Chapter 54
Hearing Sheng Qingli finally agree, Pei Qingci lowered his eyelashes, cupping her face, unable to help but continue kissing her.
After a while, Sheng Qingli pushed his face away a bit, softly saying, “Don’t kiss me anymore.”
If they continued, they wouldn’t need to go to their next destination.
Pei Qingci understood her meaning; he slightly lowered his head, resting his forehead against hers.
Their warm, heated breaths intertwined, lingering.
After calming their rapidly beating hearts and catching their breath, they continued their short trip.
That day, the two of them climbed the Jungfrau hand in hand.
After descending from the Jungfrau, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci went to Grindelwald, where they planned to stay for a night in this picturesque location.
It was just five o’clock when they came down.
Sheng Qingli checked the time and started selecting photos. She and Pei Qingci had taken quite a few pictures, some of which they had taken of each other, but they wouldn’t post photos with similar backgrounds.
Fans knew the two were filming in Switzerland; their IPs could be the same, but the backgrounds couldn’t completely overlap.
Netizens today are like Sherlock Holmes; if the backgrounds are the same, they wouldn’t even need to reveal it themselves.
After selecting the photos, Sheng Qingli tilted her head to look at Pei Qingci, “When do you plan to post?”
Pei Qingci thought for a moment, “You tonight, I’ll post tomorrow.”
Sheng Qingli’s eyes curved with a smile, “Then I won’t bother you.”
Pei Qingci grinned, “Okay.”
At six o’clock, which was the first day of the New Year in China, Sheng Qingli posted the photos, wishing her fans and netizens a happy New Year and all the best.
As soon as she posted on Weibo, there were a lot of fan comments.
“Ahhhh! I knew Lili would post pictures! Happy New Year, so happy to receive such beautiful photos!”
“My wife is too beautiful! Happy New Year.”
“Come on, wife! You have to keep acting for us in the New Year!”
“Happy New Year, Lili!”
“Switzerland is so beautiful; I wish my wife smooth filming and a blockbuster movie!”
“Since Lili has posted on Weibo, how far can Mr. Pei be?”
“Ahhhh! Lili is stunning!!”
“Wow, wow, wow! These few photos of Lili are so beautiful. Did the assistant take them? It doesn’t feel like the composition and lighting match.”
…
When Sheng Qingli saw this comment, her heart sank a bit.
No way.
Could the fans really notice that?
She felt a little flustered, but thankfully, this comment quickly got buried in the sea of replies and disappeared.
Sheng Qingli let out a breath and turned to the person driving beside her, saying, “Fans are so sensitive.”
Pei Qingci raised an eyebrow and said softly, “If you’re worried, I don’t have to post.”
“…”
Sheng Qingli was indeed a bit concerned. After thinking for a moment, she looked at him and asked, “Are you posting from Zurich?”
Since they were filming in Zurich, if they posted photos from there, the fans shouldn’t think too much.
What Sheng Qingli didn’t know was that no matter whether the backgrounds of the photos she and Pei Qingci posted were the same or not, or whether they were at different spots, the CP fans could always come up with stories that left her astounded.
Hearing her say that, Pei Qingci nodded without objection.
After arriving in Grindelwald and checking in, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci first settled down for dinner.
After dinner, the two took a stroll around the area before returning to the hotel to rest.
After a simple wash-up, Sheng Qingli began selecting photos for Pei Qingci.
“How many do you want to post?” she asked Pei Qingci.
Pei Qingci glanced up. “Post as many as you like.”
He left it entirely to her.
Sheng Qingli responded with an “Oh,” taking the phone he handed her. “So you mean, I should post for you?”
Pei Qingci said, “If you’re willing to.”
Sheng Qingli was naturally willing, but she thought about it; his Weibo was mostly followed by his fans, so it didn’t seem appropriate for her to send out blessings on his behalf.
“I’ll choose them for you, and you can post them after you finish your shower.”
Pei Qingci smiled gently. “Okay.”
Choosing Pei Qingci’s photos didn’t require much effort; his face and figure looked good in any shot.
Sheng Qingli felt a sense of admiration as she selected the photos.
Twenty minutes later, Pei Qingci emerged from the bathroom.
Sheng Qingli handed the phone back to him. “I’ve picked them. Take a look.”
“No need to look,” Pei Qingci replied decisively as he quickly edited the Weibo post and sent it out.
Sheng Qingli: “…”
She chuckled and calculated the time. “It’s only a little after five back home.”
Pei Qingci nodded and affectionately rubbed his nose against hers. “Ms. Sheng.”
Feeling his warm breath, Sheng Qingli’s long eyelashes fluttered. “What?”
The two had already exchanged New Year’s greetings with each other at midnight back home.
At this moment, Pei Qingci probably wasn’t looking for her blessing. As Sheng Qingli pondered this, Pei Qingci had already captured her lips and kissed her, inviting her, “Shall we celebrate a New Year that’s a bit different?”
Sheng Qingli opened her mouth, but before she could ask how it would be different, Pei Qingci sealed her lips.
That New Year’s Eve, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci indulged in each other.
The suppressed desires that had been building since the foot of the mountain were ignited and lingered for a long time. With Pei Qingci around, Sheng Qingli didn’t even need to find familiar bed sheets to feel drowsy.
She often felt exhausted, with no time to be picky.
The next day, after waking up, Sheng Qingli received several messages from Li Yuwei sent a few hours earlier: “Were the photos on Pei laoshi’s Weibo selected by you?”
In an instant, the dazed Sheng Qingli became alert.
She quickly replied to Li Yuwei with a few question marks.
After replying, she noticed there were no messages from Lin Lin or missed calls, which eased her mind a little.
The fans shouldn’t have noticed; it was just that Li Yuwei was familiar with her shooting compositions and photo styles, which led her to think it was Sheng Qingli who chose them.
As expected, Li Yuwei quickly replied, “Your style is very obvious.”
Sheng Qingli: “… A few of them were actually taken by the assistant.”
She specifically chose a few shots that they took of Pei Qingci in Zurich to create a semblance of authenticity.
Li Yuwei: “I can tell.”
Sheng Qingli: “… I’m afraid to check the comments. No one noticed, right?”
Li Yuwei: “The regular fans won’t notice, but the CP fans start ‘spreading rumors’ with just a hint. Do you know what your CP fan thread is saying?”
Sheng Qingli: “What?”
Li Yuwei: “They say you two are on your honeymoon in Switzerland. I peeked in early this morning… Don’t say, the honeymoon mini-drama is really well written, very explicit.”
Sheng Qingli: “…”
Before she could respond, Li Yuwei asked, “Do you want to see it? I can save it in the fan thread for you.”
Sheng Qingli replied expressionlessly, “No need, thanks.”
Li Yuwei sent a laughing emoji in response.
Sheng Qingli was momentarily speechless, thinking about what she and Pei Qingci did last night—it seemed a bit absurd.
With that thought, she felt a little guilty.
After ending the conversation with Li Yuwei, Sheng Qingli hesitated for a moment before clicking on Weibo.
She went to Pei Qingci’s Weibo and immediately saw the photos he posted last night. Sheng Qingli had only chosen six, two of which she had taken, and the backgrounds were not very clear.
Despite these six different styled photos, they had already garnered hundreds of thousands of comments and shares, with likes exceeding a million.
Sheng Qingli cautiously clicked on the comments. The top comments were all from regular fans, praising how handsome her “husband” was, which was about what she expected.
Scrolling down, she found a few comments from CP fans.
They were a bit explicit, but seemed somewhat acceptable.
After reading, Sheng Qingli finally felt relieved.
The two of them were fine as long as the Weibo photos didn’t get exposed.
When Pei Qingci walked in from outside, he saw Sheng Qingli looking worried.
He raised an eyebrow and walked to her side. “What’s wrong?”
Sheng Qingli shook her head and looked up at him, saying, “I think it’s better if we don’t post any more photos for a while.”
“…”
Pei Qingci understood her meaning. He hummed, kissed her soft lips, and asked, “Are you hungry? Want to get something to eat?”
Sheng Qingli: “… I’m hungry.”
After breakfast, the two continued on to their next destination.
During their two-day vacation, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci’s short trip was fulfilling and enjoyable.
On the second day of the New Year, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci returned to the set to work.
They both prepared red envelopes for the staff, as did Wan Hongru and Wu Nuanshu.
After the holiday, it was a bit challenging for them to get back into the swing of things.
After some time, they gradually found their rhythm.
Sang Xue and Heng Yi, who arrived in Switzerland, like Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci, visited numerous attractions.
They walked around, taking photos, leaving traces of their journey together.
At the foot of the Alps, there was evidence of their love.
The last scene in the script was filmed one evening.
At that time, Sang Xue and Heng Yi were visiting Zermatt, a uniquely named small town. Bicycles were prohibited here, and it was a popular ski resort in winter.
Having been with Heng Yi for a long time, Sang Xue knew that before his leg injury, he was an excellent skier. He had also skied here before.
The two of them arrived in Zermatt and checked into a snow-covered lodge.
From the window of the lodge, they could see the snow and overlook the entire scenery of Zermatt.
They stayed there for a few days.
Due to his leg injury, Heng Yi couldn’t go out often. His wheelchair was difficult to maneuver in the snow.
Sang Xue would occasionally go out.
Every time she left, Heng Yi worried that she might not return.
Fortunately, she came back at the agreed time every day.
After staying there for half a month, Sang Xue learned how to ski.
With a beaming smile, she looked at Heng Yi and said she wanted to ski for him—something he could no longer do. She would do it for him.
Heng Yi agreed.
That day, Sang Xue put on her skis and slid down from a high place. Heng Yi watched from a distance. After seeing her familiar figure land safely, he felt relieved.
However, not long after he let go of that worry, he began to feel a bit sad again.
After Sang Xue had enough fun, they returned to the lodge.
“It’s so cold,” Sang Xue said, snuggling up to Heng Yi’s arm. “Are you cold?”
Heng Yi reached out, his gaze filled with reluctance. He slowly shook his head and softly replied, “Not cold.”
Sang Xue smiled brightly. “Really not cold?”
Heng Yi nodded, lowering his eyes to call her, “Sang Xue.”
“Hmm?” Sang Xue looked up at him, her eyes sparkling, just like when they first met. “What’s wrong?”
Heng Yi paused for a few seconds, resting his forehead against hers, his voice slightly deep, “It’s nothing. Let’s eat first, and go to bed early tonight?”
Sang Xue replied, “Okay.”
She said, “I’ll cook. I haven’t made you dinner in a long time.”
During their time away, Sang Xue hadn’t stepped into a kitchen.
Heng Yi gazed at her, his throat a bit hoarse. “Alright.”
He softly said, “I want to eat the noodles you make.”
Sang Xue responded, “Then I’ll make you noodles.”
Sang Xue personally cooked, and they enjoyed a very nice dinner in the lodge.
After eating, they cuddled on the sofa and watched television for a while. Outside, it had started to snow heavily, and looking out the window felt like being in a fairy tale.
“I’m a bit sleepy,” Sang Xue said, hugging Heng Yi. “Shall we go to sleep?”
Heng Yi looked down at her and said okay.
They returned to their room to rest.
Suddenly, Sang Xue kissed Heng Yi’s lips again. Her passion was overwhelming for him, and the room filled with suggestive sounds.
It was a more intense bed scene.
It was also the last bed scene for Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci.
They filmed it three times before finally getting it right.
After the scene, Wan Hongru glanced out the window. “It’s still snowing.”
Sheng Qingli replied, “Should I go out now?”
Wan Hongru thought for a moment. “Wait, let me check the situation.”
In the script, after Sang Xue lulled Heng Yi to sleep, she put on her clothes and went outside. On that snowy night, the path she walked was covered in pristine white snow, leaving no trace. She walked for a long time and discovered that Heng Yi was already waiting for her at the peak.
It was at this moment that Sang Xue realized Heng Yi had always known her plan and understood her thoughts.
The last dialogue in the script was spoken by Heng Yi to Sang Xue—
He asked her, “Do you remember something I once told you?”
Sang Xue asked, “What?”
“I said that no matter what decision you make, I will respect it. Wherever you are, I will be with you.”
So, whether Sang Xue chose to end her life or continue living, Heng Yi would be by her side.
If she died, he would die. If she lived, then he would live too.
When he was in the car accident that rendered him unable to walk, Heng Yi had thought about dying but didn’t succeed.
When he was at the garden villa, he had also thought about dying. It was precisely when he contemplated death that he met the fairy girl who had entered the garden.
It was that girl, blessed by the moonlight, who gave him the desire to live.
If it weren’t for Sang Xue, he would have already died during his treatment in Germany.
During his treatment, he briefly lost his memory and forgot Sang Xue. However, every time he thought about leaving, he would always remember that he had unfulfilled wishes; he seemed to have promised someone to live, to return home to see her, to be with her.
Sang Xue silently shed tears.
She was in so much pain.
Her father had passed away, she was forced to marry Feng Qingyu, then was driven out by the Feng family, and her mother had also died.
All these events piled up, crushing Sang Xue.
If Heng Yi hadn’t reappeared, perhaps after her mother’s death, she would have already left this world. But now, she had stolen many beautiful and radiant moments, and she wanted to leave.
Heng Yi looked at her and smiled gently. “Sang Xue, don’t cry. Actually, I really want to leave with you.”
He didn’t want to morally bind her; he genuinely wanted to be with her.
If his future life did not have Sang Xue, Heng Yi wouldn’t be able to live for long. He had sensed her plan long ago when she suggested going abroad. In recent times, he had already arranged everything.
In the final scene, they shot at the snowy peak.
The snow howled past as they stood and sat there.
The film provided an open-ended conclusion.
Heng Yi reached out his hand to Sang Xue, and she placed her hand in his palm. They held hands, and no one knew whether they jumped off together to leave this world or stayed behind to continue enjoying their unique world as a couple.
After the final scene was filmed, Sheng Qingli couldn’t hold back her tears.
Sang Xue had suffered too much.
From Sang Xue’s perspective, she experienced her entire life. She couldn’t bear to think about whether she could have persevered through so many hardships if it had been her own life.
Pei Qingci knew she was an emotional person; he reached out and pulled her into his embrace without saying a word.
The surrounding staff watched in silence.
After a long while, everyone finished for the day and returned to the snow lodge.
The next day, a group of people descended the mountain.
Before wrapping up the movie, the crew went to Lucerne to film a few remaining scenes and included an Easter egg at the end of the film.
They visited a famous local chocolate shop, sat on a bench by the lawn soaking up the sun. Sheng Qingli pushed the wheelchair of Heng Yi and strolled over Lucerne’s flower bridge, watching the doves soar high and the clear lake water.
After these scenes were shot, the movie officially wrapped.
Hearing the cheers of the crew, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci exchanged smiles and accepted the flowers presented by the staff. They took a group photo to commemorate the wrap.
“Happy wrap!!”
“May the movie be a big hit!”
“…”
After the photos, everyone finished work and returned to the hotel.
Knowing that it wasn’t easy for everyone to come to Switzerland, Wan Hongru kindly left two days for shopping, allowing them to explore the area before heading back home together.
On the wrap day, Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci didn’t go anywhere and headed straight back to the hotel.
The next day, Sheng Qingli took Tong Tong and Wu Nuanshu out shopping. Pei Qingci wanted to accompany them but was refused by Sheng Qingli. It was too obvious; even if the crew wouldn’t gossip, they still needed to be a bit careful.
Left behind, Pei Qingci had no choice but to go shopping with Director Wan.
After getting into the car with Wu Nuanshu, Sheng Qingli eagerly turned to her, “Ms. Wu, you still haven’t told me the ending of the story!”
After reading the script’s conclusion, Sheng Qingli asked Wu Nuanshu whether they lived or died in the end.
Wu Nuanshu said she’d tell her after filming was done, and now that it was finished, she felt she needed to know the outcome.
Wu Nuanshu laughed at her eagerness and helplessly said, “Why are you in such a hurry?”
Sheng Qingli replied, “I’m just impatient.”
Wu Nuanshu looked at her, paused for a moment, and asked, “Do you think they’re alive or gone?”
Sheng Qingli contemplated for a while and silently shook her head, “I don’t know.”
She hoped that Sang Xue and Heng Yi were alive; they still had many places to visit. However, Sang Xue had truly suffered too much. Ever since her father passed away and she married Feng Qingyu, she had been unable to sleep for nights on end; she couldn’t rest, and she had fallen ill.
Later, she suffered the blow of losing her mother. Her mental state had already collapsed, and accompanying Heng Yi to Germany and then Switzerland was something she was barely holding together through sheer willpower.
Ending her life equated to ending her suffering.
On one hand, Sheng Qingli felt that her departure would bring her more happiness; on the other hand, she was reluctant to let her go.
Wu Nuanshu was not surprised by her response.
After a long silence, she patted the back of Sheng Qingli’s hand and said, “When you return to the country, Ms. Wu will take you to meet them.”
Sheng Qingli’s eyes lit up, “Are they still alive?”
Wu Nuanshu shook her head.
Sheng Qingli’s smile froze, and Wu Nuanshu smiled lightly, “I can only tell you that they jumped together that night.”
“…”
Sheng Qingli’s breath caught, feeling a bit helpless as she said, “Ms. Wu, you can’t tease me like that.”
Wu Nuanshu chuckled, patted her head, and said, “So Ms. Wu wants to tell you one thing.”
Sheng Qingli asked, “What is it?”
“Enjoy the moment.” She had already noticed the undercurrents between her and Pei Qingci.
Sheng Qingli was taken aback, “Okay, I understand.”
Wu Nuanshu nodded, “When you return, remember to visit me and Director Zhong often.”
Sheng Qingli replied, “Definitely.”
After chatting for a while, the three of them shifted into shopping mode.
Sheng Qingli bought quite a few things. While shopping, she was recognized by some fans and took photos with them. When she and Wu Nuanshu returned to the hotel, Lin Lin told her she had made it to the trending topics after being spotted by fans.
Sheng Qingli said, “I figured as much.”
She told Lin Lin, “I was out shopping with Ms. Wu; it should be fine.”
Lin Lin responded, “I’ll pick you up at the airport the day after tomorrow.”
Sheng Qingli replied, “Alright.”
After chatting for a while, they hung up the phone.
After the call, Sheng Qingli took a look at Weibo. Before she could click on her trending topic, she first saw a familiar name.
Sheng Qingli paused and clicked into the topic to see what was going on, then screenshot it and sent it to Pei Qingci: “Did you do this?”
The trending topic featured explosive revelations from Pei Qingci’s former manager, Teng Wenhua. After Pei Qingci terminated his contract, Teng Wenhua had been trying to promote a more outstanding artist than Pei Qingci but faced continuous setbacks.
To elevate his own artist and earn more, Teng Wenhua resorted to underhanded tactics, arranging for artists to attend banquets, drink, and even drugging them to please certain investors, among other things.
Over the years, similar news about artists had occasionally surfaced, but the hype quickly died down.
Until now, a somewhat well-known male actor had collected complete evidence and reported it to the police, leading to an investigation into Teng Wenhua. During the investigation, there was not much online buzz, and Sheng Qingli was unaware of the situation.
Today, the investigation results came out: the evidence of Teng Wenhua’s actions was irrefutable, and he was dealt with according to the law. Under pressure, Teng Wenhua admitted to his crimes.
This news erupted, and many netizens exclaimed that the entertainment industry was too dark and deep.
They also began to worry whether their own artists had been treated in a similar way.
Not surprisingly, it wasn’t long before Pei Qingci also appeared on the trending topics.
Some netizens said it’s no wonder he wanted to terminate his contract with Teng Wenhua and the former company; it must be for this reason.
Sheng Qingli checked the situation online, and Pei Qingci replied to her message: “I only provided some resources.”
Sheng Qingli blinked: “For example?”
Pei Qingci: “A lawyer and some evidence.”
Sheng Qingli was taken aback and asked, “Did you know about this beforehand?”
Pei Qingci: “Yes.”
Sheng Qingli: “He wouldn’t have arranged a similar dinner for you, would he?”
Pei Qingci: “He did.”
Sheng Qingli: “So?”
Pei Qingci: “Your boyfriend is very clean.”
Sheng Qingli was both amused and exasperated: “… I never doubted that. What I meant was, how did you manage to leave?”
Pei Qingci: “I ran into some familiar elders.”
Even if he hadn’t, Pei Qingci wasn’t that foolish. He knew Teng Wenhua had ulterior motives and wouldn’t fall for it.
The two chatted a bit more about Teng Wenhua.
Direction Rong called Pei Qingci, and they ended their conversation.
An hour later, Pei Qingci’s studio released a statement saying they had no connection to the incident and had terminated their partnership years ago.
On Weibo, Pei Qingci’s popularity started to decline.
However, Teng Wenhua was discussed for a long time.
The next day, Pei Qingci and Sheng Qingli secretly went out for a meeting.
They went paragliding, taking in the beauty of Lucerne and Switzerland as they jumped from high above. This was something Sheng Qingli had always wanted to try but didn’t dare to do alone.
With Pei Qingci as company, she finally had the courage to try.
The next day, a group of people flew back to the country.
Fans knew the two were returning today, and they had checked their flight information early.
The airport was packed, almost impossible to navigate.
Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci struggled to get into their car to leave.
Once in the car, she rubbed her face and said, “Why are there so many fans today?”
Lin Lin turned back to glance and whispered, “You and Pei Qingci have been in the group for too long, and the fans haven’t seen you for a while. It’s a rare opportunity, so they all came out.”
She had called for airport security long ago.
However, the number of fans still exceeded expectations.
Sheng Qingli held her forehead and pulled out her phone, saying, “I want to post something on Weibo.”
Lin Lin understood her intent: “If you want to post, just go ahead.”
Sheng Qingli agreed and edited her Weibo post.
This wasn’t the first time she called on fans not to come to the airport to greet them; if there was an opportunity, she would take the initiative to meet everyone. It was fine when there were few people at the airport, but when there were many, it would disrupt order, affect others, and possibly pose safety risks.
After posting, Sheng Qingli saw that Pei Qingci immediately liked it.
She was momentarily speechless and couldn’t help but send a question mark to the other car.
Pei Qingci: “I agree with what Ms. Sheng said.”
Sheng Qingli: “Aren’t you afraid the fans will eat us alive?”
Pei Qingci: “Not really.”
Pei Qingci: “Should I come find you later?”
Sheng Qingli: “… No.”
Pei Qingci: “Why?”
Sheng Qingli: “We’ve been together for over three months now. Aren’t you tired of it?”
Pei Qingci: “?”
Pei Qingci: “So Ms. Sheng gets tired of me after just over three months.”
Sheng Qingli: “…”
For some reason, she felt Pei Qingci’s words had a hint of sarcasm.
After a few seconds of silence, Sheng Qingli explained: “That’s not what I meant. I just wanted to say there are too many people watching us now, let’s take a few days to cool off and adjust to the time difference.”
Pei Qingci: “You don’t want the trophy anymore?”
While on set, Sheng Qingli had been constantly talking about the trophy.
The trophy had been sent back to her home for safekeeping, and whenever they thought of it, they could only watch videos to satisfy their cravings.
So when they wrapped up the film, they had quietly discussed that they wanted to go get the trophy as soon as they got back.
Sheng Qingli: “I do want it.”
She thought for a moment: “Tomorrow?”
Pei Qingci: “Okay.”
They made their plans, and Sheng Qingli put down her phone, meeting Lin Lin’s gaze.
Feeling a little guilty, she bit her lip and feigned calmness: “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Lin Lin: “Any news about Mr. Pei?”
Sheng Qingli nodded.
Lin Lin glanced at her, and after a few seconds of silence, she said, “Just remember to tell me before you go public.”
Sheng Qingli smiled brightly: “Got it.”
Sheng Qingli had just returned from filming, and Lin Lin gave her a few days off to adjust to the time difference and unwind.
She knew how difficult it had been to film this movie and how tortured the character was. Sheng Qingli was always one to immerse herself in her roles, so she would have a harder time disconnecting from such a character.
And that was indeed the case.
That evening, Pei Qingci showed up at Sheng Qingli’s house in the dead of night, bringing the trophy with him.
In the following days, the two didn’t go anywhere but stayed home, passing time absurdly.
Perhaps it was because Pei Qingci was beside her, and with him keeping her company, Sheng Qingli quickly managed to disconnect from her character, even without needing a psychologist’s guidance.
In response, Lin Lin remarked, “Had I known Pei Qingci had this effect, I would have tried to get you two back together earlier.”
Sheng Qingli: “…”
Honestly, she wasn’t surprised that Lin Lin thought this way.
“I won’t talk to you anymore.” After thinking for a while, Sheng Qingli said, “I’m hanging up.”
Lin Lin: “Wait.”
Sheng Qingli: “What’s wrong?”
“You’ll have to get back to work next week,” Lin Lin reminded her.
Sheng Qingli: “Okay, send me the schedule.”
After hanging up, Pei Qingci walked out of the kitchen.
Seeing her looking sluggish, he waved at her: “What’s wrong?”
Sheng Qingli let out a soft sigh and said, “I have to get back to work next week.”
Pei Qingci chuckled lightly, raising an eyebrow, “Don’t want to work?”
“Exactly,” Sheng Qingli replied. “I just want to lie flat.”
Pei Qingci said, “That’s fine.”
He gently kissed the corner of her lips, “I’ll accompany you.”
Sheng Qingli raised an eyebrow, confused. “Why aren’t you saying that line?”
“What line?” Pei Qingci asked.
Sheng Qingli replied, “Something like, ‘I’ll support you.'”
She shot him a sideways glance, “If a girlfriend says she wants to lie flat, any other man would definitely say something like ‘I’ll support you.'”
Pei Qingci was left speechless.
As he listened to Sheng Qingli’s complaints, he couldn’t help but chuckle, “Do you need me to support you?”
Sheng Qingli thought for three seconds. “Not really, but you have to say it.”
Pei Qingci looked at her with an understanding expression and said lazily, “Ms. Sheng.”
Sheng Qingli responded, “Hmm?”
“I want to support you,” Pei Qingci said.
Sheng Qingli tilted her face up, deliberately saying, “I’m hard to support.”
“I have money.”
“Money isn’t the only thing I need,” Sheng Qingli teased him on purpose.
Pei Qingci hummed in response, lowered his head to kiss her, and sat her on the kitchen island beside him, his voice deep and husky, “What else do you need?”
Sheng Qingli thought seriously, but before she could say the answer, Pei Qingci lightly bit her lower lip and asked, “Do you want me?”
Feeling a bit dazed from his kiss, Sheng Qingli instinctively opened her mouth, “Of course…”
Before she could finish the word, Pei Qingci fulfilled her wish, “I’ll give it to you.”
