Chapter 15: I Want You
“Cheng Du, where’s that celebrity you were obsessed with the other day? Why didn’t you bring her over?”
Cheng Du opened the champagne, uninterested in the women around him. Right now, his attention was solely focused on Duan Qingyu and Ji Xueli. He said, “She’s busy with her schedule.”
“The one who called me by my name?” Ji Xueli spoke up. She seemed to have some impression of that person.
“That’s not her. It’s another one, under the Crown Prince’s company,” Cheng Du waved his hand, explaining.
Ji Xueli glanced at Duan Qingyu, realizing that START Entertainment was indeed a top-tier company in the entertainment industry. No wonder so many people wanted to climb into his bed…
“Miss Ji, are you preparing for a comeback? I heard you’re going to sign with Ji Yan Zhou’s company?” someone asked, gossiping.
Cheng Du’s attention was immediately caught. His alertness went up: “Lili, aren’t you with your own studio? Why would you sign with Ji Yan Zhou’s company? And even if not, Ji family could just open a company for you.”
“Opening a company is too troublesome. How about START Entertainment consider me?” Ji Xueli said slowly, redirecting the conversation towards Duan Qingyu.
The room fell silent for a few seconds. No one expected Ji Xueli to actively approach Duan Qingyu to sign with his company.
“Yeah, START Entertainment is a top-tier company, and Lili is a first-tier artist. Isn’t this a win-win?” Cheng Du clapped his hands, expressing agreement. This way, the three of them would be one step closer to repairing their relationship.
“You know, with my rules, do you know how to sign?” Duan Qingyu looked at her, speaking slowly.
“How?” Ji Xueli looked over, not believing he could come up with an outrageous request.
The man in front of her leaned closer, his cold aura brushing past her. He spoke in a low, smooth voice, seductive yet detached, sending a chill through her: “I want you.”
Ji Xueli’s pupils slightly widened. She believed him… This man could indeed make unreasonable demands.
“What are you whispering about?” Cheng Du asked, eager to join in.
“Nothing.” Duan Qingyu quickly returned to his usual demeanor, as if nothing had happened.
Ji Xueli shot him a glare in her mind. This lunatic…
“Is Ren Tang the same?” she asked again.
“How could she compare to Miss Ji? I’m setting a unique rule just for you.” Duan Qingyu smiled lazily, looking at her like a predator eyeing its struggling prey.
He was curious to see how far this person could go. This game had to be stopped by him, and of course, he would make the rules.
“What rule? START Entertainment’s rule? Isn’t it just to host a ball on the sea? But you don’t have to attend, Lili.” Cheng Du, having heard the key words, spoke up.
“You’re the one hosting the sea ball?” Ji Xueli asked.
“It’s not me, it’s them. They want to take a shortcut to success,” Duan Qingyu said innocently, shrugging his shoulders.
A sinister black lotus, Ji Xueli thought, shifting her gaze. Her perception of the male lead updated again.
But it seemed that this character setup was very popular in novels recently. Wasn’t this a trope from old-school literature? It had been popular so early on, so the author must really have a good mind.
After observing for a while, Cheng Du immediately said to Ji Xueli, “Lili, don’t be fooled by his appearance.”
Ji Xueli nodded. Men shouldn’t be judged by their surface, especially Duan Qingyu. He was still unfathomable.
“Aiya, enough talk, let’s play a game and drink!”
