“Military Marriage Threw Its Back Out: Commander, Your Wife Ran Away Again!” Chapter 21

Chapter 21: Was All the Food You Ate Over the Years Just Shit? Is This How You Repay Me?

After returning to the hotel, Gu Siqing, Shen Qingyan, and Qi Yuan were all still unsettled.

Qi Yuan sat on the sofa, fuming. “Back when I met Gu Wanrou at school, I thought she was well-educated and courteous—a rare good girl.” The more she spoke, the angrier she got. Her chest heaved with emotion as she gritted her teeth. “The evidence is all out in the open now, and she still has the nerve to deny it. Does she really think the police are fools?”

Not only that, she had the audacity to play the victim and shift the blame!

Shen Qingyan rubbed his nose. If his mother found out the kind of mistreatment Gu Siqing and the two kids endured at the Gu household, she might just throw away all her elegance and rationality and storm over there to tear them apart.

“It’s fine, Mom,” Gu Siqing quickly tried to calm her down, pouring a glass of water and handing it over. “From now on, I’m going to take back what’s rightfully mine, piece by piece. I won’t let them steal from me again.”

Qi Yuan squeezed her hand and took a sip. “Just seeing how Gu Wanrou treats you makes it clear what kind of life you had over there. I bet they treated the kids terribly too, didn’t they?”

Gu Wanrou had long dropped any pretense of decency. Qi Yuan was no fool—she could see through it all.

“It’s all in the past now,” Gu Siqing said lightly. “They won’t get anything more from me. Everything they did to me—I’ll make them pay it all back.”

Qi Yuan gripped her hand even tighter. “My poor girl, you’ve suffered.”

She knew too well how harsh society could be toward a woman who had two children without being married. Gu Siqing had not only endured public scrutiny but also bore immense pressure.

Then she turned and glared fiercely at her son. “If you ever treat Siqing badly again, I’ll be the first to come after you!”

“I won’t,” Shen Qingyan quickly changed the subject and looked at Gu Siqing. “When are we going back to the capital?”

They were supposed to return after the wedding, but everything that happened delayed it. He wanted to hear her thoughts first.

Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock at the door.

Qi Yuan opened it. Shen Mengzhou entered, holding the two children by the hand. They immediately ran into Gu Siqing’s arms, hugged her, then ran over to hug Shen Qingyan. After that, they settled beside Qi Yuan.

Talking about returning to the capital, Shen Mengzhou spoke first. “I still have work waiting, so I’ll need to go back ahead of you.”

Qi Yuan nodded. “Alright, you go ahead. The case here isn’t closed yet, so I’ll stay to cooperate with the investigation.”

Gu Siqing glanced at Shen Qingyan and said, “Now that everything’s out in the open, I’d like to stay a bit longer and take back the house my parents left me. I want them to move out.”

After all the years they drained her, she had to do something.

“There’s still that too?” Qi Yuan was furious. “Then you absolutely need to take that house back! Stay here longer. Don’t let them leech off you again!”

Gu Siqing nodded. There was no way she would let them take advantage of her ever again.

“Then just go back on your own,” Qi Yuan told Shen Mengzhou decisively. He pursed his lips but agreed, giving them a few parting reminders before leaving.

Qi Yuan lingered a little longer, then made space for the couple. Before leaving, she said to Gu Siqing, “Go take care of it yourself. If you need anything from me, just say the word—don’t hesitate.”

“Okay, Mom.” Gu Siqing was genuinely happy. After Qi Yuan left with the kids, she and Shen Qingyan returned to the space.

Back in the space, she gave Shen Qingyan a check-up. After they ate and it was nearly afternoon, she hesitated, then decided to go to the police station.

She had originally planned to wait until tomorrow, but she couldn’t anymore. The people back home were surely scrambling to come up with countermeasures. She didn’t want to give them the time—she was going to reclaim the house now.

She wasn’t going to be polite.

At the police station, she directly reported Gu Dakai and his family for illegally occupying her late parents’ house.

The officers didn’t expect her to come so quickly, but having heard some gossip, they felt sympathy for her. They immediately took a team to the Gu household.

At the Gu house.

Ever since Gu Wanrou was taken away, the atmosphere had been tense. The family hadn’t come up with a solution, but mealtime couldn’t be skipped.

With no money left and nothing in the house, they managed to scrounge together some dry flatbread.

Gu Ruizhuo couldn’t swallow it. He looked pleadingly at the old lady. “Grandma, didn’t we already sell the bicycle? Can’t we buy something better to eat? This dry bread—I don’t want it!”

As soon as he spoke, Gu Dakai slammed the table. “Don’t you know what our situation is right now?”

“Eat shit, then!”

Gu Ruizhuo felt so wronged. He wanted to sit somewhere, but there was only one chair in the house, and the old man was using it. So he could only stand there in a daze.

Knock knock knock.

There was a knock at the door. Gu Dakai rushed to open it, thinking Gu Wanrou was back. He opened it excitedly, the greeting stuck in his throat as he saw police officers at the door. His eyes widened, and his heart thudded.

What’s going on?

“Officers,” Gu Dakai stammered, “is this about Wanrou’s case—?”

“We’re here to take you in for investigation,” one officer interrupted. “Gu Siqing reported that you’ve been occupying her late parents’ property!”

The officers were annoyed—this case shouldn’t even be happening, but since Gu Siqing had filed the report, they had to act.

“What? That little bitch actually dared to report us?” the old woman shrieked. “Has she lost her mind? We gave her food to eat and raised her, and now she repays us like this?”

“If she were here right now, I’d kill her with my bare hands!”

She was furious. The old man beside her wore a dark expression. They never expected Gu Siqing to first take away Gu Wanrou, and now come for their house.

She even wanted the house back?

The police, well aware of what kind of people this family was, looked at them coldly. “If you don’t cooperate, we’ll use force.”

“So I suggest you cooperate.”

Gu Dakai and Bai Cuiyan exchanged miserable looks. In the end, they followed the police without resistance.

At the police station, Gu Siqing was already waiting.

As soon as they entered and saw her standing there, the old woman lost it. She rushed over, screaming:

“We fed you for years! Was all that food just SHIT? You actually dared report our whole family?!”

Gu Siqing, completely expressionless, shot back coldly:

“The inheritance and house my parents left were more than enough to raise me and feed me well every day. But what did you do instead? You took everything from me—including all my scholarships—and then even stole my spot at university.

Tell me—was all the money you spent over the years just on shit? Is that why you treated me like this?”
