The next day, Duan Qingyu really didn’t forget to say goodbye before leaving.
But Ji Xueli was way too sleepy. She vaguely heard his voice and just hummed in response.
Then came the sound of the door closing. But not long after, she felt a faint, pleasant fragrance approach, followed by a warm touch landing on her forehead.
She wrinkled her nose and absentmindedly turned over to continue sleeping.
When she finally woke up fully, it was already 1 in the afternoon.
“Where are you?” Ji Xueli called Han Chen while reheating the breakfast Duan Qingyu had prepared earlier.
“I’m almost there. But hey, Li Li, this is the address for the yacht party—why are you there?” Han Chen looked at the luxurious yacht docked nearby, clearly surprised.
“Chengdu and the others asked me to go hang out,” Ji Xueli replied, taking a sip of milk.
“Oh, alright. As long as you’re not playing anyone, it’s all good,” Han Chen sighed in relief.
“…Wanna die?” she shot back coldly.
“I’ll be there soon,” Han Chen quickly hung up.
Ji Xueli huffed. What do you mean as long as I’m not playing others? Would she even dare? A tiger in front of her and a snake behind—she wouldn’t dare even if she wanted to.
By the time she was almost done with breakfast, Han Chen arrived.
“Did my mom get suspicious?” Ji Xueli asked while taking the clothes and shoes from him.
“No, I said you had a last-minute job and would be back in the afternoon,” Han Chen shook his head. When it came to work, her mom never questioned anything.
Ji Xueli let out a breath of relief. “Good.”
“You finally got a day off—why didn’t you just stay home and sleep?” Han Chen asked, confused. Before the break, she had been crying about wanting to sleep in all day. And now, here she was.
“Too many people asked me out. Couldn’t help it,” Ji Xueli sighed and gave him a you wouldn’t understand kind of look.
Han Chen saw through her immediately. “What are you doing tonight?”
“Ji Yanzhou asked me out for dinner…”
Han Chen zeroed in on that and sat down across from her like a concerned elder, squinting suspiciously. “So you hung out with the Young Master last night, and now you’re going to dinner with Ji Yanzhou?”
Ji Xueli felt a little guilty and let out a dry laugh. “I’m not in a position to say no…”
“Little Li Li, seriously. Between the Young Master and Ji Yanzhou—who are you choosing?” Han Chen asked earnestly. “If it were up to me, I’d say pick the Young Master. You’ve already been with Ji Yanzhou once. And the Young Master? He’s the most sought-after bachelor among the socialites in Beijing—tall, handsome, and rich. Sure, your own qualifications are great too, but I’d still recommend the Young Master.”
Most of what Han Chen said was fluff, but Ji Xueli still listened closely, trying to pick up on any new info. “Ji Yanzhou… from your perspective, do you think we’ll get back together?”
“Didn’t you guys used to be crazy in love? Then he broke up with you to go abroad or something. He didn’t seem to get over you right away, but before long, there was a new assistant by his side. So honestly… I think a reunion is tough.”
Han Chen gave his honest take. From his view, Xie Yujun seemed more skilled than Ji Xueli. Ji Xueli used to have some game, but now she was clearly focused on the Young Master…
“But why? He even asked me to dinner!” Ji Xueli said, baffled.
“Dinner doesn’t mean anything. He’s had who knows how many meals with Xie Yujun,” Han Chen replied.
Then, he paused, something clicking in his head. “Wait a second… Aren’t you the one chasing the Young Master right now?”
