Marrying a Military Officer in the Countryside: Having You as My System Is My Blessing
Marrying a Military Officer in the Countryside: Having You as My System Is My Blessing – Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Liu Dong glanced at Wang Qini and secretly cursed her as a fool in his heart. Wang Qini was tired of waiting.

After all these years, why should only her eldest son, Liu Shengjun, live well? Now it was her second son’s turn.

The villagers sighed as they watched the never-ending drama in the Wang Qini household.

The accountant Liu’s wife rushed over upon hearing the commotion, grabbed Wang Qini’s hair, and the two women started fighting.

Liu Dong stood by without helping either side. Wang Qini’s husband used to be his best friend, but at a critical moment, that friend had not supported him.

Liu Dong took the opportunity and approached Wang Qini, and to his surprise, she was foolish enough to agree, seeing that Liu Dong was an accountant.

After her husband left, she maintained this relationship with Liu Dong, and their second son was their biological child.

The village chief found their situation troublesome, so he stepped in to resolve it.

Meanwhile, He Yirou was pleased after dealing with Ji Yunshen and Shen Yuling, but then, the villager who had helped her before came looking for her.

“He Zhiqing, I didn’t help you for nothing today. I helped because you’re beautiful. You know, if I hadn’t said anything, do you think the village chief would have believed you so easily?”

“What do you want?”

“Tonight at eight, meet me at the small hut at the foot of the mountain.”

He Yirou knew that if she refused, he would cause her trouble. Rather than resisting, she decided to agree—she had nothing to lose anymore.

“Alright.”

Seeing her agree, the man left happily. He Yirou knew that Gu Nian would soon be leaving with the army.

She was running out of time. Only by obtaining the system could she escape from here.

With no other choice, she sought out the village’s well-known witch. The moment the witch saw her, she knew her purpose.

“Think carefully. This is a very dangerous act. If you succeed, you’ll be fine, but if you fail, you’ll suffer severe consequences. I advise you to reconsider.”

“I want to do it.”

He Yirou answered without hesitation. This was her last chance. Seeing that she wouldn’t listen, the witch stopped trying to persuade her.

“I will help you, but no matter the outcome, you must bear the consequences yourself.”

“Alright.”

At this moment, He Yirou was focused only on obtaining Gu Nian’s system and didn’t think about anything else.

At the Zhiqing station, Gu Nian returned and immediately went to chat with Song Youyou and Fang Siyu. As she had suspected, they were now a couple.

They had even decided to get married but hadn’t told her yet, wanting to surprise her. However, she had figured it out.

“Gu Nian, we’ve decided to have a simple wedding the day after tomorrow before you leave.”

“Alright, whatever you decide.”

The station became lively again due to Song Youyou and Fang Siyu’s wedding plans.

The two of them were well-liked, so everyone wanted to attend. But besides them, another person at the station was also getting married—Jia Xueli.

After some time adjusting, she had finally recovered.

She was marrying Zhao Liyan, a fellow Zhiqing who had come to the countryside with her. Unfortunately, for the longest time, she had only had eyes for Ye Qing, ignoring the one who truly cared for her.

But now, everything was back on track. Gu Nian was genuinely happy for them.

After discussing, they decided to have both weddings on the same day. Gu Nian prepared four water cups as wedding gifts for them.

Finally, the day before the wedding banquet, Jiang Huaijing returned. As soon as he arrived, he went straight to Gu Nian.

“Gu Nian, our marriage application has been approved. I came back specifically to take you with me.”

“Okay.”

Actually, there had been some trouble because of Gu Nian’s parents’ background, but fortunately, everything was resolved.

Since they were getting married, Gu Nian told Jiang Huaijing about her parents and asked if they could meet before she left.

Jiang Huaijing readily agreed and even promised Gu Nian that he would arrange for her parents to come live with them in the future.

The next morning, Gu Nian and Jiang Huaijing received their marriage certificate. While walking in town, they ran into Ye Qing.

He was in tattered clothes, looking abandoned. Gu Nian ignored him, and Ye Qing, feeling ashamed, did not greet her either.

At noon, they attended the wedding banquet, and afterward, Gu Nian took Jiang Huaijing to meet her parents.

Her parents had already heard about their relationship from the villagers, and upon seeing them, they felt they were a perfect match.

Gu Nian’s parents were very satisfied with Jiang Huaijing as a son-in-law, and he promised them he would take good care of Gu Nian for life.

Gu Nian was set to leave the morning after the wedding. Over the next two days, she packed her things.

For some reason, she had been feeling dizzy lately.

“Ding! Host, I detected someone using dark magic to put you in a coma and steal your system.”

“Is it He Yirou?”

“I don’t know, but I’ve sensed it for a while, and now the effect is getting stronger.”

“Is there a way to stop it?”

“Host, there is an Evil Repelling Talisman in the system. Carry one with you. Since you’ve been drinking spiritual spring water, don’t worry—they won’t be able to harm you.”

Gu Nian felt reassured and focused on preparing for her departure. Meanwhile, He Yirou waited and waited, but after several days, nothing happened.

Frustrated, she sought out the witch again.

“What’s going on? Why hasn’t there been any effect?”

“You failed. Find another way.”

Unwilling to accept failure, He Yirou left angrily. She could not give up—the system had to be hers.

On the day Gu Nian left, the Zhiqing station and many villagers came to see her off. Gu Nian was well-liked in the village.

Xia Hehua and Jiang Suyu were reluctant to part with her. Jiang Huaijing promised them they could attend the wedding ceremony.

The wedding would be held at the military base, and Xia Hehua prepared twenty boiled eggs and thirty pancakes for them, afraid they’d go hungry on the journey.

Jiang Huaijing’s military camp was in the west, while they were in the east. They had to take a train for several days and nights to get there.

Fortunately, Jiang Huaijing had booked a sleeper ticket for Gu Nian. On the train, they took care of each other, growing even more fond of one another.

After several days and nights of travel, they finally arrived. As they got off the train, Jiang Huaijing carried the luggage in one hand and held Gu Nian’s hand with the other.

Not far away, a car was waiting for them.

“Hello, Captain! Hello, Sister-in-law! I’m Zhao Youshuai. You can just call me Xiao Zhao.”

“Alright, Xiao Zhao.”

“Sister-in-law, please get in the car.”

Gu Nian got into the car. Their first stop was the family quarters, and along the way, Jiang Huaijing introduced the place to her.

As Gu Nian was getting familiar with her new home, He Yirou woke up and was horrified by her own appearance.

What had happened to her? Panicking, she rushed to find the witch again.

Seeing He Yirou’s state, the witch was not surprised at all.

“I warned you that you’d have to bear the consequences. No matter what happens, you can’t blame me. You brought this upon yourself.”
