Chapter 2 : Why would he leave such a good candidate and instead come to you?
Song Shiwei: “……”
She even wanted to curse!
The male lead of this book is definitely out of his mind! Is he a psychopath? A narcissist?!
She had already been avoiding them, but they still kept dragging her into the plot!
Song Shiwei angrily scratched her head, thinking about how to escape this storyline when suddenly, someone walked into the hotel entrance.
The man was tall and slender, wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his muscular arms.
He wore army-green pants, making his long legs appear even more straight and well-defined.
But the most striking thing about him was his face—handsome, with sharp, angular features, exuding a heroic aura.
He pushed open the door and strode in their direction.
Song Shiwei’s eyes lit up. Got it! ??
She rushed forward and grabbed the man’s arm, completely ignoring his shocked expression. She turned to Ji Yanli and Jiang Xinxin and said, “I’m sorry, but I’m really not interested in you. Why don’t you take a good look at yourself? Why would I keep pestering you?”
As she spoke, she glanced up at the man beside her. Seeing him looking at her with a questioning gaze, she quickly winked at him, hoping he would play along.
However, seeing him up close, her heart couldn’t help but skip a beat, she hadn’t expected him to be even more handsome in person!
Zhou Tingyue looked down at the petite girl beside him, blinking at him with an apologetic expression. He wanted to pull his arm away but suddenly hesitated.
Judging by the situation, he could tell what was happening.
Since it wasn’t anything illegal, he might as well go along with it.
Seeing that the man beside her didn’t pull away and was even cooperating with her, Song Shiwei was touched, and the weight on her heart lifted.
She glanced at Ji Yanli, whose face looked extremely sour, and continued, “In terms of looks, my boyfriend is much better looking than you. And in terms of profession…”
Uh, she actually had no idea what the man’s job was.
Zhou Tingyue seemed to understand her dilemma, raised an eyebrow, and smiled. “I’m a soldier, a regimental-level officer.”
Song Shiwei was delighted. She hadn’t expected him to be so cooperative.
“See? Even in terms of career, my boyfriend is way out of your league. So why would I cling to you? Why would I abandon such a great partner and chase after you? Unless I was crazy!”
After finishing, Song Shiwei carefully observed the two people in front of her. Seeing Ji Yanli so furious that he looked like he was about to explode, she felt immense satisfaction.
Right now, she just wanted to get out of this plot as soon as possible. She had no interest in being cannon fodder, she just wanted to stay far away from the male and female leads, survive, and live her own life in peace.
Therefore, the best outcome would be if the male and female lead were completely fed up with her and wanted to avoid her whenever they saw her!
Sure enough, Ji Yanli was irritated by her.
He kept looking at Zhou Tingyue across from him, and the more he looked, the darker his expression became.
That guy really was good-looking. Even if he wanted to nitpick and find a single flaw on his face, he couldn’t. Not to mention his aura and upright posture something he could never match, no matter how much he flattered himself!
On top of that, he was a regimental-level officer, which was far superior to himself, just a second-level fitter in a machinery factory.
But hearing Song Shiwei, who had always chased after him, suddenly belittling him and calling him worthless, he felt completely uncomfortable.
To make things worse, when he turned his head and saw Jiang Xinxin also looking Zhou Tingyue up and down, admiration evident in her eyes, his mood instantly soured.
He didn’t even feel like eating anymore.
So, he grabbed Jiang Xinxin and left.
As he passed by Song Shiwei, he paused for a moment, gave her a sidelong glance with an unreadable expression, then strode away.
Song Shiwei watched them leave the restaurant and finally let out a sigh of relief.
Great! Great! They’re finally gone!!
According to the book, Ji Yanli wasn’t even supposed to bring Jiang Xinxin here for dinner today. That’s why she scheduled her blind date at this restaurant. She hadn’t expected that the plot she deliberately skipped yesterday would end up unfolding here instead.
Originally, she was supposed to go to the department store yesterday. There, she would have seen Ji Yanli buying a scarf for Jiang Xinxin and, overwhelmed by jealousy, rushed forward to snatch it away.
Seeing Jiang Xinxin’s red-rimmed eyes from grievance, Ji Yanli would have mocked her on the spot. Enraged, she would have pushed Jiang Xinxin. However, Jiang Xinxin would have lost her balance, hitting her forehead against the counter and becoming permanently disfigured.
Ji Yanli, devastated, would have shouted, “Song Shiwei, you’re crazy!” before shoving her away and rushing to check on Jiang Xinxin’s injuries.
Song Shiwei, caught off guard by the push, would have stumbled backward, failing to notice the protruding steel nail on the counter behind her. As she pressed her hand against it for support, the nail would have pierced straight through her palm, severing her tendons and permanently crippling her right hand.
From that moment on, her life would have spiraled into madness.
Ji Yanli, feeling guilty, would have visited her twice while she was in the hospital. She would have used these chances to target Jiang Xinxin again and again, constantly stirring trouble, bringing disaster upon herself, and ultimately becoming the catalyst that brought the male and female leads closer together.
Finally, on the night of their wedding, she would have wandered alone to the threshing ground where she first met Ji Yanli, reminiscing about their moments together. But there, she would have been attacked by thugs and lost her virginity. That very night, she would have thrown herself into the river and ended her life.
Every time Song Shiwei thought of the original character’s tragic fate, she couldn’t help but shudder.
Luckily, she had managed to avoid disaster this time. But deep down, a fear had taken root how could she possibly escape this damned fate?
