Military Marriage on a 1970s Island: Daily Life as a Stepmom Chapter 61

Chapter 61 : Is there anyone who would frame others like you?

Hearing this voice, Song Shiwei was stunned. If she heard correctly, wasn’t this Zhou Xiaoyan’s voice?

And her words implied that she was harming others!

She frowned, put down the spoon in her hand, wiped her hands on her apron, and hurried out.

Zhou Tingyue heard the commotion and went out before her.

When Song Shiwei came out, she saw him questioning Zhou Xiaoyan with a cold expression

“What do you mean by that? What do you mean my wife harmed others? What did my wife do? You can eat whatever you want, but you can’t say whatever you want!”

Sun Meimei, Jian Qiu, and Wang Chunxiang, who were nearby, also came out.

Seeing that it was Zhou Xiaoyan, Wang Chunxiang couldn’t help but tease her

“Zhou Xiaoyan, what’s wrong with you? Are you bored or something? Are you jealous of Weiwei’s good looks? Why are you picking on her alone and bullying her?”

Jian Qiu couldn’t stand it anymore and pulled her husband, Old Zhao, out with her.

Captain Zhao usually had a good relationship with Zhou Tingyue, so he quickly asked

“Comrade Zhou, how exactly did Tingyue’s wife harm your son, Douzi? You can’t just say that without evidence!”

Zhou Xiaoyan saw that everyone was taking Song Shiwei’s side and became both anxious and angry.

She had run all the way from the hospital. Just thinking about her son, who had been vomiting and having diarrhea after eating those crabs, then collapsed with his eyes rolling back, foaming at the mouth, and convulsing all over filled her with terror.

She and Sun Weidong had been scared out of their wits.

The two of them had quickly picked up their son and rushed to the health center.

When they arrived, the doctor immediately sent him to the emergency room after seeing his condition.

Zhou Xiaoyan’s legs went weak, her vision darkened, and she almost collapsed. When she came to her senses, she sat on the ground, crying.

Sun Weidong was also anxious, pacing back and forth while blaming her:

“I told you not to go fishing, not to pick up seafood, but you insisted on going! Look at what’s happened now! Our son got hurt!”

Zhou Xiaoyan cried even harder, feeling wronged.

“How was I supposed to know he’d have a reaction after eating it? Besides, Song Shiwei and the others picked up seafood too! I only followed them, why didn’t they get sick?”

As she was speaking, a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.

Realizing something, she slapped her thigh.

“It must be Song Shiwei who harmed me! She hurt our Douzi! She deliberately made me pick up poisonous crabs! It must be her!!”

Thinking about the past conflict between them, Zhou Xiaoyan became even more convinced.

Before Sun Weidong could say anything, she ran to the staff quarters like a gust of wind.

Thinking of her son still lying in the hospital, his fate unknown, she was filled with hatred for Song Shiwei.

She gritted her teeth and was about to rush at her, but Zhou Tingyue grabbed her arm and threw her off with a swift move.

Zhou Xiaoyan almost fell flat on her face. She immediately sat on the ground and started wailing loudly.

“Song Shiwei is harming people! Her whole family is bullying me! They even hit me! Is there any justice in this world?”

At this hour, every household had finished dinner and was preparing to rest. The family compound had been quiet, but her commotion woke everyone up. Many people put on their clothes and came out.

The division commander, chief of staff, political commissar, and commander all lived in the first row and were also disturbed.

Commander Zhao and Political Commissar Liu quickly arrived.

“What’s going on?”

Zhao Zhengde asked sternly, his face dark and serious.

Zhou Xiaoyan saw that it was the commander and felt her already weak legs grow even weaker.

But then she thought, why should she be afraid? If anyone should be afraid, it should be Song Shiwei!

Thinking of this, she immediately stood up and, through tears, began accusing Song Shiwei of her “crimes”!

“Commander, you came just in time. I want to report Song Shiwei for intentionally harming someone! My son is still lying in the hospital, and I don’t even know if he’s alive or dead. If anything happens to him, I… I won’t live either… ah…”

Zhao Zhengde was stunned when he heard this. “Wait a minute, what happened to your son? How did she harm him? Tell me everything!”

Song Shiwei sneered from the side. She wanted to see how Zhou Xiaoyan would twist things to blame her.

Zhou Xiaoyan spat at her viciously before speaking.

“My son got sick because he ate crabs. The doctor said he consumed poisonous seafood, which triggered his epilepsy! And all the seafood I picked up was the same as hers, so why was her family fine after eating it, but my son got sick? It’s obvious that Song Shiwei deliberately harmed me! Before this, our two families…”

Zhao Zhengde finally understood the situation and quickly interrupted her.

“Your son ate the seafood you picked up, right?”

Everyone turned to look at Zhou Xiaoyan. She glanced at Song Shiwei before nodding.

“That’s right, but I was following Song Shiwei the whole time when picking up seafood. I took whatever she took. Her family had no issues eating them, but my family did. That means she must have done it on purpose! Maybe she deliberately picked up poisonous seafood but didn’t eat it herself. I didn’t know any better, so I gave it to my little Douzi to eat. Isn’t that what happened?”

Song Shiwei was left speechless!

She really had to admire Zhou Xiaoyan’s wild imagination!

Was she missing a brainstem, or was her cerebellum underdeveloped?

Besides, did Zhou Xiaoyan really think she was so petty that she would go out of her way to pick up poisonous seafood just to harm her?

Did she have nothing better to do?

Not only did Song Shiwei find it ridiculous, but even Sun Meimei and the others thought Zhou Xiaoyan was talking nonsense.

Sun Meimei curled her lips and scoffed. “Zhou Xiaoyan, you’re really good at falsely accusing people. You didn’t know anything, went to the beach to pick up seafood, and now that something bad happened, you blame someone else? Who does that?”

Wang Chunxiang chimed in, “Exactly! Just because you’re petty doesn’t mean others think the same way you do!”

Zhao Zhengde waved his hand and turned to Song Shiwei, who was standing beside Zhou Tingyue.

“What do you have to say about this?”

Since arriving, Zhao Zhengde had been observing this young woman. Despite her youth, she carried herself with an extraordinary temperament and didn’t seem like someone who was petty or malicious.

Moreover, he had heard that she had once saved the lives of local villagers’ children during a heavy rainstorm. Someone willing to risk their own life to save others was a person worth learning from.

For that reason, he didn’t believe that someone like her would harm another person over such a trivial matter.

Now, after listening to Zhou Xiaoyan’s accusations, he was even more convinced that she was talking nonsense!

But he still wanted to hear what the young woman in front of him had to say.

Song Shiwei let out a cold laugh, took a step forward, and said, “This matter has nothing to do with me. After all, anyone can go to the beach I couldn’t have stopped you even if I wanted to. And if I had tried, with your petty mind, you’d definitely think I was being selfish and keeping the seafood all to myself. Then, you’d probably accuse me of deliberately stopping you!”

“But now that I didn’t stop you, you’re blaming me for what you ate? How ridiculous!”

“If you want to accuse me of harming you, at least show me some evidence. I can guarantee that all the seafood I picked up was safe to eat. You didn’t know what you were doing and picked up poisonous seafood, so who else can you blame?”
