Chapter 223: Wasn’t That Lukewarm Water Just Now?
Gu Nan stared at the constantly changing trending topics list, so excited she started flailing her arms.
“Let’s go live tonight! Ride this wave of popularity!”
Yue Su said speechlessly, “Why are you doing a livestream out of the blue?”
Gu Nan clicked her tongue. “What else? Have you checked your DMs? I bet they’ve exploded.”
Yue Su had no interest in checking—every message was asking about Yao Yao’s background.
She didn’t want to answer a single one.
Gu Nan elbowed her. “If you’re not planning to give President Fu a proper title, at least give Yao Yao one, don’t you think?”
Yue Su shot her a sideways glance. “I never said Yao Yao shouldn’t acknowledge him.”
Whether or not to recognize her biological father was entirely up to Yao Yao.
“Consider it a thank-you to me for all my hard work these past few days. If we don’t seize this traffic now, it’ll go to waste!”
Gu Nan now looked at Yue Su as if she were a walking gold mine.
Yue Su reminded her, “Didn’t you have a date with Chi Yue tonight?”
“I can stand him up. Making money is more important than men. If you don’t want to stream alone, I’ll call someone over to join you.”
Gu Nan was already thinking about who to invite.
The company had quite a few popular streamers, and she believed they’d be thrilled to hop on this hype.
“How about Mu Xun? He matches your vibe.”
Mu Xun was a young e-sports streamer she had recently signed, not even in his twenties yet—especially fresh-faced and adorable.
He always called her “jiejie” (older sister), which melted hearts.
Seeing that everything was already being arranged, Yue Su nodded.
“Alright, it’s your call.”
Gu Nan got moving immediately and began setting up the livestream area.
Since Mu Xun would be coming, her bedroom was no longer a suitable spot. She chose a corner in the living room instead.
“Post a teaser on Weibo first.”
Yue Su followed her suggestion and posted a livestream teaser on Weibo.
She also sent a message to Fu Xijin.
[I’m going live tonight. Don’t come over.]
Fu Xijin: [?]
Fu Xijin: [Isn’t Gu Nan meeting Chi Yue tonight?]
Yue Su: [Do you two share everything? Even wear the same pair of pants?]
Fu Xijin: […]
Moments later, Chi Yue tagged him in the group chat.
Chi Yue: [@Fu Xijin Can’t you control your wife?]
Chi Yue: [She’s supposed to be watching the livestream? Is she a toddler or something?]
Chi Yue: [I booked out a whole restaurant, even arranged a ferris wheel and a light show, and now it’s all ruined!]
Shang Congji: [Correction, Yue Su isn’t your wife yet.]
Shang Congji: [At most, she’s your golden goose.]
Fu Xijin: [Let me remind you, without me, Zeng Qiongyu would be nothing more than your client. 🙂]
Fu Xijin: [I don’t care that Gu Nan stood you up, but please send me tonight’s date itinerary. I’ll take my daughter. 🧍@Chi Yue]
Chi Yue: [Get lost!!!]
Fu Xijin: [@everyone Yue Su is going live tonight. Please support the stream.]
Fu Xijin: [You don’t have to show up, but you must send gifts to the top spot.]
Shi Si: [Isn’t this a bit much for a cash grab?]
Fu Xijin: [As her uncle, did you even give a red envelope?]
Shi Si: […]
Yue Su’s livestream needed no warm-up. As soon as the teaser dropped, people were already quietly waiting.
Fu Xijin had already prepared his gifts, but when the stream started—a guy?
Yue Su sat next to Mu Xun, smiling warmly as she introduced him.
“This is Mu Xun, an e-sports streamer we’ve signed at our company. Let’s all welcome him.”
[Aaaaah, Mu Xun! No wonder he asked for time off tonight—so this is where he went!]
[He’s so handsome tonight. Little bro, mwah mwah!]
[Am I the only one who thinks Yue Su and Mu Xun look great together? Younger guy romance is so spicy.]
[Can we stop with the CP nonsense? Isn’t the most important one tonight Yao Yao?]
[I’m still rooting for Yue Su and President Fu. They even have a kid together!]
Mu Xun smiled shyly and greeted the camera.
“Thank you so much to Sister Yue Su for this opportunity. I’m super excited and honored to stream with her.”
No matter how Fu Xijin looked at it, this Mu Xun kid was an eyesore.
He dropped 500,000 yuan worth of gifts in one go, and the effects flooded the screen for a good while.
[Wow, even the big spender is here!]
[User 1986—that kind of money flex, even with my eyes closed I know who it is.]
[Thank you, big boss, for letting us experience all these flashy gift effects!]
Yue Su frowned slightly and cleared her throat.
“Tonight’s stream is mainly to address some of the recent controversies online. Everyone, hold off on sending gifts for now.”
“First, about Yue Lan. I’m sure you’ve all seen the video. We’ve reported it to the police, and the matter is under investigation.”
Yue Su focused on the chat and carefully answered everyone’s questions.
Suddenly, a cup of tea was handed to her—Mu Xun smiling bashfully.
“Sister, have some tea.”
Yue Su paused and politely nodded.
“Thanks.”
She turned back to reading the comments.
“Tao Ming is still a minor. He was incited by others into doing wrong. Whether there’s a mastermind behind those pulling the strings remains unclear. Let’s wait for the police report.”
“How old is little bro?” Yue Su chuckled. “He’s not even eighteen yet. Those of you dreaming about dating him, hold your horses.”
“You think we look alike? That’s the first time I’ve heard that. We’re not blood-related, after all.”
Yue Su had always been open about her background. Even when she debuted, many fans already knew.
But what she didn’t know was that this casual remark stirred up deep emotions in Zuo Zixu, who was also watching the stream.
Once the Yue Lan topic passed, the chat was filled with one name: “Yao Yao.”
Finally, they had reached the question everyone was most curious about.
Yue Su pressed her lips together. “I don’t intend to air too much of my personal life publicly. But since everyone’s asking, I’ll answer once and only once—Yao Yao’s biological father is indeed Fu Xijin. That’s all I’ll say on this matter, and I won’t address it again.”
[OMG, I’m losing it! This is a full-on runaway pregnancy drama!]
[Does this mean she and President Fu will get back together?]
[Our little heiress is returning home—make way, everyone!]
[But if it comes to a custody battle, Yue Su can’t compare to the Fu family. Will mother and daughter be separated?]
[This is straight out of a drama!]
[That’s so unfair to Yue Su! She gave birth to and raised the child, and now you think you can just take her away?]
Yue Su looked at the chat, helpless.
“Please don’t get so imaginative. There’s no heiress returning to a wealthy family storyline, and there’s no dramatic custody battle. She’s my child. She’ll grow up with me, plain and simple.”
Just as she finished, an account named “Wealth and Blossoms” spammed fifty yachts and followed up with every single expensive gift available.
The explosion of effects filled the screen, nearly blocking out the comments.
Yue Su saw the name and immediately knew—it was definitely Fu Guohua.
Just as she was about to speak, the cup of tea next to her was suddenly knocked over.
Mu Xun gasped. “I’m so sorry, sister! I didn’t mean to! Are you okay? Did you get burned?”
He reached out to grab Yue Su’s hand, but she frowned and pulled away.
“You poured lukewarm water. Didn’t you know that?”
