Chapter 19
“good!”
Shu Wan took the initiative to open her clothes to make it easier for Xiong Hanmei to put them on.
After putting on her clothes, Xiong Hanmei looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes curved with a smile, and she looked extremely satisfied.
She touched the fine embroidery on the corner of her clothes and asked, “Did you unstitch the stitches and embroider them again?”
Shu Wan shook her head. “I made some changes based on this. If you look carefully, you can still see the previous lines.”
Xiong Hanmei took a look and found that it was true.
Xiong Hanmei was not vague either. She directly gave 45 yuan to Shu Wan, then turned to Li Shengnan and said, “Give her the deposit.”
Ever since seeing the altered clothes, Li Shengnan completely lost interest in watching the show. If she didn’t know what the clothes looked like before, she would never have thought that they could be altered so well.
But Li Shengnan was not happy to ask her to take the deposit. “Why? It’s ok to give her the balance, but also the deposit? This fabric is free.”
Li Shengnan did not lower her voice, so her words were clearly heard by everyone.
Shu Wan suppressed her smile and looked at her indifferently.
Xiong Hanmei was also a little speechless, “You are not happy now? Why didn’t you refuse at that time?”
“We agreed that as long as the clothes are altered, the balance deposit will be given to her. Everyone heard it.”
“And when you asked the tailor in the store to make alterations, you paid him fifty-five. Now that she has made the alterations, why shouldn’t you pay her?”
“How dare you embezzle this money? You are so shameless.”
Xiong Hanmei kept talking one sentence after another, and Li Shengnan couldn’t stand it at all. She wanted to cover her mouth, for fear that she would say something else.
What if the master knew that this was caused by her taking orders privately? Thinking of this, Li Shengnan’s face turned pale.
“Give her the money.”
Fang Wenqiu spoke up and glanced at Li Shengnan, somewhat disappointed.
Li Shengnan knew that she was guilty, so she lowered her head and took out ten yuan to give to Shu Wan. She caught a glimpse of her master’s inquiring eyes out of the corner of her eye, and her heart skipped a beat, wondering if her master knew something.
After getting the money, Xiong Hanmei asked for Shu Wan’s contact information before leaving, saying that she wanted her to make a few more pieces.
Ignoring Li Shengnan’s livid face, Shu Wan smiled and said: I will accept the order soon and contact you then.
After getting the answer, Xiong Hanmei left satisfied.
As soon as Xiong Hanmei left, Fang Qiuwen stepped forward and introduced herself: “Hello, my name is Fang Wenqiu, the owner of this store.”
“Shu Wan.”
Shu Wan breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the other person had the same expression. He didn’t look like a stingy person.
“You deserve the compensation from Mrs. Xiong, and I have to thank you for this. Otherwise, I might not be able to keep this store.” Fang Wenqiu saw through Shu Wan’s thoughts and said generously.
“Everyone seeks what they need, and I’m not working for nothing.” Shu Wan said politely.
Fang Wenqiu looked at the large and small bags beside Shu Wan and asked curiously: “What are you doing?”
Shu Wan shrugged, “I plan to take it over and sell it at a stall.”
There was a “puff” sound, which was particularly abrupt.
Fang Wenqiu looked at the ridicule and contempt on Li Shengnan’s face and said, “Xiaoling, take your sister downstairs to do her homework. Don’t come out before dark.”
Li Shengnan’s face turned pale. When she saw Fang Wenqiu’s cold look, she lowered her head and followed Xu Xiaoling.
From everyone’s words just now and Li Shengnan’s guilty expression, Fang Wenqiu roughly guessed that this matter might be related to Li Shengnan, but she didn’t expect that Li Shengnan’s character was so crooked.
Fang Wenqiu looked at Shu Wan apologetically, “I apologize to you on her behalf.”
Shu Wan waved her hands, “You are not her, why are you apologizing?”
After saying that, Shu Wan stood up and prepared to leave.
Before leaving, Fang Wenqiu couldn’t help but asked tentatively: “Can I see what you are going to sell?”
“sure.”
Shu Wan agreed generously and took out a few sweaters and gloves to show Fang Wenqiu.
Fang Wenqiu’s eyes lit up. When she saw Mrs. Xiong’s dress just now, she realized that Shu Wan had a solid foundation and superb skills. Now, looking at the weaving in her hands, she could see her talent and potential.
This is exactly the person I’m looking for…
Fang Qiuwen was hesitating, and Shu Wan was about to leave.
Before leaving, Shu Wan pointed in the direction, “I have a stall over there, you can find me there.”
“good.”
Shu Wan arrived at the place she had chosen earlier, took out the things and started setting up the stall.
During these two days, she made two sweaters, five pairs of gloves, and five scarves. She took them all out and laid them out on the ground in order, with a piece of cloth underneath.
Due to the tight schedule, Shu Wan only made things for the children.
Young men and women passed by, glanced at her and left immediately. For a while, Shu Wan’s stall was particularly deserted.
Shu Wan was not in a hurry because the target customer had not appeared yet.
While waiting for someone, she seemed to see a familiar figure, but before she could see it clearly, it disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Before I could think further, the stall welcomed its first customer.
The woman who came was holding a little girl of about five or six years old with two ponytails. When she saw the pink sweaters on the stall, she couldn’t walk anymore and tugged at the corner of her mother’s clothes.
The woman asked, “How much are the items?”
Shu Wan answered quickly: “The sweater is five dollars, and the gloves and scarf are one dollar each.”
The woman frowned, “Why is it so expensive?”
“They are all made by me, stitch by stitch, and they are all new styles. I guarantee you have never seen them before.”
The woman looked hesitant, and the little girl pinched her mother’s little finger tightly, with desire in her eyes.
“Mom, I want it.”
Just when the woman was struggling, someone else came over, this time it was the woman with the boy.
When the boy saw it, he didn’t leave and shouted at his mother to buy it.
The boy’s mother was wealthier, so she took out some money and bought him a sweater, gloves and a scarf. After all, the weather was getting cold, so she could wear them right away.
The boy wore a blue scarf, which made his fair and tender face look even whiter and rosier. A pair of round cat ears hung behind his neck, making him look extremely cute.
The boy’s mother was very satisfied and walked away with her child smiling.
As soon as I left, people surrounded me and asked me where I bought it.
The boy’s mother answered one by one.
Soon, Shu Wan’s stall was surrounded by a crowd, and the things on display were sold out in less than half an hour.
“Mom, all the things are gone.” The girl said aggrievedly, sobbing.
The girl’s mother didn’t expect that after just a stroll, all her things were gone. She originally wanted to bargain with Shu Wan and buy it for her daughter if the price was lower.
When Shu Wan was packing her things, someone came over and asked:
“Boss, do you still have that scarf with long ears?”
“Do you have gloves? I want to bring a pair for my son.”
“…”
Shu Wan answered one by one, “I have bought everything today. You can come back next time.”
“Still here?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, Boss, please prepare more next time.”
Shu Wan nodded, “We will make more next time, and add new styles. Everyone is welcome to come then.”
After getting a satisfactory answer, the crowd dispersed, and the girl’s mother also left with her child. Before leaving, she repeatedly promised her daughter that she would buy it for the girl next time. Only then did the girl agree to leave.
After packing up, Shu Wan didn’t rush back because she needed to buy some materials before going back.
Today’s trip was quite fruitful. I got 55 yuan from altering clothes and 20 yuan from selling fabrics, a total of 75 yuan.
Now that there are no sewing machines, I can only do some simple and labor-free work.
Shu Wan went to the department store to look at the price of sewing machines, tightened the seventy yuan in her pocket, and was still one hundred yuan short. Her plan to save money still had a long way to go.
I can only rely on setting up stalls to accumulate funds and buy a sewing machine. Then I can show my skills and explore other business opportunities.
Shu Wan bought a large quantity of wool in various colors. While passing by a grocery store, she saw small items such as pearl shells and bought some of those as well.
After finishing shopping, Shu Wan carried the bags and got on the bus back.
As soon as Shu Wan left, someone came to the place where she had set up her stall.
