Chapter 122: Raising a Child
Zhao Jiashan cried while holding her child.
Zhao Jiashan’s husband also rushed over after hearing the news.
The couple held their child with red eyes and kept thanking everyone.
Jiang Yan sat in the police station office drinking hot water.
“They are my students. I happened to run into them looking for their child while eating, so I followed them.”
Jiang Yan’s face was still pale, but he was clear and coherent.
Because of the winter vacation, there were many students and teachers in the restaurants outside the school, so it was normal to run into them.
And fortunately, Jiang Yan was there; otherwise, even if the police arrived, Shen Sangyu might have been injured.
After the police understood the situation, they saw that Jiang Yan was not in good spirits and let him go back first.
Jiang Yan nodded, slowly stood up, and said in a gentle voice: “Classmate Zhao, don’t worry about the child being found. You must be more careful in the future.”
Zhao Jiashan’s eyes fell instantly when she heard it: “Yeah!”
She had received too much kindness since she came to Sijiu City.
Kind classmates, kind teachers, and roommates who always care about her.
Because of too much kindness, she let down her guard and almost let her child be abducted by human traffickers.
At this time, a black Hongqi car stopped at the door of the police station, and a man in black leather shoes got out of the car in a hurry.
Jiang Yan glanced at the man and said to the policeman, “My brother is here to pick me up. I’ll go back first.”
The policeman glanced at the Hongqi license plate and the man’s face and nodded quickly.
Jiang Yan’s face seemed to be even worse, and his steps were a little faster when he got in the car.
Shen Sangyu glanced at the man who left in a hurry and felt that she seemed to have seen him somewhere before.
But the man came and went in a hurry, and Shen Sangyu didn’t have time to think about it.
The statements of several of them were almost completed. The trafficker was still being interrogated by the police.
Apart from confessing what happened today, he said nothing else, only that it was the first time he had done such a thing.
But such words were only spoken by a three-year-old child. Who would believe it?
It is impossible that such a perfect plan could be executed only once to abduct a child quietly in a downtown area, and to collaborate with the specific details and companions.
Because they could not get anything out of the interrogation for the time being, several people planned to go back to school first.
However, before Shen Sangyu left, she suddenly thought of something and looked at the little boy in a suit who had not said a word from beginning to end.
“Comrade police, is this child going to stay in the police station forever?”
The little boy in the suit looked about four or five years old, with a thin face. He should have been abducted for several days.
When he heard her voice, he looked over immediately.
“I don’t know if this child is frightened. We asked about his family situation before, but he didn’t say a word.”
Shen Sangyu nodded: “This child didn’t speak before, but he is mentally normal.”
When she entered the room, she saw glass fragments on the ground. If she guessed correctly, it should be the little boy’s doing.
Shen Sangyu thought about it, and still walked over and squatted in front of the child, saying softly: “Little boy, what’s your name?”
The little boy in the suit had a pair of black eyes, smart and beautiful, with straight eyelashes, casting a shadow in the dim light.
Shen Sangyu waited for a long time, but the other party didn’t speak.
Just when Shen Sangyu was about to give up and stand up, she suddenly felt a chill on her wrist.
Looking down, it was a dirty little hand.
“Gu Zhen.”
Gu Zhen’s dark eyes blinked, as if he was afraid that his voice was too soft and Shen Sangyu couldn’t hear him, and he said again: “My name is Gu Zhen.”
Shen Sangyu was stunned for a moment, then reacted: “So you can talk!”
The police were also happy: “After all this time, he can talk! We asked him for so long before, but this child didn’t say a word. We all thought he was mute.”
“It’s possible that he was really scared.” Shen Sangyu actually didn’t believe that Gu Zhen was a little mute at first.
But Gu Zhen’s current state was indeed a little wrong, as if he was isolating himself from the air and immersed in his own world.
When she spoke to the police just now, Gu Zhen did react a little, looking at her straight, but didn’t say anything.
Shen Sangyu continued: “Then do you know where your home is? What’s your father’s name?”
The little guy opened his hands.
Shen Sangyu was stunned for a while, and the child in front of her rushed over and hugged her thighs.
Shen Sangyu only then reacted and quickly picked up the child.
Gu Zhen yawned, then fell asleep on Shen Sangyu’s shoulder.
“Hey, this kid!”
The police were a little helpless when they saw this.
Shen Sangyu said: “You can check the public security system of Sijiu City. It seems that the child has been missing for several days.
The family’s conditions should not be bad; they must have called the police.”
The police immediately reacted and quickly called the people in the police stations in each jurisdiction.
But the city of Sijiu is so big that it will take a while to check all the cases.
Shen Sangyu thought for a while and said, “Comrade police, can you please let me take the child to school first? I will send him to you at 7 o’clock tomorrow morning.”
The police then noticed that Gu Zhen’s hands were tightly holding Shen Sangyu’s clothes.
Shen Sangyu wanted to take his hands away, but Gu Zhen was small and strong, and she couldn’t move them no matter what.
Knowing that Shen Sangyu was a student of Yanda University, the officer thought for a moment and nodded, “Okay, send the child over tomorrow.”
Shen Sangyu nodded and went back to school with several roommates.
Dabao was also frightened today, and the two of them took a child back to the dormitory.
Gu Zhen woke up once when they returned to the dormitory.
The child was visibly flustered when he saw the unfamiliar environment.
But after a while, he saw Shen Sangyu sitting by the bed.
Gu Zhen breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn’t say anything, and he went straight to Shen Sangyu when he saw her.
Shen Sangyu had no experience taking care of children in both of her lives. When Gu Zhen came over, her body stiffened, but after sensing that Gu Zhen was insecure, she gently patted his back.
“It’s just right that you woke up; go take a shower first.”
There were no clothes for children in the dormitory. Shen Sangyu glanced at the time and realized it was too late to buy new clothes. She simply took out a new set of clothes for Gu Zhen as pajamas.
Although Gu Zhen didn’t speak, he seemed very obedient to Shen Sangyu.
When asked if he could take a shower by himself, Gu Zhen looked at her for a long time and then nodded obediently.
Shen Sangyu got him some hot water and let him manage in the bathroom by himself.
She had never taken care of a child before and felt unsure about how to help.
Zhao Jiashan couldn’t stand it anymore and wanted to help, but Gu Zhen refused to let anyone touch him.
Shen Sangyu had no choice but to give Gu Zhen a bath.
However, after taking a bath, Gu Zhen’s big black eyes became more lively, revealing some bruises on his body, which should have been caused by the violence of the human traffickers.
There happened to be safflower oil in the dormitory, so Shen Sangyu carried Gu Zhen to the bed and rubbed the wound gently.
After turning off the lights, Gu Zhen hugged Shen Sangyu. Even in the dark, Shen Sangyu could see that Gu Zhen was still awake.
Shen Sangyu whispered, “Why aren’t you asleep yet? Aren’t you sleepy?”
Gu Zhen in her arms moved, and then his back was gently soothed.
Shen Sangyu’s voice was as gentle as water: “Gu Zhen, go to sleep. Your parents will come to see you tomorrow.”
