Chapter 89
The group of people turned around and walked quickly towards the doctor when they heard the voice.
The doctor’s face was solemn, and he said in a deep voice:
“We found an embryo in each of the patient’s fallopian tubes. We must remove both embryos to save the patient’s life, but…”
“Two embryos, so there are two children? Twins?” Wang Mingfang seemed to have grasped the key point. She interrupted the doctor and asked hurriedly:
“Can you tell if the children are boys or girls?”
“That’s not the issue now. The two embryos are growing in the two fallopian tubes. To save her life, we have to remove both fallopian tubes. Once the fallopian tubes are removed, she won’t be able to get pregnant anymore.” The doctor replied.
“What?” Wang Mingfang’s voice suddenly rose. She looked at the doctor in disbelief and waved her hand, saying resolutely:
“We won’t remove them. Let the children grow in that tube, whatever it’s called. It’s their fate how big they can grow. We won’t remove them.”
The doctor frowned deeply and didn’t explain to Wang Mingfang anymore. He simply said:
“She’s already in surgery. We just came to tell you about the situation.”
Wang Mingfang was anxious. In her mind, this was like killing her grandsons, two of them! And what about removing the fallopian tubes, never being able to give birth again? Wouldn’t that mean her son Lìdōng would have no descendants?
She didn’t care at all about Yáo Hóngméi’s health. She felt that as long as the children were still in her belly, there was still hope. So, she started yelling:
“We’re not having surgery. We’re taking her home now. Whether she lives or dies, we’ll take responsibility. Lìdōng, quickly carry your wife out.”
Hearing these words, Xia Qingning couldn’t help but frown. She finally understood why it was necessary to have family members by a woman’s side during childbirth. It was because some in-laws were not human. They only cared about the children, only wanted to leave behind descendants, and didn’t care at all about the mother’s life.
Lu Lìdōng had no idea what an ectopic pregnancy was. His entire head was in a daze. Hearing his mother’s words, he actually went towards the ward.
“The patient’s family, you can’t go in. She’s being treated inside. If you don’t remove the fallopian tubes, she’ll be in danger…”
“I said we’ll take responsibility for whether she lives or dies. We’re taking her home now. You dare to cut any tubes, and we’ll fight you!” Wang Mingfang was a foolish and ignorant shrew at this moment. She was very forceful.
It was as if Yáo Hóngméi’s life was entirely up to her!
“Shut up!” Lu Jingzhe suddenly yelled from the side, looking at Wang Mingfang with disgust:
“Get out of here! Don’t interfere with the doctor saving people.”
His voice was deep and powerful, carrying a strong deterrent and an irresistible authority. It was the characteristic of someone who had been on the battlefield.
Wang Mingfang was swept by his cold gaze and actually stopped her previous behavior of making a scene and being unreasonable. She didn’t dare to speak again to obstruct the doctor.
“Don’t mind them. Do whatever you need to do to save her.” Lu Jingzhe ignored Wang Mingfang and walked forward, looking at the doctor and saying in a deep voice.
Xia Qingning looked at the man in front of her and felt inexplicably reassured. Such a person who valued life would surely protect her if she ever encountered danger.
The doctor nodded and turned back into the operating room.
The corridor quickly became quiet. The situation was already like this. Wang Mingfang knew that it was useless to make a fuss. In her eyes, a daughter-in-law who had lost her ability to bear children was already a hen that couldn’t lay eggs. But fortunately, the girl just now was also pregnant, so Lu Lìdōng wouldn’t be without descendants. It was a blessing in disguise.
After a long time, the doctor finally came out and said that the embryos had been removed and the patient was out of danger.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Xia Qingning noticed that Wang Mingfang had left at some point. She really didn’t even bother to look at someone who was no longer useful.
“I’ll take Yingying to get checked.” Lu Jingzhe said to Xia Qingning: “Do you want to come with us or stay here?”
Xia Qingning thought for a moment. Now that Yáo Hóngméi was out of danger, she didn’t need to stay here. So, she said:
“I’ll go with you.”
So, the two of them hugged the child and went to register. It was already evening, and there weren’t many people seeing a doctor. They were soon called in. Lu Jingzhe carried the child inside.
The pediatrician was a woman in her forties. She looked very gentle. She placed the child on the small bed and began to examine her.
Perhaps because she had cried and been beaten by He Shanshan, Yingying didn’t dare to cry anymore. She cooperated with the doctor during the examination.
After carefully examining her mouth and ears, and looking at her hands and feet, the doctor’s expression became very unpleasant. The slap marks on the girl’s face and the bruises on her body were shocking. It was obvious that she had been beaten and pinched.
Doctors have a compassionate heart. Seeing a three-year-old child beaten like this, how could she not be angry? The female doctor looked coldly at Xia Qingning. Seeing that she was very beautiful, she immediately understood a little bit. She looked at her with no good intentions and asked:
“What are you to her?”
Meeting the doctor’s unfriendly gaze, Xia Qingning was a little confused. She didn’t understand why the doctor asked this, but she still answered truthfully:
“I’m her aunt-in-law, and he’s her uncle.”
The doctor listened to her words and looked at Xia Qingning again. She had always thought that the woman in front of her was the child’s stepmother.
After all, she looked like this, and it was easy to associate her with the image of a beautiful and vicious stepmother.
Since it was her uncle and aunt who brought her here, either her parents were gone, or she had too many siblings and was sent to live with them. But how could an aunt hit a three-year-old child so hard?
The female doctor’s face was still cold, and she said in a deep voice:
“Do you know that hitting a child’s ears hard can easily deafen them? The child is still young, it’s inevitable that she’ll be naughty. Just talk to her properly. You can’t hit her like that anymore!”
Xia Qingning finally realized that the female doctor thought she was abusing the child. No wonder she was so unfriendly to her. She was about to explain when Lu Jingzhe, who was standing beside her, answered in a deep voice:
“She didn’t hit her.”
The doctor turned her head and looked at him. She saw that although he was very handsome, he had a cold face, and he didn’t look kind at all.
She had seen many foolish men like this who were quick to explain, obviously protecting their wives. She frowned and looked at the man and asked:
“Did you hit her?”
“No, no.” Xia Qingning saw that she had misunderstood and quickly waved her hand, explaining:
“We didn’t hit her. We didn’t abuse the child. It was…”
“It was Auntie. Yingying cried, and Auntie hit Yingying…” Yingying sat on the small bed and continued in a childish voice:
“Auntie is bad, Xiaoshen is good…”
After hearing the child’s words, the female doctor understood roughly. Her expression softened, and she looked at Xia Qingning and said:
“I’m sorry, I misunderstood you. I just checked, the child’s ears are fine. Her mouth is broken. Give her light and easy-to-digest food for a while.”
After saying this, she hesitated for a moment and reminded her: “Try not to let the child be taken care of by this aunt anymore.”
The two thanked the doctor and then carried the child out.
Lu Jingzhe’s face was not good along the way. When they arrived at Yáo Hóngméi’s ward, he handed the child to Xia Qingning and called Lu Lìdōng, who was sitting there in a daze, outside the ward. He told him about He Shanshan’s assault on Yingying.
“What are you going to do about this?” Lu Jingzhe asked in a deep voice.
Lu Lìdōng didn’t seem to care much. He replied:
“The child was disobedient. Her aunt hit her a couple of times. It’s no big deal.”
After hearing his words, Lu Jingzhe frowned and said coldly:
“Abusing and beating a child is not a small matter!” He looked at Lu Lìdōng and said in an unquestionable tone:
“Go tell her, she’s moving out of this house in the next two days.”
