Chapter 24: Feeding the Evil Spirit with Blood
The sudden voice startled everyone.
Yan Hao quietly found the switch.
Click. The room’s lights turned on.
The previously dark space instantly lit up.
Su Xiaofei instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes.
Yan Qiao stepped inside and only then noticed that someone was lying there.
She looked over coldly, then turned to Yan Hao. “Do you know who she is?”
Yan Hao couldn’t see clearly.
It was Yan Chen who answered her question: “It’s Aunt, Su Sheng’s wife.”
…
…
“But I always heard she was in poor health and rarely left the house. Compared to the last time we saw her… she’s like a completely different person,” Yan Chen said, equally shocked.
Her hair was now white, her body covered by a blanket, making it hard to see her figure, but her cheeks were sunken—she was skin and bones.
“What are you doing here? My mom is sick, she can’t be disturbed. You all need to get out now!” Su Xiaofei shouted at them again.
Yan Hao thought her face looked frighteningly pale.
Yan Qiao ignored her.
She looked around the rectangular room—it had an unusual structure.
The odd layout made Li Xiao uncomfortable as well.
“Ah Qiao, doesn’t the layout of this room seem strange too?” Li Xiao asked curiously, recalling the time they visited Mu Yunzhe’s home to assess the feng shui.
Yan Hao and Yan Chen were also puzzled.
Now that the lights were on, they could clearly see the layout. It gave them an inexplicable sense of discomfort, though they couldn’t immediately identify why.
Until Yan Qiao solved the mystery for them: “It looks like a coffin.”
Yan Hao almost gasped and drew in a sharp breath.
It was more obvious after she said it—he could see it now.
“There are offerings placed at the four corners of the room,” Yan Qiao added.
Yan Hao felt a chill run down his spine.
Yan Qiao turned to Su Xiaofei, her voice cold and firm: “Are you going to hand it over, or should I find it myself?”
Su Xiaofei glared at her viciously. “I don’t know what you’re talking about! You’ve broken into my room illegally!”
“If you don’t leave, I’m calling the police!”
“You’re disturbing my mom’s rest—you’ll all be punished for this!”
Yan Qiao directly slapped a talisman onto her forehead.
“So noisy.”
Su Xiaofei’s expression turned to one of terror and pain.
She kept trying to say something, but no sound came from her mouth.
Then she collapsed to the ground in agony.
At that moment, Su Min and Yan Zhengtian also came upstairs.
They were stunned by the scene in the room—especially at the sight of the sister-in-law. Su Min couldn’t believe it. The last time she’d seen her was six months ago, and she looked completely different.
She covered her mouth with her hand, afraid of disturbing her daughter. She stood at the doorway.
Yan Zhengtian kept an arm around her shoulder.
Su Min looked at her daughter with concern.
Yan Qiao didn’t want to waste any more time.
She directly pulled the blanket off the woman on the bed.
Su Xiaofei tried to stop her—but she couldn’t move.
Her desperation was written all over her face, twisted in distress.
When the blanket was lifted, they saw her hands resting on her abdomen.
In her hands was a pitch-black statue.
“An evil spirit! How bold!” Yan Qiao reached out to grab the statue.
But unexpectedly, the statue suddenly flew into the air.
“Trying to escape? Dream on!” Yan Qiao threw her copper coin weapon toward it.
But the statue dodged.
It was more agile than ordinary evil spirits.
Yan Qiao sneered—did it think it could escape?
She pulled out a talisman and chased after it.
This talisman was enhanced—she had chanted a spell over it.
It quickly caught up with the statue.
When it hit, it made a sizzling sound.
At that moment, a mass of black mist emerged. Yan Qiao seized the opportunity and hurled her Thunder Talisman.
Boom! Boom! It was like bolts of lightning striking the black mist.
In an instant, it was gone.
Yan Hao clearly felt the room’s temperature rise.
The statue fell to the floor and broke in two. Black blood oozed out of the cracks, emitting a nauseating stench.
Everyone in the room, including Su Min and Yan Zhengtian at the door, immediately covered their noses.
Su Xiaofei, who had just fallen to the floor, now had her once youthful and vibrant face rapidly age.
In a flash, she looked ten years older.
The woman on the bed bled from all seven orifices and died.
“Ah Qiao, what the hell is going on?” Yan Hao was full of questions—his mind was about to explode.
Everyone looked at her, clearly wanting an explanation.
Yan Qiao didn’t hide anything. Her cool voice rang out: “They fed the evil spirit with blood. Their intentions were impure.”
“Evil spirits can help people quickly achieve their desires. But in return, they take what they want from the person—like life energy, spiritual energy, and all kinds of dark thoughts.”
“When the evil spirit absorbs enough energy, it becomes stronger and begins to control the person’s will—turning them into its puppet.”
“They were already nearing their end.”
Yan Qiao rarely explained things in such detail.
There were some things she didn’t mention, but what she did say was shocking enough.
“In the end, it was greed that drove them,” she concluded coldly.
Li Xiao was the first to snap out of the shock. “Where’s Yunzhe now?”
He remembered—his friend was still missing!
“Check under the bed,” Yan Qiao pointed.
This was the perfect job for Assistant Ling, who rarely made his presence known.
Yan Hao and Yan Chen helped too.
The physically weak Lord Xiao didn’t lift a finger.
Upon inspection, they found something hidden under the bed.
It was like a large drawer.
Working together, they pulled the “drawer” out—and sure enough, Mu Yunzhe was lying inside, unconscious.
“Take him out.”
“Ah Qiao, what about Su Xiaofei? Can she still be saved?” Yan Chen asked.
“None of this family will survive.”
“They’ve all been feeding the evil spirit with blood. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been almost two years!”
“The one on the bed had it the worst. She was forcibly used as the vessel to sustain the evil spirit. That’s why her fate was the most tragic.”
The anger in the room was palpable.
Su Sheng’s wife may not have even agreed to this.
To fulfill their greedy wishes, they made her a living sacrifice.
The old woman downstairs probably wished for a few more years of life. That extra time—was stolen from Su Sheng’s wife.
Yan Qiao explained it all calmly.
Su Min felt a cold chill as she listened to her daughter’s words.
If she hadn’t left this household earlier, she could’ve been the next sacrifice.
They only cared about their own interests and would stop at nothing to achieve their goals—even sacrificing family.
The housemaids had all fled.
Downstairs in the living room, Su Sheng lay on the floor.
His once plump face now looked shriveled, like a balloon deflated.
His skin was wrinkled like bark.
His eyes were wide open—even in death, he likely didn’t understand why he died like that.
It was a terrifying sight.
Old Lady Su didn’t fare much better.
Yan Zhengtian didn’t let his wife look too long, afraid she’d have nightmares.
They quickly left the villa.
Yan Hao felt like he’d need to jump over a fire basin just to cleanse the bad luck! How could they have relatives like this?
Standing outside, Li Xiao asked, “Ah Qiao, what should we do with this villa? Just leave it like this?.
