Chapter 98: Men Do Laundry
“You’re so weird! Who asked you? ”Captain Wang rolled his eyes in exasperation.
He had a son and a daughter, and soon a third child was on the way. He had no time for children.
Only a newbie dad like Gu Zhenhua would be so excited.
Ignoring Captain Wang , Gu Zhenhua continued talking to himself, “My kid is already two months old, and I just noticed. I’m so careless.”
He was careless, and Lin Xiangnan was careless too. Her period was always regular, and she never felt uncomfortable. Since her period wasn’t causing any trouble, Lin Xiangnan didn’t pay much attention to it.
Who knew, without realizing it, she was already two months pregnant.
With such good news, Lin Xiangnan naturally wrote a letter to her family, telling them about it.
As she was writing, Gu Zhenhua leaned over and said, “Why don’t you bring your mom over? If I’m on a training exercise, a drill, or a mission, I won’t feel comfortable leaving you alone.”
Gu Zhenhua had done his fair share of housework, and even if it meant taking care of her during her confinement period, he could handle it.
But he was afraid of unforeseen circumstances, so inviting Hu Meili over would be safer.
“My mom just went back home not long ago. We’ll talk about it later.” Lin Xiangnan felt strong and healthy, with no problems at all.
“Then send her some good things regularly, keep her happy, and don’t make her angry.”
Gu Zhenhua was very self-aware, “The only reliable elder we have is your mom. My mom is definitely not reliable. Even if she volunteered to take care of you, I wouldn’t dare let her come.”
He cupped Lin Xiangnan’s face and said earnestly, “You have such a gentle personality, if you meet someone like my mother, wouldn’t you be bullied to death?”
“That’s right.” Lin Xiangnan whispered, “Your mom is too fierce.”
Before Lin Xiangnan could say anything, Gu Zhenhua felt sorry for her, hugged her, and patted her comfortingly.
“It’s tough on you. Don’t worry, I’ll handle my family matters myself, and I won’t let them bother you.”
Lin Xiangnan nodded obediently, “Okay.”
Because Captain Wang had gone home and gossiped about Gu Zhenhua, Luo Caixia soon learned about Lin Xiangnan’s pregnancy.
She was pregnant herself and had a lot of experience to share with Lin Xiangnan.
“Your Gu Zhenhua is a reliable guy. So don’t be afraid, just take good care of yourself, and when the time comes, the baby will come out naturally.”
Lin Xiangnan didn’t really have anything to be afraid of. When she wasn’t busy, she would go to the city with Hua Daniu.
However, now Hua Daniu only accompanied her in the city and didn’t go to the surrounding suburbs, afraid of the bumpy roads.
She wouldn’t even let Lin Xiangnan ride her bicycle for too long. Once they reached the city, they would park the bicycle and take the bus.
Luo Caixia’s physical condition couldn’t compare to Lin Xiangnan’s. She was always uncomfortable during her pregnancy. So this time, Luo Caixia also brought two packs of sour plums for Lin Xiangnan.
“I like eating this. You can suck on one when you feel uncomfortable, it might help.”
“I won’t be polite then.” Lin Xiangnan took the plums and asked curiously, “When are you due? It should be soon, right?”
“It’s this month.”
Speaking of this, Luo Caixia found it a bit funny. She said, “I originally wanted Lao Wang to take care of me during my confinement period. Who knew the burden would fall on him, and he knew how to find a solution.”
If it weren’t for herself and the unborn child in her belly, Luo Caixia wouldn’t have the courage to fight with Captain Wang .
She had made a fuss several times, finally scaring Captain Wang .
So Luo Caixia felt that she could safely leave the post-childbirth matters to Captain Wang.
But when the responsibility was actually handed over to Captain Wang, he proactively sent Xiaobao to a daycare center and wrote a letter back to his hometown, asking his relatives to come and take care of Luo Caixia.
“When Sister Xiulan advised me, I told Lao Wang that I wanted to ask the aunties in the nearby teams to take care of me during my confinement period. Lao Wang refused without hesitation, saying it would be bad for the reputation.”
Now that it was Captain Wang’s turn to do the work, he knew how to find someone.
But Captain Wang, didn’t forget what he said before, and he was too embarrassed to ask the aunties in the nearby teams. Instead, he wrote a letter home and asked his relatives to help.
Although he felt bad about the money, he could bear with the confinement for two months at most. At least he had someone to help him, and he could breathe a sigh of relief during this period.
Lin Xiangnan laughed after hearing this, “It’s good that you’re clear-headed. If you were willing to suffer, you would have endless suffering.”
“I’ve come to terms with it now. If I were like Lao Wang’s previous wife, always enduring, I would only endure until death. If I died, Lao Wang wouldn’t even shed a tear, he would happily remarry. But if I died, what would happen to my child?”
Luo Caixia touched her belly, her expression infinitely tender.
The reason she had the courage to resist was because of her child.
When she first married Captain Wang, Xiaobao was sickly and looked heartbreaking. She carefully nurtured him for a long time before he recovered.
Luo Caixia was also afraid that if something happened to her, her child would be like Xiaobao, like her own childhood, without a mother’s protection, their life would be difficult.
“Fortunately, Lao Wang has now made all the arrangements, and I can relax.”
Luo Caixia was now looking forward to her relatives from her hometown coming soon, so that she could lighten her burden.
A few days later, when Lin Xiangnan came back from outside, she saw a new face at the Wang family’s house.
Luo Caixia was organizing the vegetable racks in the yard. Seeing Lin Xiangnan, she greeted her proactively, “You’re back.”
“I’m back.” Lin Xiangnan asked proactively, “Your relatives from your hometown are here? Why are they so young?”
She thought it would be an older woman, someone who didn’t need to work in the team.
Luo Caixia walked a few steps towards the outside and whispered, “That’s Lao Wang’s sister-in-law’s younger sister, named Han Qiao. Her child drowned in the river a couple of years ago, and her husband died last year. There were always gossips in her hometown, so my sister-in-law wanted her to come to the city to avoid them.”
After Luo Caixia said this, Lin Xiangnan understood.
Only women without family ties could come and help. If they had a husband and children at home, they wouldn’t be able to leave.
Lin Xiangnan originally wanted to raise her head and greet Han Qiao, but when she turned her head, she saw Han Qiao secretly looking at her.
Her face was quite honest, but her eyes were rolling too fast.
Lin Xiangnan instantly lost the desire to greet her. She got on her bicycle and waved, “I’m leaving. I’m going back.”
As soon as Lin Xiangnan left, Han Qiao went up to Luo Caixia and asked, “Who is that person? She seems so imposing. Is she some kind of leader?”
“She’s our neighbor next door. She’s a good person.” Luo Caixia didn’t say anything else, and instead said, “I’ll take you to the streets later, show you the way to the grocery store and the grain store.”
“Okay.” Han Qiao agreed readily.
During the day, she followed Luo Caixia to familiarize herself with the surroundings and didn’t talk much.
When everyone came back at night, Han Qiao suddenly said, “It’s really strange in your city. You actually let men do the laundry.”
