Chapter 62 : You Are Enough

When Zhou Xiaoyan heard this, she immediately refused to believe it.  

“How is that possible? You must have thrown away the poisonous seafood! Look, I was just following your lead and ended up picking up poisonous seafood on purpose. Stop pretending you’re a vicious person!”  

Song Shiwei was so angry that she almost laughed.  

Did this woman put her brain in a blender? Otherwise, why was it all mush?  

“Zhou Xiaoyan, don’t let your lack of logic cause everyone trouble! Did I force you to go fishing? Did I grab your hand and make you pick up seafood? Did I threaten you with a knife? Besides, not all crabs are edible. I only picked up swimming crabs, blue crabs, and a few brown crabs! There are many types of crabs, and some of them are highly poisonous!”  

Seeing the surprised expressions of Sun Meimei and the others, she sighed helplessly.  

She decided it was time to educate everyone a little.  

“For example, the Mosaic Crab, also known as the Embroidered Ridge Crab, is the most poisonous crab in the world. It has a red-and-white mosaic-like pattern. Just one adult Mosaic Crab contains enough toxins to kill 45,000 mice or 400–500 adults. It’s terrifying.”  

Everyone gasped when they heard this.  

Song Shiwei continued, “Its claws aren’t poisonous, so getting pinched by it isn’t fatal. But its muscles and internal organs contain incredibly strong toxins, and even high temperatures can’t destroy them. If you cook it like a regular crab and eat it, one bite could be life-threatening.”  

“The second type is the ‘Honest and Clean’ Crab. It’s red with many small, uneven pits on its back. This crab is highly toxic and cannot be eaten. Many fishermen and marine enthusiasts have been deceived by its appearance and suffered from poisoning and severe diarrhea after eating it. In the worst cases, it can even cause shock and death!”  

“Then there’s the ‘Patterned Clean’ Crab. This crab has a dark brown to purple-green body with light brown or copper-colored cloud patterns on its back. Its venom mainly consists of pufferfish toxin and a small amount of paralytic shellfish poison, both of which can be deadly!”  

Noticing how pale everyone’s faces had become, Song Shiwei added, “And that’s just crabs! There are plenty of other marine creatures like jellyfish and cone snails that can kill a person instantly. So don’t go picking up beautiful seashells carelessly!”  

Sun Meimei and the others shuddered in fear.  

“Sounds like if we don’t know what we’re doing, we’d better not go to the sea at all!”  

Jian Qiu nodded quickly. “Exactly! Eating the wrong thing could cost us our lives!”  

Wang Chunxiang glanced at Zhou Xiaoyan, whose face was now ghostly pale.  

“You didn’t just grab one of those crabs and feed it to your son, did you?”  

Zhou Xiaoyan bit her lip and remained silent, but her expression gave her away.  

Song Shiwei thought for a moment and said, “Based on your son’s symptoms, he may have mistakenly eaten the ‘Honest and Clean’ Crab. It looks very similar to a Brown Crab, and many people have been fooled by its appearance!”  

Upon hearing this, Zhou Xiaoyan immediately covered her face and started crying.  

Her sobs were filled with regret, pain, and sorrow!  

Commander Zhao and Political Commissar Liu looked at her and couldn’t help but sigh.  

“I’ve warned everyone before, don’t go into the sea so casually. Most of you come from inland regions, and some even from the remote northwest. You’ve never seen the sea in your life and have no idea how dangerous it can be! If something serious happens, how can our soldiers focus on defending the country with peace of mind?”

“We didn’t ask you to join the army to stir up trouble, but to give the soldiers a sense of home and allow them to reunite with their families! So that they can fight the enemy without worries!”  

When Zhou Xiaoyan heard the words of the commander and the political commissar, her face turned red and white.  

“I… I didn’t expect that…”  

Political Commissar Liu signaled to a female comrade next to him to help her up.  

“Look at what you’ve been doing all day. Your child is still in the hospital, yet you had the time to come here and cause trouble! Hurry up and apologize to Comrade Song, then go back and take care of your child!”  

Zhou Xiaoyan pursed her lips for a moment, then blushed and said to Song Shiwei, “I’m sorry.”  

After saying that, she turned and ran away.  

Wang Chunxiang couldn’t help but smirk. “She apologized and ran away faster than a rabbit!”  

Sun Meimei walked up to Song Shiwei and patted her shoulder.  

“Don’t be angry about this. It’s not worth it. Just treat her like a pile of crap, just let her go!”  

Song Shiwei smiled slightly and shook her head.  

“Don’t worry, Sister Meimei. I won’t be angry over something like this. It’s just that she keeps doing this over and over again, it’s really annoying!”  

At this moment, Commander Zhao and Political Commissar Liu finished speaking with Zhou Tingyue and then walked over.  

Zhao Zhengde smiled and said, “Comrade Song, you are a good girl. I will arrange for someone to speak to Comrade Zhou Xiaoyan. I believe incidents like this won’t happen again in the future!”  

“Also, regarding your heroic act of saving lives last time, the higher-ups have decided to commend you! There should be an official announcement in the next couple of days!”  

Song Shiwei was momentarily stunned. She turned to look at Zhou Tingyue, only to see him looking at her with a smile.  

She immediately understood, this commendation wasn’t just out of the blue. He must have said something!  

After everyone left, Song Shiwei returned to the room and asked him directly.  

“Why is the army commending me for saving Xiaojun?”  

Zhou Tingyue put down a basin of hot water and helped her take off her shoes.  

“Soak your feet. You must be exhausted after a long day. Don’t you have to go to the market with your sisters-in-law tomorrow?”  

Seeing that he was deliberately avoiding the question, Song Shiwei held his face with both hands, making him look straight into her eyes.  

“Did you do something?”  

Zhou Tingyue chuckled and grabbed her hands.  

“I didn’t do anything. It just so happened that the higher-ups were promoting the spirit of doing good deeds, so I took the opportunity to report your story! However, the commendation isn’t from the army it’s from the local government here on Qilian Island! The leaders are proud to have such an outstanding role model who bravely saves lives!”  

Song Shiwei nodded.  

“Then why did you report me?”  

Zhou Tingyue massaged her soft, white feet, gently pouring warm water over them with his large hands.  

“I just don’t want to see you being slandered or wronged for no reason. You’re such a good person…”  

Song Shiwei’s heart warmed. She touched his slightly reddened ears and smiled. “Only you think I’m good…”  

Zhou Tingyue smirked and gazed at her with a knowing look. “Having me is enough! Or… who else do you want?”  

He carefully wiped her feet dry with a towel and then suddenly pulled Song Shiwei under him.  

As she met his intense, passionate gaze, she could feel the heat of his presence, his masculine scent filling the air.  

Song Shiwei laughed and quickly pleaded for mercy. “I was wrong! There’s no one else, only you! You’re more than enough!”
