Chapter 40: If You Keep Staring at Me, I’ll Just Keep Kissing You
Gu Siqing’s gaze was fixed on him. Shen Qingyan wasn’t a fool, nor was he blind — of course he noticed. Before Gu Siqing could say anything, Shen Qingyan had already cornered her against the wall, wrapped an arm around her waist, and leaned down to kiss her softly. The kiss was deep and lingering.
When they finally parted, Gu Siqing glared at him. Shen Qingyan pulled her into his arms and said with a smirk,
“If you keep glaring at me, I’ll just keep kissing you…”
Gu Siqing stopped moving, letting herself be held like a little quail. Her eyes held a touch of grievance.
Shen Qingyan continued to tease her,
“Wifey, should we kiss again?”
Gu Siqing pushed him away and quickly ran off. No way!
Ever since they started sleeping in the same bed — though they hadn’t actually done anything or consummated their marriage — the man had been bullying her in other ways, especially with kisses that left her weak in the knees. She hated it… kind of.
With a training plan in hand, Shen Qingyan followed Gu Siqing’s schedule diligently. He recorded his progress every day.
Both of them were busy. The children were mostly looked after by Qi Yuan and Shen Mengzhou, who supported them without reservation.
Gu Siqing cooked meals while Shen Qingyan prepared for an important assessment in January that could get him reinstated in the military. Gu Siqing thought that if possible, she would also try to join the military — that way the kids could attend the army nursery, which would be much safer and take pressure off Qi Yuan and Shen Mengzhou.
With a shared goal, the couple was full of energy.
December.
Gu Siqing reviewed Shen Qingyan’s training data for the past month. In addition to what Shen Qingyan recorded himself, she had also asked the robot to track a set of data. After comparing both, she determined it was time to move into explosive training and immediately wrote up a new plan.
She personally accompanied him during training.
Explosive training was harder than before. Less than twenty minutes in, Shen Qingyan’s brows were already furrowed in discomfort. But he clenched his fists and pushed through for thirty minutes.
“Stop!” Gu Siqing called out after checking a precise monitor beside them. “Wait a bit longer, hold out for forty minutes.”
She gave him some spiritual spring water to drink. Shen Qingyan took it seriously. Even though he felt some discomfort, he held on until the forty-minute mark.
Afterward, Gu Siqing examined him.
“No major issues. It’s just that you’ve been in a wheelchair for too long. Your muscles are sore, and there’s some lingering pain where you were injured before — normal reactions.”
“You can split the month into three phases — light, moderate, and intense. By the end, you should be able to handle two to three hours. That should mean full recovery.”
Shen Qingyan listened carefully.
Gu Siqing looked up to see him sitting there like an attentive little schoolboy and couldn’t help but laugh.
“What are you laughing at?” he asked.
The longer they were together, the more natural their interactions became. Shen Qingyan pulled her into his arms and they sat together on the grass, still in an intimate embrace.
No matter how used to it she was, Gu Siqing still blushed every time he held her like that. The man just had a habit of misbehaving with her.
“Nothing,” Gu Siqing replied, remembering that she’d stopped by the market after school. “I’ll make you some spiced beef, and a rib soup for the kids.”
She tried to run off, but Shen Qingyan caught her hand and pulled her into his arms again, planting another deep kiss on her lips. He gently brushed her lips afterward.
“That’s my reward.”
Gu Siqing stomped her foot in embarrassment and fled to the kitchen.
Shen Qingyan, who was so refined and aloof in his previous life, had turned into someone so affectionate and clingy — it was sweet, but she could hardly handle it.

As he watched her retreating figure, Shen Qingyan silently made up his mind.
That evening, the whole family had dinner together. Since there was nothing pressing, Qi Yuan and Shen Mengzhou decided to stay the night.
Back in their private space, Shen Qingyan took a shower and came out ready to get intimate with his wife — only to find Gu Siqing at her desk, flipping through a book with one hand while writing nonstop with the other.
“What are you working on?” he asked, walking over.
“Medical experiments. Internship’s coming up soon, so there are more experiments — each one needs a report. I also need to prep for next year’s graduation thesis,” she said without looking up.
Classes weren’t a problem — she was keeping up well — but there was just so much to do. So she prepared materials whenever she had time.
“I’ll stay with you,” Shen Qingyan said, grabbing a book and sitting beside her.
It was already very late, and though Gu Siqing wanted to continue, she didn’t want Shen Qingyan to stay up too long. So she decided they should sleep.
Lying in bed, Shen Qingyan hugged her from behind, clearly aroused.
“Stop it,” Gu Siqing muttered sleepily.
His hand rested on her slim waist, his breath warm and heavy with desire. He was eager to devour her.
“Wife,” he whispered again.
“Mm…” Gu Siqing responded with a yawn.
Just as Shen Qingyan was about to make a move, he propped himself up — only to find that she had fallen asleep.
That’s when he realized how exhausted she really was. Between thesis writing and experiments, she had truly overworked herself.
With a sigh, he gave up and headed back to the bathroom to cool off.
Luckily, New Year’s Day was just around the corner, and with it came a three-day break. Gu Siqing planned to get some proper rest.
On the first night after dinner, the two of them went to bed early.
Just as they lay down, Shen Qingyan leaned over.
“Wife…” he whispered.
One hand propped himself up as the other drifted naturally to her waist. He was burning with desire.
Gu Siqing, sensing this, decided to tease him by turning over.
Shen Qingyan felt completely ignored — like a lonely husky — and clung tightly to her back, whispering in her ear.
Gu Siqing didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Still, seeing how clingy and adorable he was — so different from the man in her past life — made it feel like a whole new experience.
Just as Shen Qingyan was about to flip over and take charge, the bedroom door burst open.
The twins walked in, yawning. “Mommy, we want you to put us to sleep.”
In that moment, Shen Qingyan’s blood froze.
Ungrateful little brats!!!
Gu Siqing saw the pent-up frustration in his face and couldn’t help but cover her mouth and giggle.
