Chapter 2: She’s a Destroyer of Gods, Systems, and People
Four years ago, she transmigrated from Earth into the body of Ye Qinglan, the cannon fodder fake daughter in the novel “True Eldest Daughter’s Counterattack in the 1980s.” Along with her, came her X-ray vision and the novel’s author AI system.
She learned from the AI about the general plot: In the year the original character turned fourteen, the Lin family and the Ye family discovered their children had been switched at birth. After discussing it, they decided to exchange the children back. However, the original character refused to return to her own family because the Lin family were officials, while the Ye family were workers, with a huge gap in their social status.
To stay at the Lin family, she went on a hunger strike.
After successfully staying, she constantly provoked the true eldest daughter, Lin Fei, and even competed with her for the male lead. In the end, she was driven out of the Lin family and forced to return to her own.
Once back home, she was arranged by her grandmother to go to the countryside and eventually married a man with four children, becoming a stepmother.
During those years as a stepmother, she worked tirelessly to care for the whole family, like an old ox, and developed illnesses at a young age. She died in her thirties.
The day she transmigrated, the two families had just discovered the switched children and wanted to exchange them back, while the original character was on a hunger strike in protest.
The dog AI wrote the book without logic.
It also lacked conscience as a system.
After she received the plot, it forced her to follow it, claiming that the world would collapse if she didn’t!
“Hmph!”
Recalling that time, she let out a cold snort. She had never been threatened by anyone in her life, and she wouldn’t be threatened by a broken system.
She immediately looked for loopholes: Since the system feared the world collapsing, it meant it cared about the world. If it cared, why would it let the world collapse just because she didn’t follow the plot?
Using its own weapon against it.
Moreover, even the most powerful system was created by humans. She didn’t understand computer algorithms, but there were plenty of people in this country, even the whole world, who did. Could they not defeat a system?
If you dare to threaten me, I dare to hand myself over to be studied.
Let’s see who’s tougher!
That day, she packed her bags and left the Lin family. She stayed at her biological parents’ house for one night and went to the Eastern General Military District the next day.
By handing herself over, she won.
The moment she stepped into the military district, her mind was filled with a blue screen of white letters, then turning from blue to black, black to nothing. The world didn’t collapse, but the dog system did, and never recovered.
However, she was in a hurry to defeat the system back then, and left quickly. Afterwards, she was sent to a secret base and never had the chance to return.
Bringing her thoughts back, she walked into the family compound.
It was called a family compound, but it was actually a block of apartment buildings. This was where her biological parents lived. Her biological father died six years ago on the job, and the only ones left were her mother, Yang Wenying, and her nine-year-old sister, Ye Jiao. Her mother worked at the cotton textile factory, and her sister was still in school.
Their family lived on the fourth floor, unit 402.
However, 402 wasn’t peaceful today—
“Wenying, you’re the elder sister-in-law. Our ancestors said that an elder sister-in-law is like a mother. You’re like another mother to Shujuan. You should help her with her wedding, a major event. Just do me a favor and give your job to Shujuan. With a job, she can find a husband in the city. Shujuan will be grateful to you for life.”
“Mom, it’s not that I don’t care about my younger sister. It’s just that if I give my job to her, what will Jiaojiao and I eat and drink? You favor your younger sister, but you can’t ignore our lives, can you?”
Speaking of which, the image of her eldest daughter flashed through her mind. She didn’t know what she was doing, and wondered how she was doing now.
“How could that be? Jiaojiao is my granddaughter too. Look, you and Jiaojiao come back to the countryside with me. All our family is in the countryside. You’ll have no one to bully you, a widow and an orphan, when you go back.”
Old Lady Ye, Yang Wenying’s mother-in-law, had a pair of sharp eyes full of cunning. Her greedy gaze swept over the room, ignoring her daughter-in-law’s thoughts and continued to be unreasonable:
“Besides that, there’s also your house. Your nephew has found a good wife, but her family insists on a house in the city. Where can we get one? Just do me another favor and lend your house to your nephew for his wedding. We won’t take your house, just for the wedding. We’ll return it to you after the wedding.”
The “nephew” Old Lady Ye mentioned was actually Ye Song, the son of Ye Lao Da, the eldest son of the Ye family. Old Lady Ye had two sons and a daughter: Ye Lao Da, Ye Lao Er, and Ye Shujuan. Ye Lao Er was the deceased father of the original character.
“No way! How can that be?”
Yang Wenying immediately objected.
Their two rooms had ownership rights. They were compensated by the factory after her husband died. Even if she didn’t work at the textile factory in the future, the two rooms belonged to their family and they didn’t have to return them.
If they really lent it to Ye Song for his wedding, they wouldn’t return it.
Ye Lao Da: “Why not? We’re not taking your house, just borrowing it. Besides, even if you give the house to my son, what’s wrong with that? You don’t have a son. When you die, you’ll rely on my son and grandson to carry your coffin, right? Besides, the house isn’t just yours, it’s also Lao Er’s. Lao Er has no heir, so the house should go to my son.”
“You’re full of shit! My house belongs to my daughter. No one can take it from us!”
Seeing her dare to refuse, Old Lady Ye immediately sank her face:
“Lao Er’s wife, I’m talking to you nicely. But if you don’t give me, your mother-in-law, any face, don’t blame me for not being sentimental. Lao Er’s things, you want to leave them to the good-for-nothing, but you have to see if I agree. Lao Er has no heir, so it should go to my son.”
“Mom, don’t waste your breath with her. Let’s take them back and talk about it later.”
A flash of malice appeared in Old Lady Ye’s eyes:
“Then what are you and Shujuan still standing there for? Song, go to school and grab that dead girl.”
“Get out! All of you get out! You old hag, may you die a horrible death!”
“…”
“…”
The room was filled with noise.
At that moment, with a bang, the door was kicked open from the outside. Ye Song, who was about to open the door to grab Ye Jiao, was hit by the door and blood immediately poured from his nose.
Before he could wipe it, he was slapped in the face by the person who kicked the door open.
“Slap, slap, slap…”
Soon, Ye Song’s face was swollen like a pig’s head.
Ye Qinglan then wiped her blood-stained hand on Ye Song’s clothes, walked into the room, and closed the door behind her.
Her eyes scanned the room, and she walked up to Ye Lao Da: “You were the one who suggested taking my mom back, right?”
“You, you are—”
Things happened too quickly, and Ye Lao Da was still a bit confused. This girl was the daughter who was switched with Lao Er’s family?
“Forget it, don’t talk. You’re wasting my time.”
“Uh—”
Ye Qinglan grabbed his shirt and punched him in the face, punch after punch, her fists almost sparking.
The room was filled with moans and screams.
Old Lady Ye finally reacted: “Oh my God! You’re asking for death! A junior beating an elder! You’re a cursed, rotten thing! You’re still not letting go of your uncle! My grandson! I’m going to find the police and have them arrest you! You—”
Before she could finish her curse, Ye Lao Da was thrown in front of her with a bang.
Then, Ye Shujuan was grabbed by her. Ye Shujuan, who was usually arrogant and domineering at home, was trembling slightly at this moment, her small eyes filled with fear:
“What are you doing? What are you doing? Don’t do anything! It’s not my fault, it’s all my brother’s idea…”
“Shut up!” Ye Qinglan scolded, her gaze turning to Old Lady Ye: “You old hag, are you tired of living? Who gave you the guts to come to my house and make a scene? You want a job, you want a house, do you think your chrysanthemum face deserves it?”
Old Lady Ye was so angry that she almost fell over. She had never been scolded like this in her life.
“I’m your grandmother! You dare to scold me? You unfilial thing!”
“What’s wrong with scolding you? Our ancestors said to be filial to parents, but if you’re not kind, your children won’t be filial. I haven’t even touched you, you should be grateful for my good manners. If you want my filial piety, I dare to give it to you, but do you dare to accept it? The grass on the graves I’ve been filial to is two meters high.
I warn you, go back where you came from. No job, no house, and don’t think about taking anything from my house in the future. If you’ve taken anything before, I’ll make a list in the next two days and you’ll return it to me. And—”
Ye Qinglan paused: “Don’t act like a mother-in-law in front of my mom. My dad is dead, and you have nothing to do with her. From now on, none of you are allowed to come to my house. If anyone comes, I’ll break their bones one by one. Do you understand?”
Fearing they wouldn’t understand, she kicked Ye Shujuan in the back of the knees, making her fall to the ground with a thud.
Immediately, Ye Shujuan burst into tears.
“Five seconds, get out!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Ye Lao Da rolled and crawled out of the house.
Then, Ye Shujuan…
Less than five seconds, the group of people disappeared from the house. As they left, they happened to meet the neighbors who were getting off work and the children who were coming home from school.
Old Lady Ye and the others were quite cunning. They deliberately chose a time when everyone was at work to come to the house, just in case Yang Wenying refused to give them the job and the house, so they could directly use force.
With no outsiders in the house, Yang Wenying rushed over to hug Ye Qinglan: “My daughter! My eldest daughter! My poor eldest daughter! You’re finally back! Mom has been thinking about you all these years…”
