Chapter 6 – I Changed My Mind
Although everything that had just happened was still hard to believe, one thing Yan Hao had always been sure of was protecting his sister.
Yan Qiao remained calm as she looked on. When she heard the question, she nodded confidently. “Of course I do.”
At that moment, Father Liang, who had heard the commotion from downstairs, came down with a tone of displeasure. “It’s late at night—why aren’t you all sleeping? What’s with the noise?”
Upon seeing him, Ruan Ling looked as if she had seen her savior.
“Xun-ge! I don’t want to live anymore!” she sobbed, her tears falling like raindrops on pear blossoms, choking with emotion.
Her acting was instant—right into the role in a second.
Liang Chengxun frowned, his face darkening. “What’s going on?”
“What nonsense are you up to again?”
Seeing Liang Song in such a sorry state irritated him, and his voice clearly carried anger.
…
…
“Xun-ge, I’ve been married to you for ten years. I’ve always believed I’ve done my best—I’ve never done anything to wrong you. I know I’m a stepmother, and to gain Ah Song’s approval I had to treat him well. Over the years, I’ve tried so hard to do just that!”
“I thought my sincerity and warmth could melt his heart. Who would’ve thought he’d rather believe the nonsense of some random girl than trust me!”
“He said I tried to hurt him? How could I possibly harm him? Wuuu…”
Ruan Ling cried as she spoke, painting a pitiful picture.
“Uncle Liang, my sister wasn’t spouting nonsense. She doesn’t speak carelessly,” Yan Hao said in his mind—no matter what, he would always stand by his sister.
“Oh, so it’s the third Yan boy. Is this the sister you sent away to be raised elsewhere as a child?” Liang Chengxun looked Yan Qiao up and down.
That gaze made Yan Qiao uncomfortable.
She glanced at Liang Chengxun before her eyes fell on Liang Song.
Her tone was calm and detached. “You just said you have a six-year-old younger brother?”
“Yes. He was born after she married into our family.”
“Your father’s ‘Palace of Children’ is very thin. You’re his only son. There are no others.” Yan Qiao’s voice had already turned cold.
Her calm and indifferent statement was nothing short of a bombshell to the Liang family.
Everyone—except Yan Qiao—was visibly shocked.
And after Liang Chengxun’s initial surprise came overwhelming fury.
This little girl was implying that not only had he been cuckolded, but he had also been raising someone else’s son?
Liang Song snapped out of it too!
“Master, you mean… that kid’s not my dad’s? She cheated on my dad?” he blurted out, his voice loud enough for the whole neighborhood. Fortunately, it was already late.
Still, Liang Chengxun felt like he had been hit twice. This idiot—wasn’t knowing it enough? Why say it out loud?
“You insolent brat! Girl, I’m sparing you this time because you’re Old Yan’s daughter! But if you keep spewing nonsense and slandering me and my family, don’t blame me for being rude! If Old Yan won’t discipline his daughter, I will!”
“Now, get out of my house!”
Afraid that Liang Chengxun might get physical, Yan Hao immediately pulled his sister behind him. He had always been fiercely protective, and his sister was the family’s treasure. How could he let anyone bully her like this? If it came down to it, Third Young Master Yan could really throw hands!
“Uncle Liang, I think you’re getting senile! You can’t even tell who’s good and who’s bad around you! My sister would never spout nonsense!”
“Liang Song almost died today! All thanks to that venomous woman!”
“Get out! Get out! Get out now!” Liang Chengxun was so furious, veins were bulging on his forehead.
“Xun-ge, I’ve always been loyal to you. Ever since I met you, no one else has existed in my eyes or heart! Maybe I really didn’t do enough. I never thought I’d be slandered like this today. I don’t want to live anymore…”
Ruan Ling cried like her heart was being torn apart, tears flowing as she dramatically lunged toward a nearby cabinet. Fortunately, Liang Chengxun pulled her back in time.
“What are you doing?! Stop crying! I’ll stand up for you!” Liang Chengxun was completely agitated. His company had recently run into some trouble, and now this crazy girl was spouting wild claims—his stress was through the roof.
“Yan Third, tell your sister to apologize to my wife!” Liang Chengxun commanded sternly. His expression was cold and his tone left no room for argument.
Then he looked at Liang Song. “And you! Apologize to your aunt! Always getting into trouble—nothing but a headache for me!”
He was on the verge of losing it.
“Uncle Liang, my sister will never apologize!” Yan Hao no longer cared whether what his sister said was true—he was just blindly protective.
“Ah Qiao, didn’t you say earlier that you had a way to make her tell the truth? Show us what you’ve got!” Yan Hao looked at his sister eagerly.
He had thought that Liang Song’s aggressive stance had scared her.
But to his surprise, she remained completely unfazed, as if Liang Chengxun’s attitude had no impact on her whatsoever.
At this moment, her red lips parted slightly as she said calmly, “I changed my mind. We’re leaving.”
With that, she turned and left quietly.
Yan Hao was dumbfounded.
Uh… what?
Just like that?
A little embarrassing.
But seeing how composed she was—did she have another plan?
Yan Hao didn’t think too deeply. Anyway, blindly supporting his sister was the right move. Even if she was wrong, he’d still back her up.
Liang Song panicked when he saw his savior leaving. Without a second thought, he rushed after her. “Master, don’t go! Don’t leave me here alone!”
Watching his foolish son chase after her, Liang Chengxun sighed in frustration. “What an unlucky family…”
Seeing that they had finally left, and noticing Liang Chengxun’s attitude, Ruan Ling breathed a sigh of relief. He was still on her side.
That wretched girl’s words earlier had almost scared her to death.
“Xun-ge, thank goodness you were here. I really didn’t know what I would’ve done without you!”
“I’ll try even harder from now on. Tomorrow, when Ah Song comes back, I’ll explain everything to him. I don’t care what others think of me. As long as you and Ah Song believe me, that’s enough,” she choked out tearfully.
While she said that out loud, in her heart she was already planning to call that Taoist priest.
Tell him to kill that crazy girl too! Otherwise, she’d ruin everything.
She lowered her eyes, a cold and sinister glint flashing across them.
Liang Chengxun didn’t notice her expression. He only heard what she said and became annoyed. “What are you explaining to him for? That boy has no sense! I’ll make him apologize to you! And I’ll go ask Old Yan for an explanation too!”
“Don’t overthink it!” Liang Chengxun still trusted his wife completely. Seeing her being wronged only made him more determined to defend her.
Outside, Yan Qiao got straight into the car.
Liang Song, of course, followed. As long as that venomous woman wasn’t dealt with, he wasn’t going back. His life came first. And he had to cling to this lifesaving straw.
He looked at Yan Qiao and asked, puzzled, “Master, why did you just leave like that?”
“Aren’t you going to help me deal with her?”
