Chapter 78: Sleeping Together
Shen Sangyu didn’t feel wronged about sleeping in the utility room, but that didn’t mean she could accept it under the circumstances.
Even if Wen Qingchuan hadn’t returned, he was the one who had renovated and rebuilt the house.
The rest of the family had tidy rooms, yet she and Wen Qingchuan were relegated to the utility room?
With a heavy sigh, Shen Sangyu’s expression darkened. “You boil some water first; I’ll tidy up the room.”
Wen Qingchuan replied, “Take out your luggage; I’ll tidy up the room later.”
After a brief pause, he added, “We’ll move out in two days.”
Shen Sangyu was momentarily taken aback, and then she realized that Wen Qingchuan wasn’t angry; he was just planning a big move!
“Okay, we’ll move out then.”
Once Wen Qingchuan left, Shen Sangyu began packing her luggage. Her gaze fell on her heavy bag of snacks.
In order to get home before dark, they had barely rested or eaten for two whole days.
They had thought that no matter how much Li Shuhua disliked Wen Qingchuan, she would at least offer them a meal, but it seemed that wasn’t the case.
Shen Sangyu rummaged through her snacks, finding an assortment of bread and biscuits, most of which were her favorites.
After considering it, she pulled out a generous amount from the bag.
Wen Qingchuan had a big appetite, so he needed to eat more.
While waiting for Wen Qingchuan in the room, Shen Sangyu was lost in thought when the wooden door swung open.
She looked up to see Wen Qingchuan entering with two bowls of noodles.
Shen Sangyu gasped, “Wen Qingchuan, have you been downstairs in the kitchen?” She quickly got up from the bed and leaned over to look, discovering three poached eggs in her bowl!
“You didn’t eat anything today; you should eat more,” he said with a smile.
The utility room felt a bit cramped, so Shen Sangyu suggested, “Let’s go out to eat.”
Wen Qingchuan turned around and carried the bowls outside.
As soon as he stepped out, he spotted Li Shuhua entering from the main door, accompanied by a middle-aged man in his fifties.
The man had a prominent “ character between his brows, dark skin, and a stern expression.
Then Shen Sangyu heard Wen Qingchuan call out, “Dad.”
This was Wen Qingchuan’s father, Wen Guande.
The original owner didn’t know much about the Wen family, but she was aware that no one in the family particularly liked him.
Shen Sangyu stayed silent, as at that moment, Li Shuhua’s eyes were already fixed on her bowl.
When Li Shuhua saw the crispy fried eggs in Shen Sangyu’s bowl three of them, to be precise her expression darkened immediately.
“You’re eating three eggs by yourself!” she exclaimed.
Shen Sangyu rolled her eyes, thinking, isn’t it just saying that I eat a lot?
Feigning ignorance, she weakly picked up a poached egg and transferred it to Wen Qingchuan’s bowl. “I’ll eat two.”
Before Li Shuhua could protest, Shen Sangyu blinked innocently and said, “Mom, do you think I don’t deserve to eat poached eggs?”
Li Shuhua: “…”
She looked at Shen Sangyu in confusion, unable to comprehend the strange tone of her daughter-in-law, her expression tightening as if she were swatting away flies.
It had to be said, birds of a feather flock together. The Wen couple had been together for decades, and the” character between their brows was a mirror of each other.
Seizing the moment, Shen Sangyu let her eyes redden. “Mom, you must not have known we were back today, so you didn’t save any food for us.
Don’t worry; I won’t tell anyone. I’ll just say tomorrow that my mother is generous enough to give me two poached eggs!”
Li Shuhua: “…”
Wen Qingchuan looked at his acting wife, a slight smile playing on his lips. “Mom, I send back a lot of money every month, shouldn’t it be okay to eat two eggs?”
The veins on Li Shuhua’s forehead were prominent, and the muscles on her harsh face twitched slightly.
How could she not hear that her eldest son and daughter-in-law were threatening her!
If she cared about these three eggs, when Shen Sangyu brought it up tomorrow, she would be ridiculed by the old women at the village entrance.
Taking a deep breath, Li Shuhua calmed herself down, a strange smile on her face. “Look at what you said, would I be unwilling to give you three eggs?
You finally come back once, eat as much as you want!”
Shen Sangyu blinked, her kind look almost blinding Li Shuhua.
Sure enough, Shen Sangyu spoke next: “Mom, you are so kind.”
Then she turned to Wen Qingchuan: “Qingchuan, you must not have enough to eat, why don’t you go and fry two more eggs?”
Wen Qingchuan suppressed his laughter and nodded calmly.
Li Shuhua wanted to get angry, but every time she wanted to speak, she was held back by Shen Sangyu’s eyes. In the end, she went back to the house.
Shen Sangyu sat in the house eating noodles, and soon she heard curses coming from the main house.
Shen Sangyu shook her head and said: “Your mother is in menopause.”
Wen Qingchuan didn’t understand what menopause was, but still nodded in agreement: “She has always been like this.”
Wen Qingchuan ate quickly, but he wasn’t full with only one bowl of noodles.
So after Shen Sangyu took a bath, he really went to make another bowl of noodles and fried three poached eggs with lard.
Wen Qingchuan was eating noodles in the living room, listening to the sound of Shen Sangyu taking a bath, and suddenly felt that his wife’s thoughts seemed to be much more open than his own.
He had no relatives, his parents didn’t like him, and his brothers and sisters didn’t get close to him. He saw this clearly when he was seventeen.
So in the next ten years, he didn’t expect love from his parents and siblings, but he never thought of “revenge”.
Shen Sangyu was different. She wouldn’t deliberately contradict her parents, but she would never compromise with them or anyone else.
Just like today’s fried egg, Shen Sangyu didn’t think she shouldn’t eat it.
If Sangyu wasn’t around, he probably wouldn’t have been able to do it.
When Shen Sangyu came out, Wen Qingchuan had already finished the noodle soup.
She called several times, and it wasn’t until the third time that Wen Qingchuan reacted.
Shen Sangyu looked puzzled: “Aren’t you full? Why don’t you go fry a few more eggs?”
She knew that men had a big appetite, and when they were at home, they usually had two dishes and one soup.
Wen Qingchuan couldn’t help but chuckle after hearing this: “No more.”
“What’s gone?”
Wen Qingchuan said seriously: “The eggs are gone.”
Shen Sangyu was surprised: “Aren’t there so many chickens at home? How come they are gone?”
Shen Sangyu didn’t know the situation in the Wen family kitchen, but there were more than a dozen chickens and a few ducks in the yard.
If they laid one every day, there would be more than ten eggs every day.
She guessed that Li Shuhua was afraid that they would eat more, so she hid them.
But Shen Sangyu’s guess was not wrong. Li Shuhua just locked the cabinet door with a curse, and the purpose was to prevent Wen Qingchuan from eating more.
“Not every chicken can lay eggs, and the conditions are not very good now. Sometimes chickens won’t lay eggs for two or three days.”
Wen Qingchuan finished explaining, glanced at Shen Sangyu, whose face was red due to lack of life knowledge, and laughed softly.
“I’ll go wash the dishes, you rest first.”
Shen Sangyu nodded hurriedly, but just as she walked to the door of the room, she was suddenly stunned when she saw the small bed.
Tonight… wouldn’t she be sleeping with Wen Qingchuan?
