He Hansheng, with a cold face, held Xu Xingran’s hand and led her into the office.
Xia Qingqing followed closely behind.
However, just as she was about to enter, the office door closed tightly.
She was shut out.
Xia Qingqing’s delicate body swayed, her face pale to the point of transparency.
She instinctively turned to look at Hu Fei.
Hu Fei felt that He Hansheng was acting very strangely today.
In the past, he did not allow Xu Xingran to come to the company, but today he actually brought her here?
And he fired Qin An.
Qin An did indeed take on private jobs…
But she always felt that He Hansheng firing Qin An had something to do with Xu Xingran.
Inside the room, Xu Xingran saw He Hansheng close the door and hurried to open it.
“Xia Qingqing hasn’t come in yet!”
In the past, she didn’t like Xia Qingqing, and she didn’t want her to intrude on any opportunity for her to be alone with He Hansheng.
But now, she didn’t want to be alone with He Hansheng and preferred Xia Qingqing to be there with them.
However, He Hansheng caught her wrist and pulled her away from the door.
On the sofa, she was confined within He Hansheng’s embrace.
His handsome face was inches away, his unique scent enveloped her, and she could hear his steady heartbeat.
He Hansheng’s noble face showed no emotion, only his deep eyes fixed on her.
“Do you think I fired Qin An because of you?”
She shrugged.
“You found out that Qin An betrayed you, didn’t you? You know, my jinxed mouth , always accurate.”
At least Qin An’s unfortunate reaction just now proved that he must have done something to betray He Hansheng’s company.
“I did it for you.”
Xu Xingran frowned.
Her slender hands pushed He Hansheng away, and the expression on her delicate face was indescribable.
“He Hansheng, whatever decisions you make are your own business. Don’t drag me into it, OK?”
For her?
He was deliberately smearing her name!
Qin An was obviously a petty person, and He Hansheng was trying to harm her!
He Hansheng was pushed away by her, but he wasn’t angry. His gaze was just cold as it landed on her.
“I didn’t know he had been so disrespectful to you in the past. I only found out yesterday.”
So, he fired Qin An.
Xu Xingran clearly understood the meaning behind He Hansheng’s words.
She furrowed her brows tightly, her eyes filled with confusion and incomprehension.
But looking at his serious gaze, an inexplicable irritation rose in her heart.
“He Hansheng, are you crazy?”
He Hansheng: …
Xu Xingran’s face was filled with impatience.
“You never explained or cared before. Why are you doing this now? Are you trying to make me feel touched? That’s really unnecessary!”
Her expectations for He Hansheng had long since ceased to exist.
He did nothing before, and he shouldn’t do anything now.
It wouldn’t annoy her.
He could do it now, but why didn’t he do it before?
It was simply because he didn’t care!
He Hansheng could see the resistance on her face. A look of helplessness flashed across his noble face, and his large hand gently caressed her delicate cheek, his voice tempting.
“The incident at the engagement banquet was my fault, I admit I didn’t consider it well. It was my mistake, forgive me, okay?”
Xu Xingran pouted, but her heart felt unusually bitter.
This was the first time in the seven years she had liked He Hansheng that he had lowered himself to coax her.
He thought it was about the engagement banquet.
Yet he didn’t understand that the engagement banquet was just the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
Xu Xingran sighed, her gaze falling lightly on him.
“He Hansheng, I forgive you for what happened at the engagement banquet. But we’re over, can’t we just break up peacefully?”
He Hansheng extended his index finger and touched her lips.
His other hand grabbed her small hand and placed a light kiss. His eyes were filled with tenderness, as if he wanted to trap her in it and make her drown in it.
He Hansheng was not an emotionally expressive person, at least she had never seen him look so affectionate.
But now, he was full of tenderness.
His voice was gentle: “No breakup, I know I didn’t do well in the past. Give me a chance, I’ll make up for the engagement banquet with a grander one, and I won’t ignore you in the future. Okay?”
Xu Xingran’s eyes were sour, and her nose was unbearably stuffy.
You see.
He knew.
He knew he had neglected her, he knew she was wronged and sad.
He knew everything.
Why did he have to wait until she had tasted the bitterness and pain of love before repenting?
Her heart was already riddled with holes.
Facing He Hansheng, she just wanted to retreat.
“He Hansheng, we…”
“Ah? Miss Xia, what’s wrong with you?”
A cry of alarm came from the door, followed by the next second, the office door was knocked vigorously.
Hu Fei’s panicked voice came through.
“President, Miss Xia has fainted!”
Almost instantly, He Hansheng, who had been breathing on Xu Xingran’s face, rushed to the door.
He pulled the door open.
Xia Qingqing lay on the ground, her face pale.
Without a word, He Hansheng picked up Xia Qingqing and rushed to the elevator.
Xu Xingran stared blankly as He Hansheng carried Xia Qingqing away.
She hadn’t yet come to her senses.
Moreover, she clearly saw Xia Qingqing open her eyes in He Hansheng’s arms and flash her a provocative and triumphant smile.
That smile seemed to say to her: I won again.
Xu Xingran felt a pang of bitterness in her heart.
From the moment Hu Fei cried out that Xia Qingqing had fainted, He Hansheng’s eyes and heart no longer had her in them.
Just like countless times in the past seven years.
He Hansheng would choose Xia Qingqing without hesitation.
Just a minute ago, he had said he wouldn’t ignore her.
She took a deep breath.
It doesn’t matter.
Thankfully, thankfully.
Thankfully, she hadn’t succumbed to He Hansheng’s tenderness just now.
Since the engagement banquet, she had lost trust and expectation in He Hansheng.
She touched the spot over her heart, still feeling a bit of bitterness, but it was no longer as heart-wrenchingly painful as before.
This meant that she had completely let go of He Hansheng.
That’s great.
