Chapter 7
“Oh, look, this is really weird. You were glaring at me at the dinner table, but now you start to care about me. He Zhiqing, you are really…” Sick, Chu Sangning didn’t say the two words in the end.
When it comes to being sarcastic, everyone is like that.
He Yueyang didn’t eat enough at night, and she kept talking to Zhao Jiayun for a long time. Unexpectedly, Zhao Jiayun fell asleep and was snoring. She was so hungry that she wanted to go to the kitchen to find something to eat.
I came over because I smelled something coming from Chu Sangning’s side.
“Why are you glaring at you? I’m not. By the way, I’m hungry now. Can you give me something to eat?” He Yueyang said confidently.
Chu Sangning thought she was out of her mind. Who was she asking for food? If she remembered correctly, the two of them had a bad argument that night.
“I can smell it. There’s still something bad in your mouth.” Chu Sangning had just chewed on a chicken foot flavored with pickled peppers. How could there be no smell? This time He Yueyang caught him.
She insisted that Chu Sangning give her one as well.
Chu Sangning leaned against the door, staring at her as if she were a clown: “Why should I give it to you? Aren’t you good friends with Zhao Zhiqing? Ask her for it.”
“Jiayun is not as vicious as you. Jiayun fell asleep. If you don’t give it to me, I will tell others that you cheated on me.”
“Hey, I don’t eat my own food, how about giving it to you?”
The noodles he made were ready, and Chu Sangning didn’t want to talk to the greedy man in front of him, “I will eat if I have something, I will eat it, if you have the ability, you can ask your dad to buy it for you.”
“By the way, He Yueyang, we are educated youth sent to the countryside, not greedy shrews. Look at how uneducated you are. You are really embarrassing us educated youth.”
After saying that, she slammed the door shut, leaving He Yueyang standing at the door smelling the fragrance. She got so angry that she started making a big fuss and kicked the door loudly.
She made so much noise that even Wu Guangqian came out to see what was going on. When he found He Yueyang standing at Chu Sangning’s door, he didn’t know what to say.
They were all educated youth, so it would be fine if they didn’t help each other, but they were also bullying each other. However, Wu Guangqian also knew that Chu Sangning could not be blamed for this matter, as he had done nothing.
“He Yueyang, what do you want to do?” Wu Guangqian didn’t want to go out late at night. He was tired after an afternoon and just wanted to have a good sleep.
“Why do you blame me for everything? You didn’t even care that Chu Sangning was cheating on me?”
After He Yueyang finished speaking, Wu Guangqian looked at her in surprise. Are you okay? Did He Yueyang get kicked in the head by a donkey?
Eating secretly? Is it not allowed for someone to eat in the house by himself?
“If you have something to eat, you can also hide in the house and eat.” Wu Guangqian replied straightforwardly, choking He Yueyang so much that he rolled his eyes and couldn’t recover for a long time.
Chu Sangning was eating instant noodles in the room while listening to them talking. It was so noisy. They didn’t go to bed at night and came to her door to talk. She put down the things in her hands, opened the door, and said with her head raised: “The food I eat is not yours, and I didn’t buy it with your money. How can you have such a say just because you live by the sea?”
“I didn’t want to bother with you before. Stop making such a fuss, He Zhiqing.” Chu Sangning’s tone was lazy, but his behavior was very domineering. He picked up the stick behind the door and threw it to the ground.
Wu Guangqian glanced at Chu Sangning with a gloomy expression, and forcefully persuaded He Yueyang to leave.
As for the dispute between the two of them, Chu Sangning didn’t know and didn’t want to listen. After eating, drinking, washing up, she went to sleep.
The next morning, as Chu Sangning entered the kitchen, Zhao Jiayun followed him eagerly and whispered, “Chu Zhiqing, you can eat mine.”
“Um?”
“Yueyang cooked less today and forgot to leave any for you.” Zhao Jiayun’s words seemed like a joke to Chu Sangning. Why was it that he had no food when everyone was eating together?
“That’s great! Everyone has food in the big pot except me.” Chu Sangning bluntly exposed Zhao Jiayun’s words.
“This… that’s not what I meant, and Yueyang didn’t mean it.”
Like pot, like lid. As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. Chu Sangning firmly believes that Zhao Jiayun, who can play with He Yueyang, is not a good person either.
Listening to Zhao Jiayun’s vague explanation, Chu Sangning didn’t want to say anything more, and said directly in front of everyone: “Then let’s eat separately.”
“Oh, how can this be possible?”
“That’s right. You’re a female educated youth, and you eat separately from us. If the team leader knew about this, he would think we were bullying you.”
Except for Wu Guangqian, the remaining two male educated youth also disagreed.
Chu Sangning did not need their consent. He found his own food and was about to leave. He discovered that the weight of his food was not right. The bag of fine grain was very light.
She opened it and her face darkened instantly. She looked at the people in the kitchen and asked coldly, “Who did it?”
There were only two kilograms of fine grains in total, and only a little was left in less than two days. Chu Sangning suspected that all together there was less than one kilogram.
Facing Chu Sangning’s questioning, Zhao Jiayun was too guilty to raise his head. Wu Guangqian frowned and asked Zhao Jiayun and He Yueyang, “Who took the food away?”
He Yueyang insisted that it was not her. She had just started cooking today and only used whole grains. If it was not her, then it must be Zhao Jiayun.
Instantly, everyone’s eyes turned to Zhao Jiayun, who had an unpleasant look on her face. Wu Guangqian asked, “Did you use Chu Zhiqing’s fine grain?”
Chu Sangning looked at the Wo Wo on their table, picked it up and looked at it carefully, and curled his lips: “This is not a color that can be made from miscellaneous grains.”
Now that things have come to this, if Zhao Jiayun said that he was useless, no one would believe him. Besides, the physical evidence was there, so Zhao Jiayun could only grit his teeth and swallow it.
“Well, I thought that since we were all eating together, it would be delicious if we used some fine grains. But who knew that I was not good at cooking and used too much.” Until now, Zhao Jiayun is still quibbling.
“Used too much? You used enough. I’m afraid you hid some of it.” He made a total of ten nests and used more than a pound of his own fine grains. Chu Sang would rather not believe Zhao Jiayun’s excuse.
The next second, Zhao Jiayun burst into tears. Her eyes were red, and she couldn’t stop crying. She said in a low voice with grievance, “It’s my fault that I used Chu Zhiqing’s food, but how can Chu Zhiqing slander me? I didn’t do anything I didn’t do.”
“That’s amazing! It’s my fault now. How about you take my half pound of food as well?” Who could miss the sarcasm in Chu Sangning’s words?
Zhao Jiayun looked aggrieved and secretly resentful. If she had known this would happen, she would have let He Yueyang do it. Now that she was exposed, she was in trouble.
Seeing the two of them confronting each other, Wu Guangqian didn’t know what to do. It was Zhao Jiayun’s fault after all, as she had eaten Chu Sangning’s fine food.
He replied angrily: “Zhao Zhiqing, you are confused. You don’t use Chu Zhiqing’s coarse grains, but use fine grains instead.”
“It’s my fault. I’m sorry to everyone.”
