Chapter 186 You Look At Her
Although Gu Zhenhua didn’t like Captain Wang’s actions, they were comrades, colleagues, and neighbors. They couldn’t avoid daily interactions, so he could only persuade him.
“You don’t want to get a divorce, but now you have. Don’t do those messy things anymore. Keep a low profile with Liu Feng and live your life. After a long time, no one will gossip about it.”
Captain Wang laughed and patted Gu Zhenhua’s shoulder, “You’re teaching me now?”
He wouldn’t learn from anyone, let alone Gu Zhenhua.
Letting his wife ride on his neck and act like a tyrant was something Captain Wang absolutely couldn’t tolerate.
Even though he was tricked by Luo Caixia and Liu Feng this time, he hadn’t learned any lessons.
He reverted to his old ways with Liu Feng, his new wife. He made her do the laundry and cooking, and even gave her a stingy allowance.
“You only give me this much money a month, how can it be enough?” Liu Feng said angrily, “You gave me more before we got married.”
“I wouldn’t have remembered if you hadn’t mentioned it. When are you going to repay the money you borrowed before?” Captain Wang asked back.
When Captain Wang lent her the money, he didn’t expect her to repay it quickly. He even advised her not to rush.
Now, mentioning the repayment was deliberate, wanting to put Liu Feng in her place.
“I’ve married you, we’re a family now, why are you still bringing up that money?”
Liu Feng said confidently, with no intention of repaying the money. Instead, she reached out and asked Captain Wang for more.
“We’re out of eggs. The kids are still young and need to grow. You won’t give me money, how can I buy them?”
Seeing the child’s face, Captain Wang, though reluctant, still took out a yuan and gave it to Liu Feng.
“Take this for now. Come back to me when you’ve spent it.”
Just one yuan, what could it buy?
Liu Feng took the yuan, gritted her teeth, and continued, “It’s not enough. I also want to buy some face cream. There are so many clothes in the house, my hands are red from washing them today.”
“You’re being dramatic. Which woman doesn’t wash clothes? No one else uses face cream, you don’t need it either.” Captain Wang refused flatly, preparing to put the money back in his pocket and not give her any more.
Liu Feng wanted to make a scene, but thinking about her current reputation, she knew that even if she did, no one would support her. So she could only swallow her anger.
She had a good relationship with Captain Wang before. Liu Feng knew that he liked gentle and virtuous women.
She squeezed a smile onto her face and said affectionately, “Then I won’t buy face cream. But we need to buy briquettes, we’re running low.”
She could get money from other places, she would just move some around, it was all hers anyway.
“You’re not working now, why buy briquettes? You can go pick up firewood at the foot of the mountain during the day. That’s how we used to do it.” Captain Wang arranged without hesitation.
Liu Feng was shocked, “I have to go pick up firewood?”
“If you don’t pick up firewood, what do you do all day at home?”
“I’m not idle, I’m washing clothes and cooking at home!” Liu Feng was wronged.
They didn’t have natural gas yet, even in the apartment buildings, they had to burn coal. Large pieces of coal needed to be broken before they could be used. To save time and create jobs, the canteen had a briquette machine.
The price of briquettes was slightly higher, but it saved a lot of effort. Most residents of the apartment complex bought briquettes to burn.
Lin Xiangnan’s family used a clay stove and could burn firewood, but she still bought a lot of coal back. Although her family was large, it was inconvenient to pick up firewood.
Before Luo Caixia went to Captain Wang to make a scene, the Wang family still burned firewood. Later, Luo Caixia was able to manage the family’s money and she started using briquettes.
Now facing his new wife, Captain Wang used his old tricks again and taught her: “You should endure more hardships and reform your thinking, and don’t bring your old ways home.”
Liu Feng’s eyes widened.
She didn’t want to go to work because she didn’t want to suffer. But who would have thought that even after getting married, Captain Wang would still treat her like this, and even the tone of his voice was the same as that of her former colleagues.
She didn’t want to do any of the chores he assigned her.
But the situation was stronger than her, Liu Feng decided to endure it for now, temporarily pretend to be virtuous, and coax Captain Wang back to her side.
She did offend him badly when she forced him to marry her.
“You’re the head of the household, I’ll listen to you.” Liu Feng put on a gentle smile.
“That’s right. Now that we’re married, let’s live a good life.”
Captain Wang put on a show of authority in front of his family, “Don’t worry. After a while, I’ll behave better and try to get transferred to another place. That way, there won’t be any gossip.”
“Really?” Liu Feng was overjoyed.
If it wasn’t for the lack of various documents, she would have left long ago. Those sarcastic remarks were like knives, constantly stabbing her heart.
With this carrot dangling in front of her, Liu Feng wanted to mend her relationship with Captain Wang and really put on the mask of virtue.
She washed clothes, cooked meals, and even picked up firewood, being virtuous to the extreme.
It was just that Wang Hu, the little brat, became arrogant again without anyone to discipline him.
Lin Xiangnan had just finished shopping in the city and was about to reach her doorstep when her car tire was punctured.
The jolt almost caused the clay figurines she bought to fall to the ground.
She had just gotten out of the car to check the tire when she saw Wang Hu and a few other kids running away laughing.
“What happened?” Aunt Hua asked at the door.
“My tire was punctured.” Lin Xiangnan picked up the nail and pushed the car home.
Aunt Hua came closer to help check the tire, analyzing, “It was probably Wang Hu and the others. My bike was fine when I came back, but yours got punctured right when you arrived.”
“I’ll go tell his parents later.” Lin Xiangnan didn’t care about it, asking, “How’s your old friend?”
“He’s alright, still alive. Just his old leg pain is acting up, he’s suffering a bit.”
“Next time you go, tell me in advance, I’ll help you find some medicine.”
Just as they were talking, Lin Xiangnan saw Liu Feng walking home carrying a bundle of firewood.
Lin Xiangnan immediately handed the car to Aunt Hua, “You help me take the car back. Liu Feng is back, I’ll go catch Wang Hu and tell his parents.”
Wang Hu, this kid, was a bully, he was scared by Lin Xiangnan and cried out loud, but when he got home, he immediately changed his story and even blamed her.
“Mom! Auntie Lin hit me!”
“You deserve it. Who told you to puncture my tire?”
Liu Feng stood by Wang Hu’s side and lectured Lin Xiangnan, “You’re an adult, why are you arguing with a child? You scared our Huzi.”
“Heh~” Hearing this, Lin Xiangnan laughed in anger and started rolling up her sleeves.
Wang Hu wasn’t scared at all, he tugged on Liu Feng’s sleeve and acted cute, “Mom~ look~ at~ her~”
