Chapter 31: Fun, Right?
“Cut! Guan Ru, are you going to jump or not?” Another take, and the director’s face was a bit sour.
“Sorry, Director, I’m a bit afraid of water. Let’s do it again, I’m really sorry, Xueli.” Guan Ru looked at the director apologetically, then turned to look at Ji Xueli, but there was a trace of excitement in her eyes.
Ji Xueli was helped out of the water, wrapped in a blanket, her damp hair sticking to her face, looking a little disheveled, but more like a delicate, pitiful little flower.
Looking at Guan Ru, Ji Xueli sneered to herself. So you want to play like this? Fine, I’ll play along.
This scene was supposed to show the second female lead faking an injury to gain sympathy for the female lead. In the end, the female lead saves her, and they become friends, but the second female lead is just using the female lead for her sect’s interests.
From the start of the underwater scenes, Guan Ru kept playing up her fear of water, making Ji Xueli dive into the water multiple times.
“This woman is clearly doing it on purpose.” Han Chen saw everything and was about to go over and confront her angrily.
“Don’t be in a rush, the good part will come soon.” Ji Xueli stopped him, shaking her head with a gentle smile.
Her smile seemed innocent, but Han Chen inexplicably felt it was a bit sinister…
Once the scene resumed, Guan Ru realized she had been pushing Ji Xueli’s buttons long enough. This time, she jumped into the water without hesitation.
Just as her hand was about to touch Ji Xueli, she felt a force pulling at her foot, yanking her down, followed by a hand pressing on her head, forcing her underwater.
Since they weren’t diving to the bottom, there were no cameras underwater.
Guan Ru struggled desperately, water flooding into her mouth, almost suffocating. In that moment, she realized Ji Xueli really wanted to drown her.
Just as she was losing strength to struggle, the pressure holding her loosened, and her survival instinct kicked in, causing her to quickly surface and scream for help, “Help… Help me!”
Ji Xueli’s coughing sound followed, and her face looked as pale as if she had drowned.
“Hurry! Get them up!” The director yelled urgently.
The lifeguard on the shore had already jumped in and quickly pulled them out of the water.
Just as Cheng Du arrived, he saw the scene, noticing Ji Xueli’s pale face, and rushed over anxiously.
But then he noticed her looking provocatively at Guan Ru when passing by her.
He sighed in relief and couldn’t help but laugh. No surprise, it was Ji Xueli after all.
“Sister Guan Ru, I know you’re not good at swimming, but you kept holding onto me, making it impossible for me to move.” Ji Xueli coughed and spoke softly, looking fragile.
“You were the one holding onto me…” Guan Ru widened her eyes, shocked by Ji Xueli’s act of blaming her.
Han Chen patted Ji Xueli’s back and retorted, “Xueli has fallen into the water so many times before, she didn’t have the strength to hold onto you.”
As soon as he said that, the eyes of the surrounding crew members changed. They had seen her fall into the water several times.
Guan Ru immediately panicked and explained, “She was the one pulling me, and then she pressed my head down!”
“Just blame it on me.” Ji Xueli sighed, as if helpless, and tried to get up but was weakly supported by Han Chen.
“Xueli’s so weak, Miss Guan Ru, please stop pushing this onto her.” Han Chen said sternly.
“It’s not…”
The director interrupted in a deep voice: “The medical staff is here, please go back to the trailer and rest.”
Ji Xueli glanced at Guan Ru, then spoke quietly: “Fun, right?”
Everyone leaned toward her. Guan Ru clenched her fists, gritting her teeth, staring at Ji Xueli.
When they were close to the trailer, Ji Xueli asked Han Chen not to support her anymore. She walked toward the door and was surprised to find an uninvited guest standing at the entrance.
Cheng Du looked at her. “Not bad. I now believe you’ve really become a good actress.”
Seeing him, Ji Xueli instinctively looked around.
“Don’t look around, the Young Master went back to the headquarters for a meeting.” Cheng Du folded his arms and spoke to her.
“So, what are you here for? Interested in Guan Ru?” Ji Xueli rolled her eyes and pulled the blanket tighter around her as she walked toward the van.
“The one you pushed into the water? I have no interest in her.” Cheng Du quickly realized who she meant and shook his head.
Since she had dealt with her like that, it was clear that Guan Ru wasn’t a good person.
“Xueli, drink some cold medicine. The weather isn’t cold, but it’s better to be cautious.” Han Chen hurriedly handed Ji Xueli a cup of cold medicine.
Once she finished drinking, he looked at the person following behind, from one of the four major families, Cheng Du. He remembered that Xueli didn’t seem to be familiar with him…
“What’s the background of Guan Ru, besides being someone from Ji Yanzhou’s company?” Ji Xueli put down the cup and asked.
It seemed like the original owner had made many enemies in this world.
“She? A few years ago, she was in some big hit dramas, but after that, she’s been living off her past success. She’s actually your senior.” Cheng Du sat down in front of her.
“But, I didn’t expect that even after all these years, she still can’t stand you. Xueli, why don’t I help you punish her?” Cheng Du said, speaking up for Ji Xueli.
Although he knew that Ji Xueli would probably retaliate, and Guan Ru had already suffered enough.
“Xueli?!” Han Chen’s eyes widened. He kept glancing between them. What was going on here? Why was Cheng Du calling her that so familiarly…
“Fine, I’ll leave it to you. She almost drowned me just now.” Ji Xueli pretended to be aggrieved, wanting to see how far Cheng Du would go.
“Leave it to me, don’t worry. But it’s a good thing it was me. If it were the Young Master, she’d be dead by now.” Cheng Du winked at her.
The one who almost drowned was definitely Guan Ru, he stifled his laughter. Xueli was becoming more and more interesting, really bringing back the old feeling.
Dead? She was actually curious about how that would go.
Hearing the mention of the Young Master, Han Chen shuddered. He knew who the Young Master was. In the Jing District, there was only one Crown Prince, and no one dared to provoke him.
“Nothing going on tonight, right?” Ji Xueli looked up at Han Chen.
“Hmm, are you going to class again?” Han Chen asked instinctively.
“No class, going to dinner.” She shook her head.
Cheng Du naturally responded, “With the Young Master? I’m going too.”
“What’s with you joining in on the fun?” Ji Xueli scoffed.
“No, we’re the three swordmasters of Jing. We’re inseparable.” Cheng Du snorted.
Ji Xueli’s lips twitched. “Where did this three swordmasters come from…”
Han Chen was equally curious. Wasn’t Xueli always acting or with Ji Yanzhou? When did Cheng Du come into the picture, and the Young Master too…
“You’ve forgotten the name you gave us when we were kids, huh? I knew it…” Cheng Du sighed dramatically.
Wasn’t it said that her relationship with Cheng Du was just average? Why was he calling it the three swordmasters…
But she had to admit, the naming style was somewhat similar between the original owner and her. The three swordmasters…
“Oh, now that you mention it, I do remember.” Ji Xueli replied without changing her expression.
Han Chen’s mind was a complete mess. Since Xueli returned, their relationships with the four major families had become more and more tangled.
