Chapter 16: Li Libin Takes Action

The task assigned to Yu Zihan and Zhou Mengrui was to sweep the floor and take out the trash.

Everyone was eager to go home, so the cleaning was done quickly. In less than twenty minutes, they finished the job.

Yu Zihan and Zhou Mengrui walked towards the school gate, chatting and laughing.

“Mengrui, when you have time, come over to my house to play. My house is at the very end of Dongshun Alley,” Yu Zihan said to Zhou Mengrui.

“Sure! I’ll come over in a few days, but I need to catch up on sleep at home for the next few days.

Ah, I’m so hungry. Let’s hurry up,” Zhou Mengrui said, and Yu Zihan felt her stomach rumble in agreement.

After they left the school gate, they could still walk together for about ten more minutes. So, they quickened their pace.

When they reached a small alley, Yu Zihan sensed that someone was following them. She clearly felt a danger approaching them.

Yu Zihan immediately recalled her previous life, where she had been tricked by the Li siblings into the mountains. She keenly realized that this time was definitely not a coincidence; it must be Li Libin’s scheme against her.

She subtly grabbed Zhou Mengrui’s hand and quickened her steps.

As long as they could get out of this alley, they would be on the main street, where there were people coming and going. Surely, they wouldn’t be so reckless, she thought as she walked.

Just as Yu Zihan had guessed, the two people following them were indeed sent by Li Libin to deal with her.

They were experienced traffickers. They initially planned to just kidnap Yu Zihan, but seeing the extra chubby girl, they decided to take both of them instead.

Being sold to that place, it didn’t matter if the girls were pretty; as long as they were female, it was fine. Besides, that chubby girl looked more useful than the skinny one.

Having made up their minds, they followed at a distance.

Just as they were about to exit the alley, the three of them quickly surrounded Yu Zihan and Zhou Mengrui.

Yu Zihan had some skills; she released Zhou Mengrui’s hand, turned sharply, and with a spinning kick, knocked down the first trafficker.

The man didn’t expect that this girl would be a tough nut to crack. In a moment of desperation, he changed his original strategy.

He put his fingers to his mouth and let out a loud, distinctive whistle. At that moment, a door in the alley quickly opened, and several burly men came out.

Those men clearly had some skills. Yu Zihan was confident in her ability to handle them, so she began to unleash a flurry of attacks. Meanwhile, Zhou Mengrui was so frightened that she was in a daze, staring at Yu Zihan as she fought fiercely.

One of the big men took advantage of Zhou Mengrui’s distraction, grabbing her and dragging her into the courtyard. When Yu Zihan saw Zhou Mengrui being pulled into the yard, she became anxious.

She knew that her best course of action was to report to the police. Then they could catch these people all at once. However, there was a risk that her actions would alert them, allowing them to escape with Zhou Mengrui.

If they managed to escape with Mengrui, then Mengrui would likely suffer the same fate she had experienced in her past life, and she couldn’t allow that to happen.

Yu Zihan’s mind was racing.

Now, facing these skilled thugs alone, she had a chance of winning, but it would take time, and she couldn’t achieve that in the short term.

During their fight, she had no idea what these men would do to Zhou Mengrui.

Zhou Mengrui was in great danger inside; having gone through a similar ordeal in her past life, Yu Zihan understood exactly what they were planning to do next.

Yu Zihan couldn’t let Zhou Mengrui face this danger alone. She had to be by her side as soon as possible. No matter what, she couldn’t let these scumbags harm Mengrui.

Just as she was feeling anxious, she caught a glimpse of the door across the courtyard opening slightly, with a pair of eyes watching everything unfold.

She deliberately slipped, causing her backpack to fall to the ground.

Hopefully, things would go as she imagined, and the person behind the door would go to report to the police.

This time, she was betting on human nature; she had no other options left. From the person’s eyes, she saw fear but also a hint of compassion and justice.

The reason she left her backpack was to prepare for the worst, in case they encountered danger or were moved. Perhaps her identity information could provide some clues.

She had already determined that this incident was directly related to Li Libin, even though she hadn’t seen him.

In her desperation, she could only think of these things. She had to take risks and pretended to stumble. As she wobbled, a nearby thug grabbed her.

“Why aren’t you dragging her in too?” a man whispered.

Thus, Yu Zihan was pulled into the courtyard.

During the struggle, Yu Zihan communicated with her space, asking if it could hide Zhou Mengrui.

The space was silent for a moment before giving her an answer: yes, but at a cost. That cost was that she wouldn’t be able to use the space again for ten years, nor could she use the learning system.

Although Yu Zihan felt a bit pained by the cost, she decided to use the space to save her friend’s life at a critical moment.

Sure enough, when she was pushed into a room, not only was Zhou Mengrui there, but also five other girls.

At a glance, she could tell that these girls had clearly suffered inhumane abuse. Their eyes were vacant, and their expressions were numb.

Both Yu Zihan and Zhou Mengrui had their hands bound, but their feet were still able to move. Yu Zihan quickly walked over to Zhou Mengrui and said, “Don’t be afraid, stay calm, we will definitely get out.”

Zhou Mengrui was still in a daze, but upon hearing Yu Zihan’s words, she wanted to cry out loudly, only to be silenced by Yu Zihan’s gaze.

“Right now, we should avoid alarming them. Let’s assess the situation first,” Yu Zihan urged her.

Suddenly, a delicious smell of food wafted in from outside. Smelling the aroma, Yu Zihan temporarily felt relieved. Luckily, they arrived just in time for the meal. Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Yu Zihan thought they were running out of time; once these people finished eating, they would begin their beastly actions. She had to come up with a way to save themselves.

She communicated with the space, asking if it could provide her with some weapons suitable for girls, like a stun baton.

“Yes, but it will cost you all your previous points,” a voice echoed in her mind.

“Okay.” Yu Zihan resolutely exchanged for a stun baton. She checked it and was pleasantly surprised to find it was the highest power model.

To her delight, she discovered a small dagger was included as a bonus.

She immediately transferred the dagger to her hand with her mind and began cutting the ropes binding her. It took a lot of effort to cut through the ropes. Then she said to Zhou Mengrui, “Turn around, I’ll untie you.”

Zhou Mengrui looked at Yu Zihan with joy and immediately complied.

Yu Zihan untied Zhou Mengrui’s ropes. Then they both looked at the other girls.

The two of them stepped forward and said to the girls, “We’re going to untie you now, and if we get the chance, we’ll escape from here.” Yu Zihan told the girls.

Unfortunately, only one of the girls responded positively, while the others seemed not to understand what they were saying. Zhou Mengrui helped the responsive girl untie her ropes.

Yu Zihan worked on persuading the other four.

“If we don’t untie the ropes, we will be restricted if there’s a chance to escape. You all hate those people, right? We need to unite and find a chance to resist. If we don’t fight back and get sold to the mountains, we’ll have no chance at all.”

After Yu Zihan’s patient persuasion, the girls finally stopped being so indifferent and numb, and expressions began to appear on their faces.

Before long, the ropes were all untied. Yu Zihan looked around the room and noticed some farming tools. She told the others, “Find something you can use as a weapon. When the time comes, follow my lead, and we’ll give it our all to take them down. Today, it’s either them or us.”

To boost their confidence, Yu Zihan started making bold claims: “I’ve already called the police. They will come to rescue us soon. As long as we hold on until they arrive, we will be saved.”

Upon hearing Yu Zihan’s words, the girls’ eyes visibly lit up, and they began to look for suitable tools. Fortunately, this was a storage room filled with lumber and various tools, including shovels, hammers, and hoes.

Having these tools in their hands gave them more confidence.
