Marrying My Ex-fiance’s Brother
Marrying My ex-Fiance’s Brother: Chapter 15-1

At the same time, Su Qingran came out of her room after taking a shower.

She had gone straight to bed after returning home yesterday, waking up in the middle of the night. She was turned upside down and managed to catch some more sleep, and now she finally felt somewhat revitalized.

Su Zhen didn’t go to work today; instead, he stayed home to accompany her along with Lu Ruolan.

“Qingran, what do you want to eat? Mom will cook for you,” Lu Ruolan said, not mentioning anything about yesterday.

Su Qingran thought for a moment and realized her brain was still a bit sluggish. She replied, “Anything is fine.”

Lu Ruolan nodded, “Alright, then Mom will make your favorite sweet and sour pork ribs.”

As she spoke, she went to the kitchen to prepare, while Su Zhen came to Su Qingran’s side and asked, “Qingran, are you feeling better now?”

Su Qingran nodded.

In her palm lay the diamond ring she had taken off after her shower.

Pei Jingyan had bought it on a whim yesterday; it didn’t quite fit, but the diamond was large and clearly worth a lot.

Su Zhen had clearly noticed the ring as well.

He couldn’t help but recall what Pei Jingyan had said to him in the lounge yesterday—

“Uncle, although Jiang Chenlin is my younger brother, my feelings for him aren’t strong enough for me to sacrifice my own happiness for the rest of my life to clean up his mess.”

“My only purpose in coming here is to hope for a future with Qingran.”

“Because I have liked her for many years; she just doesn’t know.”

Su Zhen prided himself on being able to read people well, and he had not noticed any problems with Jiang Chenlin. So even though Pei Jingyan’s gaze and tone had been serious yesterday, Su Zhen still held reservations.

But considering the situation at that moment, his daughter could not handle any more.

So he temporarily agreed.

Pei Jingyan had also said, “You can investigate; I will prove that your and Qingran’s choices will not be wrong.”

Returning to the present, Su Zhen asked, “Qingran, are you planning to keep this engagement ring?”

Su Qingran shook her head: “I will return it to him. But it’s probably not suitable to do so right now. After all, we just got engaged yesterday; if I immediately announce the cancellation of the engagement, it wouldn’t be good for anyone. I will discuss it with him.”

Su Zhen noticed the faint dark circles under his daughter’s eyes and sighed inwardly.

His daughter had grown up; she was no longer the little girl hiding behind him seeking protection. She had her own opinions and the courage to face the storms alone.

“Alright,” Su Zhen nodded. “No matter what decision you make, Dad will support you.”

Su Qingran then managed a faint smile: “Okay, if I don’t get married in the future, you and Mom will have to support me for a lifetime.”

“Of course, we’ll support you for a lifetime.” Lu Ruolan came over and pulled her daughter into an embrace. “Mom would never let you be taken away by someone else!”

The atmosphere gradually lightened.

But only Su Qingran knew that her nerves were still tightly strung.

She didn’t really want to go to school, didn’t want to face her classmates or the friends in the socialite circle; she wasn’t keen on socializing.

But she ultimately had to take that step and step out of her comfort zone.

So two hours later, Su Qingran went to the studio.

In front of her was the partially sculpted piece she was working on, a representation of the three colors of Loulan. The submission deadline for the competition was in just over two months, and she had to carve out a satisfactory piece before then.

Su Qingran picked up the carving pen but hesitated to make any moves.

Xiao Yun placed a cup of tea on another table next to Su Qingran’s workstation.

Seeing that Su Qingran was lost in thought, she gently reminded her, “Qingran, the tea is getting cold.”

Su Qingran nodded but didn’t move. Instead, she picked up her phone and sent Pei Jingyan a message: “Mr. Pei, I’m waiting for you in my studio.”

Pei Jingyan had initially thought Su Qingran would contact him in a few days, but perhaps he underestimated the feelings of the girl he liked, making this meeting even more challenging for him.

Half an hour later, Pei Jingyan arrived at Su Qingran’s carving room.

Xiao Yun, being very perceptive, poured him a cup of tea and quietly left, leaving the space for the two of them.

“Please, have a seat,” Su Qingran said.

She wasn’t in great shape; whenever she was feeling down, she would carve to immerse herself and gradually smooth out all her emotions.
