what had happened.

“What’s going on?” Su Yu asked curiously, looking at Wang Jinhe.

Wang Jinhe took Su Yu to the study and explained the situation to him.

After listening, Su Yu couldn’t help but smirk, a hint of helplessness in his eyes. “Is it really amusing to tease Yuan Lin like this?”

Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile. “It’s the first time I’ve seen Yuan Lin like this. It’s quite amusing indeed.”

What else could Su Yu say when he saw Wang Jinhe like this?

“When do you plan to tell him?”

“Let’s wait a few days before telling him. It just so happens I need to go over there again soon,” Wang Jinhe replied.

Hearing that Wang Jinhe was going there again, Su Yu’s mood soured.

“Why do you have to go again? You’ve been there several times already,” Su Yu said, feeling unhappy. Each time Wang Jinhe went, she would be gone for one or two days, leaving Su Yu feeling abandoned, as if he were left alone to hold down the fort.

Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but chuckle at Su Yu’s mournful expression. She reached out, pinching his cheeks and shaking them gently from side to side. “Aren’t you being too melodramatic?”

Su Yu glanced at Wang Jinhe. “You’re always gone for several days each time.”

Wang Jinhe was immediately indignant. “How could I be gone for several days? I only went for two days this time.”

Su Yu’s face darkened, looking displeased with Wang Jinhe. “Two days still isn’t enough for you?”

Wang Jinhe cleared her throat. “It’s enough. It’s fine like this.”

With a huff, Su Yu pulled Wang Jinhe into an embrace. “I don’t want you to go out.”

But Su Yu also understood that when Wang Jinhe went out, she was doing important work, not just having fun. He reluctantly nodded in agreement, but he didn’t like the idea of Wang Jinhe frequently leaving.

“I’ll try not to go out often. If I do, it’ll be for necessary matters,” Wang Jinhe assured him.

“I’ll send these kids to the academy in a few days and let the teachers there take care of them. That way, I can accompany you wherever you need to go,” Su Yu suggested, feeling quite pleased with his idea.

Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu with a mix of amusement and exasperation, reaching out to pinch his cheek with a hint of a headache. “Don’t say such things.”

“The future of those children is important. How could you suggest such a thing?” Wang Jinhe said, slightly annoyed.

For the first time, Su Yu regretted bringing so many children with him.

Wasn’t he just creating trouble for himself?

“What’s with that expression?” Why did Su Yu seem regretful?

“Xiaohe, I regret it,” Su Yu confessed.

Wang Jinhe’s mouth twitched as she looked at Su Yu. “If you have such capabilities, don’t always think about slacking off. But if you want to send them to the academy, it’s also fine. After all, the teachers at the academy are quite competent.”

Wang Jinhe knew that the few teachers Su Yu had brought were indeed capable individuals.

If they were to earnestly teach these children, there would be no problem.

She also understood that Su Yu’s suggestion stemmed from the increasing workload he faced. After all, Su Yu wasn’t someone with nothing to do all day.

“I originally planned to take them for just a month. After that, I’ll send them to the academy, where they can learn things that I can’t teach them here,” Su Yu explained. Sending the children to the academy wasn’t solely to spend more time alone with Wang Jinhe; it was because it was a path they inevitably had to take sooner or later. Besides, Su Yu had his own matters to attend to and couldn’t spare the time to teach them in such detail.

“Is there something you need to do?” Wang Jinhe asked Su Yu, noticing his busy schedule.

Su Yu nodded. “There are indeed some things I need to take care of.” If it wasn’t necessary, they wouldn’t have sought him out.

Wang Jinhe felt a bit worried. “How are things going?”

“Don’t worry, it’s not too difficult, just a bit troublesome,” Su Yu reassured her.

Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu seriously for a while before nodding. “Since you say so, then it’s fine.”

“Afterwards, make sure to inform the children, so they don’t misunderstand,” Wang Jinhe added. It would be a real blunder if they ended up causing a misunderstanding later.

“I will,” Su Yu affirmed.

Ten days later, after teaching Xiao Bao and the others, Su Yu looked at them and said, “Starting tomorrow, you will all go to the academy together.”

Xiao Bao and Hong Yi didn’t have much of a reaction, but Ming Feiyang and the others curiously asked, “Master, why?”

“I have some matters to attend to and don’t have as much time to continue teaching you. The teachers at the academy are all outstanding individuals whom I specifically invited. You’ll learn a lot by following them,” Su Yu explained briefly.

The group sighed in relief, thinking it might have been because they were too untalented that Master didn’t want to teach them anymore.

Upon hearing Su Yu’s explanation, Xiao Bao sighed lightly, feeling somewhat frustrated and worried.

“What’s wrong?” Xiao Zhi asked, puzzled by Xiao Bao’s demeanor.

“I don’t really want to go to the academy,” Xiao Bao confessed. There were always troublemakers who wanted to cause problems for him.

Listening to Xiao Bao’s words, Xiao Zhi paused for a moment, then thought about the people at the academy.

“You’ve been away for so long, and you’ve been studying with the teachers for such a long time. They shouldn’t keep coming to bother you,” Xiao Zhi said, clearly recalling the incidents at the academy before they returned to the capital last year.

Xiao Bao looked at Xiao Zhi silently, silently asking if what he said was true.

Hong Yi tugged at Xiao Bao’s clothes and tilted his head. “If you don’t like it, you don’t have to pay attention to those people.”

“Hong Yi’s right. There’s no need to waste our time on those people,” Xiao Zhi agreed.

“Okay.”

The next day, Xiao Bao and the others started attending classes at the academy. Their classmates were delighted to see them return and came over to chat with them. Xiao Bao also introduced Ming Feiyang and the others to their classmates.

Because of Xiao Bao and the others’ presence, Ming Feiyang and his friends quickly got along well with the others in their class.

As soon as class ended, someone blocked Xiao Bao and the others’ path.

Looking at the person blocking their way, Xiao Bao’s eyes showed his displeasure.

“What’s the matter?” Xiao Bao asked coldly, looking at the person in front of him with impatience in his eyes.

“Su Zhiqin, it’s been so long since you’ve come. Are you afraid of me?”
