Chapter 48: Choose Not to Forgive
Under the moonlight, Shen Sangyu’s face was pale, and her originally pink lips had turned bloodless.
The cold sweat and blood on her forehead mixed together, creating a shocking sight.
Wen Qingchuan was shocked. He looked down and saw that Shen Sangyu’s calves were slightly bent.
He didn’t dare to move. Although the wind was biting, the sweat on his forehead was no less than Shen Sangyu’s.
Wen Qingchuan’s voice was tense: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
At this time, Shen Xu had already run over with the military district personnel and doctors.
Shen Sangyu was startled when she saw the fully armed people. She didn’t care about her own injuries; instead, she leaned on Wen Qingchuan’s arms and whispered, “Why are there so many people?”
“I asked the military district for help.”
Wen Qingchuan explained, and the doctor quickly approached. He hurriedly said, “Please help her.
She said her legs hurt, and there’s a lot of blood on her forehead. She had also been injured in the head before.”
The doctor first checked Shen Sangyu’s legs and then looked at her forehead. Seeing that her injuries were serious, he said urgently, “Send her to the hospital first.”
Wen Qingchuan nodded. The bones in Shen Sangyu’s legs were likely injured, and he didn’t dare to move her. He could only let the doctor prepare a stretcher.
Before they left, Wen Qingchuan hesitated for a moment but still held Shen Sangyu’s hand: “I’ll come to see you after I finish my things here, okay?”
Shen Sangyu hesitated but finally nodded. She had no relatives here and was actually afraid to be alone in the hospital, so she choked up and said, “You must come.”
“I’ll definitely come.”
Shen Sangyu was sent to the ambulance.
Shen Xu urged, “Boss, why don’t you come with me to see my sister? I’ll take care of things here.”
Wen Qingchuan’s face became extremely gloomy after Shen Sangyu left, and he shook his head, “No, I’ll handle it myself.”
The gangsters were taken to the police station by Zhou Xinghua. When the handcuffs were put on her, Zhou Xinghua reacted:
“I don’t want it! Why do you handcuff me? I want to see my dad! Do you know who my dad is? I want to see my dad!”
“Wen Qingchuan, you can’t do this to me!”
After entering the police station, Wen Qingchuan watched Zhou Xinghua being taken into the interrogation room.
“Captain Wen.”
The director of the 49th Police Station saw Wen Qingchuan and hurried over.
He had just gotten home today when someone called to say that the wife of a regiment commander in the military district had been kidnapped.
This scared him so much that he couldn’t eat anymore; he put on his police uniform and rushed over.
He came in a hurry and didn’t know the specific situation. When he saw Wen Qingchuan upon entering, his whole heart skipped a beat.
Wen Qingchuan was a well-known figure among the military and police. At a young age, he had reached the level of a regiment commander and made great achievements. Just standing there, he was like a walking golden man.
The director thought that if he could achieve the same success as Wen Qingchuan in his life, he would wake up laughing in his dreams.
But Wen Qingchuan was very low-key. If he hadn’t seen him often at commendation meetings, he might not have recognized him.
“Director Li.”
Wen Qingchuan turned around and saluted Li Zaisheng when he heard the voice.
Director Li returned the salute, then took a look at Wen Qingchuan’s face and had a bad feeling in his heart: “Captain Wen came to the police station; could it be…”
“I am a family member of the victim. I came here to report the case.”
It’s over!
Even though he had a guess in his mind, Director Li’s heart still skipped a beat. He quickly expressed his concern: “How could this happen? Is your wife okay?”
Wen Qingchuan was reluctant to say more and only mentioned that she was still in the hospital.
Director Li saw that Wen Qingchuan was a little impatient, and he understood very well.
If it were his own wife who had been kidnapped and sent to the hospital, he would probably find a place where no one was around to cry.
“Director Li, I have no other needs in reporting the case. I just want to tell you that my attitude towards Zhou Xinghua and those gangsters is one of no reconciliation, no forgiveness, and that the sentence will be whatever the law requires.
If the other party is dissatisfied and wants to hire a lawyer or appeal, that’s fine, but I won’t meet with the family.”
Wen Qingchuan’s attitude was very tough, so tough that Director Li was momentarily speechless.
The interrogation hadn’t started yet, and he didn’t know much information, but the fact that the military district had called in person was enough to show the importance of this matter.
“Don’t worry, Captain Wen, we will definitely handle it impartially,” Li Zaisheng assured, then asked, “Are you going to the interrogation room?”
Wen Qingchuan hesitated for a moment. Shen Xu had just answered a phone call and reported, “The results from the hospital are out.
The injury on my sister forehead is not serious, but her calf fracture requires surgery.
After hearing the news, Chief Yang personally guarded it. He asked us to finish the matter here before going back.”
Wen Qingchuan lowered his eyes and then nodded, “Let’s go to the interrogation room first.”
When the three entered the interrogation room, the police officers had already started questioning the gangsters.
The gangsters were not seriously injured and did not need to go to the hospital.
They were frightened by the presence of so many armed soldiers and, realizing they had offended people they shouldn’t have, began to confess one by one.
Several of them were locked up separately. Wen Qingchuan approached the interrogation room of one gangster first.
As soon as he entered, he heard the gangster crying, “Police comrade, we just did it for money.
We just wanted to scare her. It was that Zhou Xinghua who asked us to do it. It’s really none of our business.”
The interrogating police asked, “Did you just tie up Shen Sangyu and do nothing else?”
The gangster swallowed hard, not daring to say anything that would ruin her innocence: “Yes, we just wanted to scare her.”
“But that’s not what my wife told me.” After listening to the conversation, Wen Qingchuan couldn’t hide the anger in his tone:
“That’s not what your accomplice said. We just wanted to scare her? Who do you think will believe that?”
The gangster was startled. Looking at Wen Qingchuan, the God of Killing, he wanted to refute but couldn’t find the words.
“False confession is aggravated. Do you want to stay in prison for two more years?”
The gangster wavered, becoming more uncertain: “I… I said, I said everything. It was the girl named Zhou Xinghua who gave us fifty yuan each and asked us to kidnap Shen Sangyu, and then let us…”
The gangster didn’t dare to hide it anymore. He lowered his head and told everything.
Director Li was stunned after hearing it. He really didn’t expect that Zhou Xinghua would be so vicious!
Destroying someone’s innocence is more uncomfortable than killing someone! Within a few hours, the other three gangsters couldn’t stand the continuous interrogation and confessed to their crimes.
Only Zhou Xinghua refused to answer no matter how she was questioned after entering the police station.
After Zhou’s father learned the news, he asked to see his daughter and Wen Qingchuan.
Wen Qingchuan glanced at the clock hanging on the wall of the police station and didn’t care whether Zhou Xinghua admitted it or not.
He let Shen Xu stay and went to the hospital by himself.
“The operation was very successful. You will recover in two months after being discharged from the hospital. Be careful not to get the wound wet these days.”
Shen Sangyu was transferred from the operating room to a double ward. She had stopped bleeding from her forehead and had received treatment.
The doctor informed her that she had a concussion.
Yang Junzhi and a group of leaders she didn’t know were listening to the doctor’s words, and their expressions were more solemn than her own as the patient.
After the doctor left, Shen Sangyu glanced at Yang Junzhi, the only person she knew in the ward, and asked carefully, “Uncle Yang, when will Wen Qingchuan come back?”
As soon as she finished speaking, the door of the ward opened.
Wen Qingchuan appeared in front of her.
