Chapter 16: Lu Siyi’s skills still need practice!
The pot was pitch black, the ingredients inside were carbonized, and their original forms were unrecognizable. The pot was probably ruined too.
Lin Qingyue looked embarrassed and apologized, “I’m sorry, I forgot there was something cooking in the pot.” She had been preoccupied with settling the children’s fight and then tending to their injuries.
She hung her head in guilt. Their family was already struggling financially, and now she’d broken a pot and wasted a meal. It was such a waste.
“It’s not a big deal. There wasn’t a fire, and you and the children are fine, so I’m relieved.” Lu Siyi solemnly reminded her, “Next time, remember, a fire is no small matter.”
Huh?
Lu Siyi didn’t blame her? He even comforted her? Although his comforting style was a bit… straightforward.
If Lu Siyi were in modern times, he’d definitely be a highly sought-after man.
She looked at Lu Siyi, her eyes curving into crescents. She felt like she’d struck gold.
Lu Siyi rolled up his sleeves and went into the kitchen to cook. Looking at the messy cutting board, he sighed inwardly. Lin Qingyue had lived a life of luxury as a pampered young lady, always having everything done for her. She clearly didn’t know how to cook, but for the sake of her three children, she was trying her best.
Her guilty and helpless demeanor had almost melted his heart.
Ah, Lin Qingyue had suffered a lot marrying him.
It seemed he would have to come home every day at noon to cook for his wife and children.
Soon, delicious home-cooked dishes were served. Lu Siyi, wearing an apron, hurried back and forth to the kitchen to serve soup. The children, after washing their hands, gathered around, making the Lu family dinner lively and warm.
Lu Siyi picked up a piece of food, his expression calm and unreadable. “From now on, I’ll come back every day. You should stay away from the kitchen.”
It wasn’t that he disliked Lin Qingyue for wasting food and not knowing how to cook; he was genuinely afraid she’d have an accident. Cooking would be his responsibility from now on.
Lin Qingyue almost choked on her food. “What do you mean? Aren’t you going out at night?”
“No.” Lu Siyi uttered two words through gritted teeth. He wondered if it was his imagination, but he felt like she didn’t want him to stay home.
Oh dear, oh dear, the carefree life she’d imagined was gone forever.
At this rate of Lu Siyi staying home, the Lu family patriarch would likely be holding a grandchild soon.
Thinking of this, Lin Qingyue felt another headache coming on.
Lu Siyi’s skills still need practice.
And those skills could only be practiced on her.
It’s a vicious cycle!
“Sigh!” Lin Qingyue sighed heavily, the taste of her food gone.
Lu Siyi observed Lin Qingyue’s reaction; his indifferent face showed no emotion, but the force with which he chewed his rice held a fierce intensity.
After dinner, Lu Siyi cleaned the kitchen while Lin Qingyue took the three children to wash up.
After getting the children ready for bed, it was not yet 8 pm, and the sky was only just darkening. Evenings without entertainment felt long.
Lin Qingyue also took a shower.
Even after showering, it was only a little after 8 pm. She usually slept late and didn’t know what to do, so she started planning what she could do in the future.
Something that could both take care of the children and earn money…
She was lost in thought when the lights in the room went out, and Lu Siyi, still damp from his shower, locked the door.
Lin Qingyue immediately had a bad feeling.
“Why did you lock the door?”
“With the children home, it’s not convenient to leave the door unlocked.”
As soon as Lu Siyi finished speaking, Lin Qingyue felt a weight on top of her. He bit her ear, his hands starting to roam over her body, making her heart race.
A small spark ignited a great fire.
Lin Qingyue wrapped her arms around his neck. Lu Siyi suddenly stopped.
She was startled. Stopping at this moment was unlike Lu Siyi.
In the dark room, she couldn’t see his expression.
“My guard saw you talking to Tao Siyan,” his voice was low and husky, as if he was suppressing something.
“So, you’re jealous?” Lin Qingyue’s tone was teasing and playful.
The response was a long silence.
“Tao Siyan and I didn’t talk about anything. Besides, he likes Liu Sili; he’s going to be with her.” Lin Qingyue hugged his neck, kissed his face, and said, “I’m already married to you, and you’re so much better than him. Why would I even think about him?”
A low chuckle escaped Lu Siyi’s throat. Lin Qingyue felt herself lifted, her body flipped so she was on top of him.
This man, was he going to try a new position tonight?
He hasn’t learned to walk, and he’s already trying to run.
Lin Qingyue had a dark expression. Tonight was going to be rough.
And she was right.
Lu Siyi was both fierce and intense, and Lin Qingyue wondered if she’d die from it.
In the end, she was too tired to even lift her eyelids, and the man on top of her was still tireless.
When Lin Qingyue opened her eyes again, it was already bright. She moved her aching body and wore a gloomy expression.
Perhaps she should tell Lu Siyi to be more restrained.
She got dressed and left the bedroom. Lu Yiming was playing with his younger siblings. She looked around and asked, “Where’s your dad?”
“Dad went to the army. He left food for you in the kitchen.”
“Dad also said not to cook lunch; wait for him to come back.” Perhaps fearing another dangerous incident like last night, Lu Siyi reminded her again.
“Okay, I understand.”
Lin Qingyue ate a couple of bites of food, then took out some fabric and started making school bags for the children; school would start in three or four days.
She picked up her needle and thread, immediately feeling overwhelmed. In her past life, she had seen many tailors make clothes, but now that she had to do it herself, she had no idea where to start.
After working hard for half a day, she finished a school bag with crooked stitches.
She beckoned Lu Yiming to come and try it on.
The little ones looked at the ugly bag with its exposed stitches and gasped. Why was it so different from the bags other parents made?
Lin Qingyue was very satisfied with her first bold attempt and quickly started on the second one.
With the experience from the first one, the second bag looked slightly better, but the stitches were still crooked. For the third one, Lin Qingyue specially made cat ears for Sisi.
Lu Yicheng looked at the three increasingly ugly bags and had a speechless expression. “Auntie Lin, your needlework is terrible!”
“It’s good enough that Auntie Lin made them for you; don’t be picky!” Lu Yiming immediately defended Lin Qingyue.
Lin Qingyue also felt that the children carrying such ugly bags to school would attract attention.
“Sigh, such a waste of good fabric.” She sighed, glanced at the time, and wondered, “Why hasn’t your dad come back yet?”
