I’m Just a Passerby in a Time-Travel Rebirth Novel
I’m Just a Passerby in a Time-Travel Rebirth Novel | Chapter 36

Xu Xiaoyun deliberately went to the city early in the morning to send the letter. Luckily, in her previous life, she had sent something to Gu Chengze before, so she knew his military address well.

After coming out of the post office, Xu Xiaoyun looked up at the blue sky and snow-white clouds. Everything looked so beautiful, but it was a pity that she and Gu Chengze did not have a good start in this life.

She couldn’t help but think that Gu Chengze had forced her to do all this. If he had married her like he did in her previous life, would she have to go to all the trouble of sending him a letter today?

And all of this is because of Tang Momo, that short-lived ghost. If it weren’t for her, she and Gu Chengze might have already been married.”

Thinking of this, Xu Xiaoyun walked towards the food factory unconsciously. She didn’t even know why she came here.

It was probably resentment. Clearly, Tang Momo was someone who should have died early, yet she was living better than her now, and she even ruined her marriage because of her existence.

Tang Momo has been busy with safety brochures at the factory lately. She plans to create a design for a brochure that raises awareness of various safety concerns. October is approaching, and with autumn coming, heavy snowfalls in winter often lead to many injuries in this area.

Hearing them mention this topic at the meeting the other day, Tang Momo casually suggested, “Why not publish a safety brochure to warn people about potential dangers in advance?”

When Lu Ruijun heard this, he thought it was a good idea, so he asked her to make it first and see how it would turn out. If it was good, he would take it to the printing factory and put it on the bulletin board.

Or they would present it at the workers’ meeting, explaining everything so that everyone could take precautions and reduce the risk of harm.

For Tang Momo, this was a significant task, so she devoted all her energy to completing it.

On their break, since everyone used thin metal lunchboxes to pack the food and dishes they brought for work, and if it were cold, there was no way to heat them, Zhang Xiaoli suggested they should just eat at home.

Tang Momo thought it didn’t matter whether she cooked for four people or five, so she decided not to eat at the canteen either. Saving her meal tickets meant she could exchange them for something she wanted later.

Still thinking about the safety brochure, Tang Momo didn’t notice Xu Xiaoyun until she got closer. The two were less than two meters apart, and Tang Momo couldn’t help but raise her eyebrow. Could it be that Xu Xiaoyun came looking for her?

Xu Xiaoyun saw Tang Momo walking straight ahead, as if she hadn’t seen her, she couldn’t help but bite the corner of her lips. What did Tang Momo mean by this? Did she think she was better than everyone now that she was a worker?

Seeing that Tang Momo acted as if she didn’t notice her, Xu Xiaoyun couldn’t help but remember the past. Even though they used to play together, people would always greet Tang Momo first because her father was a worker, as if she didn’t exist.

Originally, Xu Xiaoyun just wanted to come over and take a look, but now Tang Momo’s attitude triggered her. She couldn’t help but raise her voice and shout at the other end. “Tang Momo.”

It seemed she really came to find her. She took two steps forward and asked in an indifferent tone, “Is something wrong?”

She didn’t think Xu Xiaoyun had anything to talk about with her.

Tang Momo’s casual attitude upset Xu Xiaoyun, and her eyes were full of jealousy.

“Tang Momo, don’t think that you act all proud just because you become a worker. That current iron rice bowl won’t stop you from becoming a laid-off worker in the future.”

Tang Momo found it amusing and gave Xu Xiaoyun a glance. “When did I act so proud? I didn’t even realize!”

“Tang Momo, stop pretending. Let me tell you, I’m going to live better than you.”

It was thanks to this fool rejecting Gu Chengze. Otherwise, she would have had to work harder to marry him.

“Whether you live well or not has nothing to do with me.”

Tang Momo felt that something was wrong with Xu Xiaoyun. Could it be because Gu Chengze hadn’t proposed to her yet?

Thinking of this, Tang Momo couldn’t help but frown. Could Xu Xiaoyun be turning dark because of it?

“Of course, I will definitely live a better life than you— a hundred times, no, a thousand times better.”

She will be an official’s wife in the future. Thinking of this, Xu Xiaoyun snorted and decided not to care about Tang Momo anymore. She wouldn’t be proud for long anyway.

When Gu Chengze becomes a high-ranking official in the future, Tang Momo will surely regret it. Thinking of this made Xu Xiaoyun’s expression grow brighter.

Seeing Xu Xiaoyun’s changing expression, Tang Momo couldn’t help but frown a little, hoping it wasn’t what she thought.

Upon hearing that there was a letter for him, Gu Chengze couldn’t help but smile. He thought that this time Tang Momo wouldn’t reply to him anymore.

Thinking of Tang Momo’s reply, he couldn’t help but quicken his pace, but when he got the envelope, he realized he was mistaken; this wasn’t a letter from Tang Momo.

He held the envelope. He didn’t recognize the handwriting on it, and there was no name written on the envelope. Could it be written by someone his grandmother entrusted to him?

It wasn’t until he opened the letter that Gu Chengze discovered the sender was Xu Xiaoyun.

He quickly glanced over Xu Xiaoyun’s letter, and by the end, his brows furrowed deeper.

He didn’t know whether to call her clever or foolish. Regardless of whether the content of her letter is true or false, isn’t she afraid that the content of the letter will be leaked and she will be arrested?

Thinking of this, he quickly found a match and set the letter on fire. Only then did he feel relieved when the letter burned to ashes.

Gu Chengze didn’t care about Xu Xiaoyun’s safety, but he was afraid that she would implicate innocent people in the Qingshui Brigade, and of course, he was even more afraid that Tang Momo would be implicated as well.

He calmed his emotions and quickly pushed the matter to the back of his mind. Life or death was a matter of fate. How could he agree to marry Xu Xiaoyun just because of a few words from her?

What’s more, he still had no idea what her true intentions were.

“What, did that girl wrote back to you?”

Yang Dajun had just heard about him receiving a letter.

Gu Chengze shook his head. “No, it’s my aunt and the others who are meddling in my affairs again. They made me so angry, so I just burned it directly.”

Everyone who was familiar with Gu Chengze’s family knew a little bit about it. When he heard what he said, Yang Dajun couldn’t ask any more questions, and could only awkwardly change the subject. “So that girl hasn’t wrote back to you yet?”

Thinking of the letter he sent but still hadn’t received any reply, Gu Chengze couldn’t help but shake his head again. “No.”

“Don’t be discouraged. Isn’t it said in other books that a strong woman fears being bothered by a man? As long as she doesn’t have a partner or dislike you, you still have a chance.”

Yang Dajun patted his shoulder and encouraged him.

“Really?”

Gu Chengze looked at him suspiciously. It hadn’t been long since he had a partner. Does he really understand these things?

“That’s for sure. Otherwise, how do you think my partner showed up?”

Yang Dajun looked proud when he talked about this. His partner was the most charming girl in their brigade. If he hadn’t gone to her house to look for her every day during the month he was on vacation and helped her with the housework, she wouldn’t be his partner now.

“Fine, I’ll believe you one more time.”

Gu Chengze planned to write another letter to Tang Momo, reminding her to be cautious of Xu Xiaoyun.

Xu Xiaoyun seemed to harbor a natural malice toward her. He had heard before that they were friends, and he once thought he was mistaken. Now he knew it wasn’t his imagination; Xu Xiaoyun truly had ill intentions toward Tang Momo.

He was afraid that she would blame Tang Momo for not going to her house to propose marriage.

After Xu Xiaoyun left, Tang Momo felt that something was wrong the more she thought about it.

Xu Xiaoyun probably didn’t just show off today. She is so confident that she will live a better life than herself in the future. Could it be that she is already sure that she can marry Gu Chengze?

After all, her biggest goal in this life is to marry Gu Chengze. In addition to making up for the regrets of her previous life, the most important thing is Gu Chengze’s future achievements.

She was so confident today. Could it be that she was sure that Gu Chengze would marry her? Thinking of the letter Gu Chengze wrote to her, Tang Momo couldn’t help but frown. She still believed in his character. It was impossible for him to express his love for her by writing to her on one end and talk about marriage with Xu Xiaoyun in another.

So, there was only one possibility left: was she using her prophetic abilities to threaten Gu Chengze or Zhao Xiuli?

Thinking of this, Tang Momo couldn’t help but rub her head. Things were developing more and more out of control, and she was starting to feel a headache.

Why is Xu Xiaoyun so determined to cling to Gu Chengze? Doesn’t she realize she can rely on her own abilities to stand on her own?

Tang Momo couldn’t help but shake her head. Xu Xiaoyun’s thoughts were easy to guess. In this life or the previous one, the most influential person she had encountered with was probably Gu Chengze, who was later promoted. So now that she had this opportunity, of course, she wouldn’t want to give it up.

The more she thought about it, the more her head hurt. She planned to return to Qingshui Brigade to see what had happened recently and whether there was anything wrong with Zhao Xiuli.

After all, it was because of her own meddling that things became like this. If anything happened to Zhao Xiuli, she would probably feel guilty for the rest of her life.

“Why do you want to go back suddenly?”

Zhang Xiaoli looked confused.

“I dreamed about Father last night, and I realized that I was careless. I haven’t told him the good news about my job at the food factory yet.”

This was the most appropriate excuse Tang Momo could think of.

“It has been a while since you went back.”

Upon hearing Tang Momo’s words, Zhang Xiaoli sighed. They had indeed been very busy making a living, and after Momo’s accident a while ago, and then the matters related to going to the city, they hadn’t visited Dajun in a long time.

“Let’s go back together. It just so happens that Jianan and the twins won’t be going to school tomorrow. Let’s also take care of the things we didn’t take away before.”

She would rather give those things to other neighbors than let the Tang family have them

“That’s good. This time we’ll handle everything at home.”

Tang Momo nodded and took this opportunity to take care of all the things at home. She probably wouldn’t go back again in the future.

She wasn’t sure if she should get involved this time, but she was certain that if she didn’t return and missed the news about Zhao Xiuli, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life.

So, the decision to return to Qingshui Brigade was made. The family got up early the next day, had a casual breakfast, and started on their way.

“When you’re tired from walking, tell eldest sister, okay?”

Tang Momo rubbed the twins heads.

It was a long journey, and she was worried they wouldn’t be able to handle it.

“We’re not tired, sister.”

The two little ones clenched their fists to show that they could do it.

“Great!”

Tang Momo gave them a thumbs up.

The family chatted and laughed along the way, and they didn’t feel tired at all. When they arrived at Qingshui Brigade, before they could even head back, they heard the news that Zhao Xiuli had fallen on the mountain, and the Gu family was preparing to take her to the city hospital.
