Shen Yu sat on the bench by the roadside for a long time. He was so tired that he cried himself to sleep without realizing it. When he woke up, it was already dark. The dark street was illuminated by a few cold and dim street lamps.
The temperature dropped sharply at night, his hands and feet were cold and numb, and the dried tears were tightly stuck to his face.
There were no pedestrians on the road for a long time. He didn’t know how long he had slept on the bench. It was pitch black all around him, and there were the sounds of wild cats. Shen Yu was very afraid of the dark, and a subtle feeling of fear slowly crept into his heart.
Not daring to stay here any longer, he trotted aimlessly towards the light.
Not far away there is a 24-hour ATM withdrawal hall. It is brightly lit and the only place where Shen Yu feels safe. After entering the small compartment of the withdrawal hall, the back door clicked and locked automatically. He was startled and tried to open the door in a panic, but couldn’t open it.
He didn’t know why he couldn’t get out. He banged on the glass and shouted outside the door, hoping someone would pass by and rescue him, but no one was passing by at this late hour.
After shouting for a long time but no one answered, Shen Yu gave up and sat on the ground. He was very hungry, scared, and missed Gu Yingyi very much.
But my husband doesn’t want Shen Yu anymore…
He curled up and hugged himself in an extremely insecure posture and sat on the floor of the cash withdrawal cubicle, tears falling one by one, and soon his face was covered with tears.
Unable to even stretch his legs in the small cubicle, Shen Yu forgot how he fell asleep. The next day he was awakened by a series of impatient knocks on the door.
He didn’t react, his brain was still frozen, and he stood there stupidly.
A few minutes later, the door of the cubicle was opened from the outside, and a uniformed bank employee shouted at him with a stern face: “Can’t you hear that there are so many people queuing outside? What are you doing in there without coming out?”
Shen Yu was startled by his voice and confessed foolishly in a low voice: “Yu Yu, I’m sleeping…”
”Huh? Are you sick?” The security staff noticed that Shen Yu was abnormal. Moreover, Shen Yu was dirty, so they rolled their eyes and treated him as a homeless person with no place to live. They pulled him up from the ground and dragged him out with an extremely impatient tone, “Get out of here, get out of here.” Then they pushed Shen Yu out.
”I don’t know how many homeless people there are this month. They cause me nothing but trouble every day,” the security guard complained.
”Ah!” There were a few small stairs under his feet. Shen Yu was pushed and lost his balance. He lost control of his center of gravity and fell to the ground. His palm rubbed against the rough stone and scratched a large piece of skin.
The palms of Shen Yu’s hands began to hurt, and tears filled his eyes. The security guard didn’t even look at him and didn’t think there was anything wrong with pushing him to the ground.
He endured the pain, got up from the ground, and left the bank in embarrassment.
Having not eaten for a day and a night, Shen Yu felt dizzy and his lips were cracked from dryness due to hunger.
He was walking aimlessly, leaning against the building. He passed by a breakfast shop. The aroma of freshly-baked buns wafted into Shen Yu’s nose, and his stomach immediately started to growl.
His mouth began to water and he licked his dry lips, staring at the buns longingly.
He didn’t have much money left after taking the Shiba Inu to the hospital last time. He felt his pocket and found the last fifty yuan inside.
After thinking about it, he decided to buy a bun.
He is too hungry.
There were a lot of people queuing up to buy buns. Shen Yu was dirty, his hair was messy, and there were dried blood stains on his clothes. When he queued up like this, others immediately stayed away from him and didn’t even buy buns.
When the boss of the breakfast shop saw that Shen Yu had scared away all the other customers, he came over with an angry look on his face and drove him away: “Where did you come from, you stinky beggar? Get out of here! Don’t disturb my business.”
Shen Yu took out some money and said, “I, I want to buy some buns!”
”No sale, no sale! Get out of here!” The owner of the breakfast shop didn’t even look at Shen Yu and told him to leave.
Shen Yu did not leave, but secretly hid behind the sign of the breakfast shop. While the owner of the breakfast shop was busy, he quickly took the leftover buns from the tables of the customers who had left. He was afraid of being discovered by the owner of the breakfast shop so he ran very fast, while wolfing down the buns into his mouth, stuffing his cheeks with them.
Shen Yu considered this behavior to be stealing, but he really had no choice. He was too hungry and the boss would not sell to him.
No one liked Shen Yu. When he was hungry, he would go to the breakfast shop and steal the leftover buns on the table when everyone was away. When he was thirsty, he would drink the tap water for washing hands on the roadside. At night, he would sleep in the bank’s cash withdrawal cubicle. After the last experience, Shen Yu had learned his lesson. He knew how to open the door from the inside and how to leave without being discovered before the bank staff came to work.
But after just one week, Shen Yu looked like a real homeless person. His originally fair face became dirty, his clothes became dirty and torn, and they smelled because he hadn’t changed them for a week. His hair was tangled and messy, and anyone who saw him would stay a few meters away from him.
The only advantage of the old model of mobile phone is its durable battery. It still has about 20% battery left after not being charged for a week. Shen Yu has basically not opened his phone these days except for sending messages to Aunt Jiang’s daughter. He sent her messages because Aunt Jiang’s daughter hasn’t sent him photos or videos of Shiba Inu for about a month.
He missed Shiba Inu very much, and sent a message to Aunt Jiang’s daughter a few days ago, but there has been no reply today.
He called Aunt Jiang’s daughter.
It didn’t work the first time.
He called twice again without giving up, and the last time it finally went through. Shen Yu very politely asked how the Shiba Inu was doing recently, saying that he missed it very much and asked if he could take a video of it for him.
Aunt Jiang’s daughter answered evasively. Sometimes she said she was not at home, and sometimes she said it was not convenient to take pictures. Shen Yu missed his dog so much that he said he could wait until tomorrow to take pictures.
Aunt Jiang’s daughter was annoyed by him and finally told the truth: “I can’t take the photo. The dog is lost.”
Shen Yu was stunned, holding the phone to his ear, and asked anxiously: “Shiba Inu, how could it be lost?”
Aunt Jiang’s daughter: “How would I know? Don’t call me anymore. I don’t know where the dog is.”
Aunt Jiang’s daughter was not as friendly as she had been when they first met. She was just impatient when the Shiba Inu was lost, and she didn’t feel the slightest bit of guilt for losing the dog.
After Shen Yu kept asking, Aunt Jiang’s daughter impatiently told Shen Yu the approximate place where the dog was lost. Shen Yu wrote down the place name and went there immediately.
He didn’t know that the Shiba Inu had been lost for a month and the possibility of it still being there was very small, but Shen Yu went there stubbornly and foolishly.
He was very sad. He was sad that Aunt Jiang’s daughter had promised to take good care of the Shiba Inu but lost it.
The place where the dog was lost was not far from where Shen Yu was, near the breakfast shop that Shen Yu had been to.
Shen Yu searched from morning to noon, calling Shiba Inu’s name as he searched. Passersby gave him strange and curious looks.
He only wanted to find the dog. He was worried whether the Shiba Inu would be hungry and cold after being outside for a month, or whether other bad dogs would bully it.
From the afternoon to the evening, Shen Yu searched the area almost everywhere, but there was no sign of the Shiba Inu. His legs and feet were sore and numb from walking. He cried in despair and helplessness, looking at this strange place, at a loss.
Out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of a dog-finding notice on a roadside lamppost. Below the photo of the dog was a line of small promotional text that read: Specializing in pet-finding flyers, advertising store at No. xx, xx Street.
Shen Yu’s eyes lit up. Can Shiba Inu be found this way? !
Just after tearing off a corner of the flyer, he suddenly thought of something, pasted the flyer back, and then wrote down the address word by word on his mobile phone.
Others were also looking for lost dogs, and he couldn’t tear up other people’s flyers.
They were all nearby shops. Although it took Shen Yu some time, he finally found it. It was a small advertising company with red words such as “copy” and “print” pasted on the glass door.
Shen Yu pushed the door open and went in. There were two guests inside. The old copier was working quickly and the boss was copying documents for the guests.
The boss saw someone coming out of the corner of his eye, but he didn’t look up and continued what he was doing and said, “What do you want?”
Shen Yu handed the only fifty yuan in his dirty hands to the boss and said timidly, “My dog is lost. I need it. Notice to find my dog.”
The boss finally looked up at Shen Yu, but was stunned when he saw Shen Yu, who looked like a beggar.
The customer was making copies of the things and walked away from Shen Yu, for fear of getting dirty from him.
The boss looked at Shen Yu with disdain, then looked at the money in Shen Yu’s hand, paused for a moment and said, “Five dollars a piece.”
In fact, a black and white picture only costs two dollars. The boss thought Shen Yu was stupid and wanted to cheat him out of his money.
Shen Yu hesitated for a moment, then asked, “50 yuan, okay? How many?”
The boss immediately replied: “5.”
Shen Yu hesitated a little, but still gave the money to the boss firmly.
He showed the boss the photo of the Shiba Inu on his mobile phone, and then the boss took Shen Yu’s broken mobile phone and started operating.
The 5 sheets were printed very quickly and were ready in no time.
Only 5 sheets were printed for 50 yuan. Shen Yu was badly cheated by the boss.
But the simple-minded Shen Yu had no idea how sinister people are.
After printing, he thanked his boss happily: “Thank you!”
With this, many people will know Shiba Inu, and he will definitely find Shiba Inu soon.
He imitated the missing dog notice he saw today and posted missing dog notices for the Shiba Inu on the street lamps and corners where the Shiba Inu was lost.
The tape was a gift from his boss, a small roll, enough for him to post 5 flyers.
Shen Yu wanted to do more, but he didn’t have enough money.
After finishing the work, it was dark again. Shen Yu had been busy looking for Shiba Inu today and hadn’t eaten anything all day. His physical tiredness was greater than his hunger. At this moment, Shen Yu just wanted to go back to the cash withdrawal hall and take a nap.
He will continue to look for the Shiba Inu tomorrow and he will definitely find it.
At least it’s bright there, there’s heating, and it can shelter you from the wind and rain.
Contrary to expectations, today the bank actually locked the cash withdrawal compartment and put a note saying that the equipment was under maintenance and temporarily unavailable. Shen Yu tried to open it several times but failed.
He looked at the lock blankly.
He couldn’t get into the cash withdrawal hall and there was no place to stay outside, so he could only sit at the corner of the stairs outside, hugging himself helplessly.
