The Little Monk of the God of War’s Household
LMGW Chapter 49: Taking the Initiative

The next day, Sun Tu decided to end his friendship with He Qing when he found out that He Qing had bought a pretty golden fish.

Sun Tu stared at the small fish tank with disdain, “You definitely think that goldfish is better looking.”

He Qing explained, “I don’t… it’s the General’s fish.”

Sun Tu eyed him, “The General’s fish is basically yours too, isn’t it?”

He Qing smiled slightly, “But you’re not the General’s fish.”

“True.” Sun Tu paused, realizing it made sense, then turned and left, muttering, “Never mind what I said.” After going back, Sun Tu thought about it more and more, feeling like something was off, but he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what.

–

When they returned to Capital Star, there were many people outside cheering and throwing flowers to celebrate their victory over the Zerg.

“Congratulations, General, for your triumphant return!”

“General! General! Can I get your autograph?”

“General, what’s your take on this recent battle?” Reporters also crowded forward, eager for a comment.

Without a word, Duan Chenhui grabbed He Qing’s hand and walked away. He didn’t even give He Qing a chance to say goodbye to Sun Tu before he shoved him into the hover car, like a kidnapping.

He Qing noticed that the hover car was flying in the opposite direction of the villa and looked at Duan Chenhui, who was still in his military uniform. “General, where are we going?”

“To register.” Duan Chenhui adjusted his tie calmly. “We can’t live together without being married, not if one of us is an Omega.” He glanced at He Qing, “Unless you still want to live separately?”

“…” He Qing chuckled, “Of course not. I’m a very traditional person.” So the General was planning to trick him into getting re-married; he’d thought the General was going to sell him off.

“Good.” Duan Chenhui nodded, and the car didn’t slow down at all. Soon, they arrived at the registration office.

Following Duan Chenhui inside, He Qing was met with the stares of countless onlookers, even more enthusiastic than the first time they’d come here.

Amitabha, it’s our second marriage after all…

They found the queue and waited. The efficiency of interstellar bureaucracy was high, and it wasn’t long before it was their turn.

Duan Chenhui handed over the paperwork he had prepared in advance.

He Qing glanced at it in surprise. Did the General carry this with him everywhere, ready to remarry at any time?

The staff took the documents, checked them, and after confirming there were no issues, they looked at the two curiously and handed them forms. “Please sign these, and then go inside for your photo.”

“Thank you.” Duan Chenhui picked up a pen and signed smoothly.

He Qing glanced over, then signed just as easily. After signing, Duan Chenhui pulled him over to take their photo, and they left the registration office in one fluid motion.

Sitting in the hover car, He Qing chuckled, “General, we’re trending again.”

Duan Chenhui glanced at the screen, “As expected.”

He Qing looked down at the headlines on the screen.

#Shocking! Zerg Retreat!#

#Surprise! General Duan and He Qing Remarry!#

#Breaking! He Qing Played a Key Role in Destroying the Zerg Mothers and Will Be Awarded an Honor by the Military.#

[First of all, congrats to the General! And then, wow, is this a case of hardship revealing true love? How long has it even been, and they’re already remarried?!]

[Damn! I heard they took down several Zerg mothers as big as carriers!]

[My god! Is that even possible for humans?]

[Not sure, but someone posted photos. It really happened. The General was planning to go down with the Zerg, but somehow escaped [photo]. In the end, there’s just a huge crater!]

[Holy crap, they roasted the Zerg mother? It even looks like it smells delicious [just kidding]]

[All I can say is amazing… Best wishes, 99!!]

[Blessings, 99!!]

He Qing liked all the posts congratulating them, and once they arrived home, he immediately ran to the pond to check on the koi fish. After feeding the koi, he looked at the little goldfish he had brought home.

Duan Chenhui glanced at the koi and commented, “That goldfish is too small. It should go in the house tank.”

“I agree.” He Qing had been thinking the same. The little goldfish might get eaten… He carried the goldfish inside while the housekeeper greeted them.

“General, Mr. He, will you be having dinner at home tonight?”

“We will.” After speaking to the housekeeper, Duan Chenhui turned to He Qing, “I’m going to take a bath. You can have some snacks first.”

“Okay.” He Qing placed the small fish tank into the larger one.

Duan Chenhui watched for a moment before heading upstairs. In his room, he opened the bathroom, undressed, and looked down at his leg. To his surprise, the insect venom was slowly receding.

He had thought He Qing was joking at first.

Duan Chenhui turned on the shower, closed his eyes, and let the warm water wash over his face. But who exactly was He Qing?

After his bath, Duan Chenhui changed into casual clothes and went downstairs. He Qing was still standing in front of the fish tank, watching the little goldfish, so he walked over and glanced at it as well. The goldfish seemed to be adapting well and was quite lively.

“Don’t worry, it probably won’t die,” Duan Chenhui reassured He Qing.

He Qing shook his head and stopped watching the fish. “Its life and death are up to fate.”

Duan Chenhui was momentarily speechless. Sometimes the things He Qing said were quite frustrating. “Well, stop looking at it. Let’s go eat.”

“Mm, I’ll wash my hands.” He Qing went to wash up.

Duan Chenhui sat in the dining room, waiting for him. He gazed at the distant sunset and squinted slightly, feeling a rare sense of peace. After a while, He Qing returned and sat down.

“General, I’ll be focusing on cultivation at home for a while.”

“That’s fine. You could join the military directly now,” Duan Chenhui said, eyeing He Qing, who looked radiant, though he was still far from “success.” He Qing was still sleeping in a separate room.

“Is that a direct hire?” He Qing asked, pondering. “I’ll think about it.” He didn’t have his magic, so how could he join the military?

“It’s not mandatory,” Duan Chenhui reassured him. After dinner, they sat on the sofa and watched TV together. When it was time to sleep, He Qing headed upstairs promptly and went back to his old room.

“Good night, General.”

“…Good night.” Duan Chenhui stood by the door, a moment too late. He was silent for a bit before returning to his room.

Several days passed, and Duan Chenhui had been looking for a chance to talk to He Qing, but the right moment never seemed to come.

One day, a package arrived. It was from his brother, though Duan Chenhui had no idea what it was. He took a small knife to open the box while He Qing came over to watch.

Duan Chenhui didn’t mind. There was nothing to hide. He opened the box, glanced inside, and immediately closed it—it was one of those life-like dolls!

“…” He turned to look at He Qing.

He Qing stared back, wide-eyed. “…” So the General had unfulfilled desires?

Duan Chenhui slapped the box shut. “He Qing, look me in the eyes. I did not order that.”

“I understand.” He Qing took another quick peek at the giant box but avoided looking Duan Chenhui in the eyes.

“But your eyes say you don’t believe me,” Duan Chenhui said with a grim smile.

“My heart believes you,” He Qing replied firmly. “Trust me, General!”

Duan Chenhui felt like even if he jumped into the Yellow River, he wouldn’t be able to clear his name. He decided to go all in, saying decisively, “Then move into my room tonight.” He gestured for the robots to carry the box upstairs.

“!!” He Qing watched in shock as the robots moved the doll upstairs, and then watched as his own bedding was moved into the master bedroom.

He turned to look at Duan Chenhui, hesitating for a moment. “I’ve been careless.”

“Hmm?” Duan Chenhui raised an eyebrow.

“Nothing, I didn’t say anything.” He Qing quickly ran off, finding a quiet corner where he sat down and counted his prayer beads. After a long while, he sighed and closed the box. They were supposed to be sleeping together now.

Having thought it through, He Qing put away the prayer beads. However, he suddenly came up with a way to turn the tables.
