At the end of July, it was time for Ning Qiuxiu to attend the anniversary celebration of the game she was endorsing.
The event was scheduled to start at 6 PM, and they planned to leave two hours early. But right after lunch, Ning Qiuxiu went upstairs to agonize over which outfit to wear.
Not only was she indecisive for herself, but she also dragged Zhan Qingyue into it.
“This one? No, too plain. This one? Not good either, the pink one looks tacky. This one, maybe not right either.”
Ning Qiuxiu nearly turned Zhan Qingyue’s wardrobe upside down, feeling that no matter what she chose, it didn’t look right.
Zhan Qingyue was forced to stand in front of the dressing mirror while Ning Qiuxiu compared and filtered through outfit after outfit without reaching a decision.
Seeing her frowning and worrying more than if she were choosing something for herself, he said, “I’m just going as an audience member. Even if you dress me up all glamorous, no one will see.”
“It’s different,” Ning Qiuxiu said earnestly. “Whether others see it or not is their concern. Whether you dress up or not is your own. We shouldn’t measure our actions by what others might see.”
This reasoning made Zhan Qingyue chuckle, “Aren’t you worried that dressing me up too well might attract unwanted attention?”
As Ning Qiuxiu held up an outfit against him, she shot back, “If you dare, I’ll break your third leg!”
Zhan Qingyue hugged her and said, “The third leg is devoted to serving Miss Ning, yet Miss Ning wants to break it. It feels wronged and needs Miss Ning’s comfort.”
“Get lost!” Ning Qiuxiu pushed him. “Let go… mmm.”
She was silenced by Zhan Qingyue’s kiss.
Since having a real “practice partner,” Zhan Qingyue’s kissing skills had visibly improved.
He was no longer the guy who would bump into teeth during a kiss.
After the kiss ended, Zhan Qingyue, still unsatisfied, retreated and kissed her at the corner of her lips, then moved to her cheek and buried his head in her neck.
He gently nibbled her earlobe, his voice husky as he said, “Qiuxiu… the third leg says it’s hungry.”
This was clearly suggestive. Ning Qiuxiu, breathless and in his embrace, heard his words.
Instead of resisting, she wrapped her arms around his waist, looked up with a flirtatious gaze, and said, “Zhan Qingyue, have you finally decided to have a daytime affair with me?”
Zhan Qingyue: “…”
Such a mood-ruiner!
Fortunately, they hadn’t started yet; otherwise, Zhan Qingyue felt his enthusiasm might be extinguished by her words.
They had never done it during the day. Zhan Qingyue usually worked from nine to five, and his time at home during the day was limited.
He also reserved his big “meals” for Friday nights, with two days off to be a bit indulgent.
By Saturday and Sunday, even if he wanted to, he knew Ning Qiuxiu couldn’t handle it, and he was reluctant to push her.
Ning Qiuxiu’s comment made it seem like there was something significant at stake, ruining the mood.
But Zhan Qingyue was not one to give up easily.
He raised an eyebrow and said, “Since you’re so eager, as your husband, I’ll have to satisfy you this time.”
He tried to lift her to carry her to the bedroom, but Ning Qiuxiu stopped him. “Just here.”
She wasn’t convinced he could perform in this location!
Ning Qiuxiu smirked internally.
They were going to the venue soon, and she didn’t want to be too worn out before the event.
What if she had no energy left for gaming later?
Zhan Qingyue kissed her forehead and said, “Be good, let’s go to the bedroom.”
“No,” Ning Qiuxiu tossed aside her sense of propriety, “no one will come in, so what are you afraid of, Zhan Qingyue?”
“…”
Zhan Qingyue looked at her, and Ning Qiuxiu returned his gaze with a knowing smile.
After a moment of standoff, Zhan Qingyue decided to pin her against the dressing mirror. “Let’s try a new location then.”
Ning Qiuxiu: “???”
Ning Qiuxiu didn’t want to give in and tried to find an excuse, but Zhan Qingyue shut her mouth, stopping all her complaints.
His kiss was tender and lingering, gently leading her into a wonderful state, making her feel completely immersed.
At first, Ning Qiuxiu tried to resist him, but soon she was so overwhelmed by his kiss that she lost all strength.
The clothes in her hands fell to the floor, and she went limp in his arms, letting him do as he pleased.
The intimacy in the walk-in closet was more passionate than ever before, especially with the large dressing mirror reflecting their most embarrassing moments.
Despite his traditional nature, Zhan Qingyue was still a man. Once his restraint broke, his hidden wildness and desires surged forth, driven by adrenaline that clouded his rational mind.
On the other hand, Ning Qiuqiu, who usually talked openly, was blushing furiously in the face of reality. This time, Zhan Qingyue lasted much longer than usual, and by the end, she was completely exhausted.
“Bastard,” she muttered as he carried her to the shower.
Zhan Qingyue, who usually appeared so proper, was nothing but a hypocrite!
But Zhan Qingyue was deeply satisfied, both physically and emotionally. Hearing her insult, he kissed her lightly and said, “Yes, I’m a bastard.”
Ning Qiuqiu was speechless. She didn’t feel happy at all.
By the time they finished cleaning up, it was already past 3 o’clock. Ning Qiuqiu felt too embarrassed to enter the messy walk-in closet, so she found a simple yet elegant dress in her bedroom wardrobe.
As for what Zhan Qingyue would wear… she didn’t care!
At 4 o’clock, they set off for the venue.
As an important guest, Ning Qiuqiu was allowed to request a few extra tickets. Her parents, who were free, decided to come and support their daughter.
Jingjing, an old friend, wanted to attend as well, and where she went, Zhou Yang followed. Ning Qiuqiu also gave a ticket to Mengmeng.
With Zhan Qingyue, San Tiao, and Xiao Chi, they had quite a large group.
It was the first time Ning Qiuqiu had such a strong support team at an event, and she felt a bit excited.
After an hour of rest, Ning Qiuqiu was full of energy again. She and Zhan Qingyue drove to the event venue and met up with her parents and three of their friends.
Little Chi was the first to arrive. Knowing most of the attendees, she was in charge of welcoming everyone and directing them to the official lounge where they could relax before the event started.
Jingjing and Zhou Yang arrived together, and the four of them met up at the drop-off point and went inside together.
Ning Qiuqiu noticed that they were both wearing matching black T-shirts with cartoon birds on them, paired with jeans. It was clearly a couple’s outfit.
Ning Qiuqiu remembered how she had felt sorry for Zhou Yang at the Lemon TV Awards last time, and now he was wearing couple’s outfits. Had he suddenly found inspiration from a Korean drama and launched a romance rocket?
“You guys are wearing couple’s outfits without telling us!” Ning Qiuqiu exclaimed, feeling dazzled. She looked at Zhan Qingyue and said, “If I had known, we would have worn matching outfits too!”
Zhan Qingyue, recalling Ning Qiuqiu’s earlier desire to dress simply yet stunningly, was puzzled by her sudden admiration for the simple couple’s outfits. He suggested, “Shall I have someone send over a matching outfit for us?”
“No, no, we’re not wearing couple’s outfits,” Jingjing quickly clarified before Ning Qiuqiu could respond. “These are support outfits! Look!”
Jingjing turned around, revealing the black T-shirt with a cartoon version of Ning Qiuqiu and her name printed on it.
“And this little fat bird, don’t you remember? It’s a drawing of you by Mr. Zhan, just colored in!” Jingjing pointed to the bird on the shirt.
Ning Qiuqiu: “……”
“And look at this support banner,” Jingjing proudly displayed a pink banner with cartoon images of Ning Qiuqiu and Zhan Qingyue: “Cheer for Qiuqiu, Moon Party Moves the Earth!”
Ning Qiuqiu: “…………….”
“How do you like it? Isn’t it great!” Jingjing eagerly awaited praise.
“It’s very creative,” Ning Qiuqiu smiled and said, “You put a lot of thought into it. Thank you.”
Jingjing had never been a fan before and wasn’t familiar with internet culture, but now she was engaged in fan activities and support because of Ning Qiuqiu. Her effort was touching.
However, Jingjing’s support color was gold.
“Aww! Miss Ning, how can you be so formal? Am I not your little angel anymore? Boohoo, do you have other favorites now?”
Ning Qiuqiu: “……”
Just then, Ning’s parents and Mengmeng arrived, and they were also wearing black support outfits!
“Wearing this outfit feels a bit strange for me and Old Ning, but it looks impressive with everyone wearing it,” Ning’s mother said with a fist pump, cheering her on. “It’s my first time wearing something like this. Go, sweetheart! Beat them all!”
“……” Ning Qiuqiu covered her face. She suddenly felt a lot of pressure.
Zhan Qingyue seemed to sense her mood and said at the right time, “It’s just a friendly match; winning or losing doesn’t matter much.”
Hearing this, Ning Qiuqiu’s mother immediately changed her tune, saying, “Then don’t stress about it. We’re not here to compete with them; let them have it.”
Ning Qiuqiu’s father, noticing the busy staff moving in and out, quickly grabbed his wife’s hand, “Let’s not disturb Qiuqiu. Let her prepare properly. Come on, let’s go sit for a while.”
He pulled Ning Qiuqiu’s mother away, despite her wanting to continue talking to their daughter.
Ning Qiuqiu shook her head helplessly. She found it odd that her mother, who mingled daily with high society and cultured people, didn’t seem to pick up on their ways. She could barely keep up a conversation without giving herself away.
This showed the strength of her original character setting.
Just then, Santiao entered the lounge and called Ning Qiuqiu outside. Knowing she needed to get busy, Ning Qiuqiu turned to Zhan Qingyue and said, “Your seat isn’t with theirs. Let Xiao Chi guide you; don’t get it wrong.”
“Don’t worry, I know,” Zhan Qingyue touched her nose gently. “Go ahead, don’t worry about me.”
Santiao almost gagged at their sweetness. As Ning Qiuqiu stepped out, Santiao said, “Let’s go get your makeup done.”
“Okay.”
“How well-prepared are you and Mr. Zhan?” Santiao asked.
She knew Zhan Qingyue would be a last-minute addition to Ning Qiuqiu’s team for the exhibition match. With four professional players on the opposing team and three on theirs, even though Santiao had confidence in Zhan Qingyue, there was a clear difference between professionals and amateurs, making her a bit anxious.
If Ning Qiuqiu were to play alone, it would just be for entertainment, and no one would expect her to perform exceptionally. But paired with Zhan Qingyue, the expectations were higher. With their team’s reputation at stake, she had to consider how to manage their public image if they lost badly.
Ning Qiuqiu was confident, “Don’t worry, we won’t lose.”
“That good, huh?” Santiao, seeing her confident smile and remembering how diligently they had been practicing, felt reassured. “Then I feel better.”
“Ning Qiuqiu!”
Just as they were about to enter the makeup room, someone called out to her. Both turned to see Tang Yu (known as the World’s Number One Hammer) walking over, “Come on, let’s meet our team members. Remember to pick them later, not anyone from another team, got it? Or I’ll post the video of you getting wrecked in the game online.”
His tone was as threatening as if he were talking about posting embarrassing photos.
Ning Qiuqiu gave him a sidelong glance and said slyly, “Mr. Zhan is here too, just in the next lounge. Do you want to go say hi?”
Tang Yu froze for a moment, then yelled, “Qiuqiu! Big sister, or even mom, I was wrong!”
Ning Qiuqiu and Santiao: “…”
Brother, where’s your dignity?
