The guard outside the door smiled and handed the package to her and kindly reminded her, “It’s a bit heavy. See if you can move it. If you can’t, find someone to help move it back.”
“I should be able to bring it back.”
Tang Momo glanced at the package, then reached out and took it. It was quite heavy, but fortunately, it was still within her capacity.
Carrying the package towards the dormitory, Tang Momo couldn’t help but wonder what was inside. She was also curious about what had caused him to send her something all of a sudden.
The package was indeed heavy. When she arrived at the dormitory, Tang Momo’s hands were sore. She put the package aside and opened the envelope.
Tang Momo saw the greetings on the letter at first glance. He actually called her “Momo.” Tang Momo couldn’t help but bite her lip; last time he addressed her as “Comrade Tang,” and now it had changed to “Momo.” He seemed to pick things up quite well on his own.
Although it was just two simple words, Tang Momo felt her cheeks warming up.
His letter was the same as before: he first talked about his recent situation, then asked about hers, and finally mentioned that he had sent her some local specialties. Since he didn’t know what she liked, he had sent her a little bit of everything.
He asked her to tell him what she liked, and next time he would send her something she preferred.
“Momo, you’re back so soon. Have you asked about the clothes?”
Wang Qian and the others had just gone out for a walk, but they didn’t expect Tang Momo to come back before them.
“Yeah, I already talk to someone. I’ll take her the drawings tomorrow.”
After saying this, Tang Momo realized she still had to stay up late tonight to draw the designs.
“Are you drawing the design yourself?”
Hu Jie was a little curious.
“Yes, what Yanzi said just now inspired me.”
Now that autumn has arrived, she plans to use woolen fabric to make a suspender skirt and wear a white shirt underneath.
“Oh, Momo, is this your package? When did you pick it up?”
Wang Qian curiously stared at the package on the table; it hadn’t been there before.
Tang Momo nodded slightly and opened the package under their watchful eyes.
There were all kinds of dried fruits inside, as well as many things she couldn’t name. She wondered how much thought he had put into this.
Seeing this, Wang Qian’s expression turned ambiguous. “Momo, who sent you all these delicious foods?”
Tang Momo’s expression became a bit awkward. “A friend.”
After saying that, she felt her explanation was a bit weak and invited them to eat together.
Everyone took a piece thoughtfully since it was someone else’s kind gesture toward Momo.
Gu Chengze’s act of sending things completely disrupted Tang Momo’s plans.
Seeing Tang Momo’s confusion, Hu Jie couldn’t help but whisper, “”Momo, do you feel that his actions are causing you trouble?”
Tang Momo paused for a moment. Troubled? It didn’t seem so. In fact, when she saw the dried fruits, she felt a bit happy.
She had mentioned to him before that she liked dried fruits, and she didn’t expect him to remember.
She has to say, it feels great to be cared for and remembered by someone.
“If you feel uncomfortable, you can talk to him about it,” Hu Jie suggested. She didn’t quite understand Tang Momo’s struggle and wanted to offer some advice but ultimately held back, realizing it was something the person involved had to figure out for themselves.
“Yes, I understand.”
Tang Momo lowered her eyes, thinking that maybe she could give him a chance.
But would this make Gu Chengze feel that she lacked principles? After all, she had firmly rejected him last time, and now, just because of some fruits, she was considering him. Thinking of this, Tang Momo couldn’t help but cover her face. Forget it, she decided to let it flow naturally.
In her reply, Tang Momo seriously answered his questions and expressed gratitude for what he had sent, and casually asked him not to send it next time.
After finishing writing, Tang Momo patted her cheek and hesitated whether to reciprocate and send him something. But after thinking about it, she decided to forget it. She didn’t know what he liked, so it was better to ask him what he liked first.
After writing the reply, Tang Momo started the design of clothes that she wants. She thought that she would also make one for Tang Yangyang, which would be like matching outfits for sisters.
She planned to make it loose-fitting, so she could wear layers underneath when it got cold, and then add a big cotton padded jacket on top.
Speaking of the big cotton-padded jacket, Tang Momo turned the pen in her hand and wondered if it would be easy to find duck and goose feathers now so that they could be collected and made into winter clothes.
Tang Momo’s drawing pen couldn’t help but pause. This seemed to be a business opportunity. Sure enough, the eighties were a golden age. The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. It seemed that as long as she worked a little harder, she could become the richest woman.
Tang Momo’s drawings were drawn very smoothly. When she put these things away, she realized that other people in the dormitory had already fallen asleep, so she quickly relaxed her movements.
With the sounds of breathing all around, Tang Momo couldn’t sleep. Although she had finished her reply, thoughts of Gu Chengze kept her awake.
She didn’t know where Gu Chengze’s feelings came from, let alone how long his love would last. Of course, more importantly, her plan for the future was to get married at least after graduating from college. After so many years, was he really willing to wait?
If everything fell into place, what about the long-distance? Tang Momo suddenly felt discouraged when thinking about it.
She knew herself well, and if the two really dated, she would be greedy and want more, but Gu Chengze, who was far away in the army, simply couldn’t give it to her.
In the end, she realized she didn’t like him enough. If she really liked him, nothing would be impossible to overcome.
With that thought, Tang Momo sighed softly and decided to let things take their course.
The next morning, since she slept too late last night, Tang Momo was still a little confused when she woke up.
“Momo, hurry up; you’re going to be late!”
It was Hu Jie’s voice, reminding her not to stay in bed anymore.
Tang Momo rubbed her eyes and responded softly, “Okay, I’m coming.”
She ran her fingers through her hair, blaming Gu Chengze for disturbing her peace of mind and making her lose sleep.
When she arrived at the publicity department, Tang Momo yawned. A soft laugh came from beside her, making her feel a bit embarrassed. She turned around and sighed with relief when she saw it was Yang Jianlin.
“Brother Yang, why are you here? Is there something you need?”
When facing familiar people, Tang Momo’s tone became more casual.
There was still a smile on Yang Jianlin’s lips. He couldn’t help but nod when he heard her words. “Well, I came here to see you. Director Wu is looking for you.”
“Looking for me?”
Tang Momo look curious. Why is Director Wu looking for her?
“Don’t worry; it’s a good thing.”
Yang Jianlin reassured her.
“Then can you give me a hint, Brother Yang?”
Tang Momo said with a smile.
“I heard that the second factory is looking to collaborate on a friendly competition or something.”
Yang Jianlin didn’t hide anything and told Tang Momo everything he knew.
“A competition with the second factory?”
Tang Momo couldn’t help but frown when she heard this.
“Then why call me? Am I supposed to be in charge of the competition?”
Tang Momo genuinely didn’t understand why Director Wu would seek her out for this matter.
“You guessed it right. Such friendly matches happen almost every year. This year it’s our turn to host, and Director Wu naturally wants to add some novelty.”
Yang Jianlin knew that Director Wu had benefited from the mooncake reform this time, so she wanted to add some changes as well with this competition and achieve some good results.
Tang Momo ran her fingers through her hair, silently worrying that at this rate, she might go bald before the college entrance exams.
Soon, the two arrived at the factory director’s office, and Director Wu talked about the competition. Fortunately, she remembered what she needed to explain.
“There’s no rush; we can think about it more after the safety knowledge discussion at the end of the month.” Director Wu wasn’t an unreasonable person and was aware of how busy it is at the moment.
“Okay, I understand.”
Tang Momo nodded and decided to ask Wang Qian what their competition was like in previous years.
After leaving the factory director’s office, Yang Jianlin glanced at her and asked casually, “How’s your preparation for the discussion going?”
“It’s almost ready. I just hope that day comes quickly; so that I won’t worry about this thing anymore.” Tang Momo had thought the publicity department wouldn’t be too busy, but she didn’t expect it to be like this.
Sensing her confusion, Yang Jianlin said warmly, “The second half of the year is always busier than the first half. It will be fine after the New Year.”
“Well, I’ll get used to it slowly. Thank you, Brother Yang.”
After saying that, Tang Momo looked at Yang Jianlin beside her and couldn’t help but ask, “Brother Yang, what are you planning to wear for the discussion?”
After all, with so many people from other factories watching, they couldn’t lose face for the food factory.
“Do you have any good suggestions? Or do you need me to coordinate with you on what color to wear?”
Tang Momo thought this was probably why she liked being around Yang Jianlin. He was always so considerate and never made her feel embarrassed.
This time, Tang Momo said directly, “It would be great if Brother Yang could wear black clothes that day.”
At such events, formal attire usually meant a Zhongshan suit or a Western suit; she didn’t know what he would choose that day.
“Okay, I understand. We can also find some time to practice together.”
Although they usually practiced their lines, they had never had a formal practice.
“My schedule is freer than yours, so just let me know when is convenient for you.”
Tang Momo felt embarrassed that he would accommodate her again.
“Okay, I’ll come find you when I’m free.”
Yang Jianlin had to check Director Wu’s schedule for the next few days to know when he would be available.
Tang Momo took advantage of her off-duty time to send the drawings and asked Aunt Huang, who made the clothes, to take the measurements. Then she mentioned Tang Yangyang’s age and asked her to make it a little bigger. After all, children grow up quickly.
“Okay, don’t worry, I promise to get this outfit done for you in the next couple of days. But can I use this design for other people? If you’re willing, I won’t charge you for the labor for this dress. What do you think?”
Tang Momo didn’t expect the opportunity to make money would come so soon.
