Chapter 50
Yu Li was indeed very busy, focused on living her own life, with a calm and gentle mindset.
She woke up at 9:30 in the morning, and the breakfast box that Lu Guanshan had left for her was still warm, wrapped in a towel.
After eating, Yu Li got up to start her day.
First, she entered her “Pear Palace” to check on the ripeness of the pears. There weren’t many pear trees in her palace, but there were a fair number. Some had been transplanted to her second brother’s orchard, leaving some land vacant. Yu Li tried scattering some vegetable seeds into the ground.
To her surprise, just a few days later, the seeds had sprouted. The growth was much faster compared to the land in the family compound where she had planted them!
It seemed that the soil in her Pear Palace was truly different.
After checking the seedlings, she went into the back hall, where she had some herbs stored. Following the steps from an ancient book, she made some effective emergency medicine pills, selecting a few books to place on the nightstand for easy access to read every day.
Lu Guanshan wasn’t aware of what exactly she had packed, so Yu Li wasn’t worried about him suspecting anything.
Once she finished those tasks, she took out some fabric she had brought and, using a needle and thread, a ruler, made two pairs of pants for Lu Guanshan.
The top was more complicated, but the pants were easy to make.
She only made the pants, not the top, because Lu Guanshan already had enough tops, but the pants were really worn out!
He trained every day, rolling, crawling, and handling rough tasks, and nearly every pair of pants he owned was full of rips and tears.
Yu Li observed the pants and added extra reinforcement to the places that were most likely to tear.
With a wife, he no longer needed to wear such tattered clothes, no matter how handsome his face was.
As she worked, Yu Li couldn’t help but have a little fun. She stitched the character “Mountain” into one of the pockets and used red cotton thread to stitch a simple heart next to it.
She held up the red heart and couldn’t help but smile. It was hidden in such a dark place, and with Lu Guanshan being a big, rough guy, she wondered if he would notice it when the pants were completely worn out!
If he never noticed, she’d definitely tease him about it and call him a fool!
With that thought, Yu Li’s lips curved into a smile.
Doing things for the person she loved, the two of them forming a small family—one working outside and the other taking care of the home—was the simple happiness most people yearned for.
Next, Yu Li made some dough. Since she didn’t have any yeast powder, she used rice wine or sourdough starter to leaven the dough for making steamed buns and baozi.
Yu Li had some sourdough starter her mother had given her, which she mixed into the flour. When making steamed buns, it would rise easily, and the buns turned out very delicious.
She used the preserved mustard greens her mother, Chen Ailan, had brought her to make baozi. As she worked, she couldn’t help but think of her mother!
Chen Ailan was truly a wonderful mother.
Yu Li couldn’t help but quietly think to herself. Now that she was married, she was trying hard to learn how to cook just like her mother.
An hour later, the white, fluffy, and fragrant spicy mustard green baozi was ready!
Yu Li took some out and left a few in the pot for Lu Guanshan to have when he returned in the evening.
She ate two of the baozi and drank some water for lunch.
After eating and resting for a bit, she got up to read, studying some traditional Chinese medicine knowledge. She looked up and saw the window, remembering last night’s events. She suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.
Lu Guanshan… during the day, he pampered her terribly, doing things like washing clothes, bringing her food, and giving her baths, but at night, he was insatiable!
She had tried to refuse, but he didn’t push hard. Instead, he gently coaxed her, and when she couldn’t take it anymore, he would step back, saying, “Wife, you said it, so I’m continuing…”
Thinking about this, Yu Li’s face turned red!
She got up to check the window.
She wasn’t sure if the soundproofing in the room was any good. What if the neighbors heard? That would be so embarrassing!
She hurriedly found some scraps of cloth and stuffed them into the window gaps, trying to improve the soundproofing.
While busy with that, she suddenly heard a series of miserable cries coming from outside the window!
“Child!! My good child!! You can’t die!! Don’t scare me!! Fubao, wake up!! Open your eyes and look at your mother!”
Yu Li quickly put down what she was holding and hurried outside.
Soon, she saw a woman in her thirties holding a three- or four-year-old boy, crying loudly!
The woman staggered, holding the child who was convulsing, foaming at the mouth, and rolling her eyes back. She bumped right into Bai Lingling, who had just arrived.
Seeing Bai Lingling still wearing her white coat, the woman quickly knelt down with the child in her arms, saying, “Doctor! Are you a doctor? Please, please save my son!”
Bai Lingling immediately squatted down to check on the child.
The child was convulsing severely, his body rigid, foaming at the mouth in a terrifying way, his eyes rolled back, looking very alarming!
Based on her experience, Bai Lingling immediately pinched the child’s philtrum with her thumb nail.
But the child’s mother, Chen Erni, had already done the same using the old method!
Bai Lingling pinched several times with force, causing the child to bleed, but there was still no reaction.
She immediately started to panic. “Maybe we should take him to the military hospital! The child’s body is burning up, his fever is over 40 degrees!”
Yu Li quickly ran over. “Let me take a look!”
In a moment of urgency, Yu Li checked the child from top to bottom, feeling his forehead, taking his pulse, then pulling out the silver needles she carried. She used them to puncture several points on the child’s left hand, applying pressure until the blood flowed!
Bai Lingling was stunned by the sight. She couldn’t help but be amazed by this suddenly appearing woman, because she was unbelievably beautiful!
Bai Lingling herself was a beauty, but she knew her natural appearance was not perfect. She had studied beauty techniques and was very good at makeup, never leaving the house without it.
But when she saw Yu Li, she was shocked that someone could be so stunning even without any makeup!
Her flawless face, with delicate features as if they had been carved, and her long, dark hair that resembled swirling clouds, her lips like a hint of red, and her eyes sparkling like the spring waters of March—just a glance made people secretly admire her!
Even though she wasn’t wearing makeup and her hair was casually tied up, she was so graceful and captivating, surpassing even fairies!
Bai Lingling suddenly felt a sense of defeat but quickly regained her composure.
“Who are you? Are you a doctor or a nurse? You can’t just randomly stab needles! I already pressed his philtrum, but it didn’t help. He needs to be rushed to the hospital for an injection, or he could die!” Bai Lingling said with a hint of irritation.
Yu Li gently shook her wrist and used the needles to prick the child’s Zhongchong and Shaoshang points.
Dark blood slowly began to flow out.
Chen Erni was terrified, unsure of what to do. Her instinct told her to trust Bai Lingling because she was wearing a white coat and was a doctor from the military hospital!
“Okay, okay, let’s go to the hospital! Quickly, let’s go to the hospital for an injection!”
Just as they were about to take the child from Yu Li, suddenly, the convulsions stopped, the child’s eyes returned to normal, and he let out a soft cry.
“Mother… mother!”
Chen Erni froze, then cried out loud, tightly holding him. “My child! My child!”
Bai Lingling widened her eyes! They had encountered many cases of infant seizures, and honestly, it was a very dangerous condition! Most of the time, pinching the philtrum could save the child, but many others would suffocate and die from it!
When she suggested taking the child to the military hospital, she wasn’t sure if it would help because the child’s convulsions had been so severe.
Yu Li quickly reminded Chen Erni: “Fubao’s mother, you need to loosen your grip on him. Although he’s recovered, he still has a high fever. I need to give him another shot, otherwise, the fever could become dangerous for his body!”
This could easily trigger other illnesses.
Chen Erni now looked at Yu Li as if she were a lifesaver. She immediately agreed and handed the child to Yu Li.
Yu Li pricked a few more points on the child’s Jueyin and gave her instructions: “Hurry and take the child back to rest, feed him water in small amounts, and I’ll send some medicine to you later. But I don’t know which family you’re from? I’m Lu Guanshan’s wife, Yu Li.”
Bai Lingling had originally intended to leave since this woman had already saved the child and there was no need for her to interfere.
But when she heard Yu Li’s words, she instinctively took a few steps forward and couldn’t help but ask, “You’re Lu Guanshan’s wife?!”
Yu Li turned around, and their eyes met—Bai Lingling’s were filled with shock, jealousy, and pain.
