Chapter 25: Falling Isn’t Always a Bad Thing
Fu Xijin changed into his protective suit and prepared to climb the tree.
Yue Su sat under the tree with the two children, all of them looking up at him in synchronized movement, their expressions surprisingly similar.
Their mouths were slightly open as they watched Fu Xijin climb effortlessly, his movements skilled and smooth.
He climbed higher and higher.
Yue Su tried hard to hide her emotions, but she couldn’t help but feel a cold sweat for him in her heart.
“Auntie Su Su, what should we do if Uncle falls?” Nao Nao asked, worry written all over her face.
The tree was too tall, its top hidden from view.
Yao Yao’s face was serious as she patted Nao Nao’s head.
“Actually, falling isn’t such a bad thing.”
Nao Nao: “?”
Yao Yao whispered in her ear: “Then we can have a feast! Your uncle is so rich, he could serve twenty dishes on the table.”
Nao Nao opened her mouth in surprise, trying to digest her words.
Although this was only the second day on the show, she was already feeling hungry.
At home, there were always four chefs and two dessert specialists on standby, so she never had to worry about food.
If they could have a feast now, how wonderful would that be?
“My uncle has money. A twenty-dish feast shouldn’t be a problem,” Nao Nao said after serious thought.
Yao Yao looked shocked, her mouth forming an O shape.
“I’m so jealous of you.”
Nao Nao patted her head. They were good sisters now, and of course, they’d share the good things.
“No need to envy me,” she said, looking up at Fu Xijin. She shouted, “Uncle, can I invite Yao Yao to join your feast?”
【Hahaha, Nao Nao’s desire for the feast has reached its peak in this moment.】
【Come on, kill me so my little duck can eat the feast!】
Fu Xijin moved quickly, and soon he reached the first large honeycomb.
He threw down the rope, and Yue Su immediately hung the bucket on it.
With the protective suit on, the large bees couldn’t hurt him, but it still made everyone nervous.
Xiao Ye was numb, wondering if the director would fire her after today.
“Uncle Fu is so handsome,” Yao Yao said, her face full of stars as she cupped her cheeks.
Xiao Ye sighed: “He’s handsome, but doesn’t care about the safety of others.”
He was handsome, but did he ever think about how the executives at the company or the insurance companies felt?
【You can feel the program crew’s despair through the screen.】
【Our Yao Yao is about to turn into a love-struck fool.】
【Isn’t it obvious that Fu Xijin and Yue Su make a perfect pair?】
【I do! I’m digging through the glass shards looking for candy.】
【Jiang Wanting, the real heroine, is here. What’s Yue Su to her?】
【Titi and Fu Xijin have a child together. Real couples are the best to ship.】
When Jiang Wanting was mentioned, the CP fans who were shipping Fu Xijin and Yue Su quieted down.
Some still believed that Fu Xijin wasn’t interested in Jiang Wanting, and that the child, Jiang Xin, didn’t look like his at all.
The live chat was filled with chaos, with people saying all kinds of things.
At that moment, Fu Xijin had already collected a full bucket of large honeycomb and slowly lowered it with the rope.
The black bear patted its belly, having had its fill.
It hadn’t forgotten to bring some for Yao Yao, casually tearing off a large piece of honeycomb and climbing down the tree slowly.
“Is this for me?”
Yao Yao’s eyes were full of excitement. The piece of honeycomb was as big as her two heads combined.
The black bear swatted away the bees on the surface and handed the honeycomb over again.
“Big Bear, thank you!” Yao Yao thanked it in her cute voice, holding the honeycomb in both hands. Her small body almost slipped off.
Fortunately, Nao Nao was there to help steady her.
After handing the honeycomb to Yao Yao, the black bear excitedly ran away.
Fu Xijin was just coming down the tree and took off his protective gear.
The suit was for protection against the large bees, but with one slip, his hand was stung.
His pale skin turned red and swollen, especially noticeable on the back of his hand.
Xiao Ye, concerned, said, “Mr. Fu, we should hurry back. The camp has a medic.”
Yue Su’s gaze was indifferent as she concealed her emotions.
“Let’s head back then. We’ve completed today’s task.”
Xiao Ye nodded repeatedly. “We’re done. You two take the kids back first, I’ll have someone come to collect the honey.”
She didn’t dare be careless with Fu Xijin’s special status.
Yao Yao quickly ran over, puffing her cheeks as she blew on the back of his hand.
“Uncle, does it hurt?”
Fu Xijin smiled faintly and flicked her forehead gently.
“Don’t worry, you’re still not getting any of my feast.”
Yao Yao pouted, looking at him with a puffed-up face.
“I… I’m worried about you!”
Fu Xijin responded, mimicking her tone: “I… I… I know, little stutterer.”
Yao Yao glared, hands on her hips, trying to give him her best scowl.
“Don’t copy me. I’m not a stutterer. You’re the old stutterer!”
Fu Xijin bent down, narrowing his eyes as he looked at her.
“I’m old?”
Yao Yao reached up but couldn’t quite reach him.
“Uncle, come down a little more, I can’t see.”
Fu Xijin scoffed. “Three years old and already have poor eyesight?”
Still, he complied and squatted in front of her.
Yao Yao immediately grabbed his face and squeezed it.
She carefully felt his skin. Unlike her mother’s smooth and soft skin, Fu Xijin’s face had stubble, which pricked her fingers.
“Just a little old, but really not that old. Maybe 40% old.”
Fu Xijin: “…Stop browsing the internet, your brain is too small and filled with useless stuff.”
“Yao Yao, we should go.” Yue Su had finished packing up the honeycomb and called Yao Yao over.
Yao Yao bounced over and hugged Yue Su’s neck, whispering in her ear: “Mom, his face isn’t as smooth as yours. I like you more.”
Yue Su’s heart softened completely, and she planted a kiss on Yao Yao’s chubby cheek.
Yao Yao didn’t say anything, but in her heart, she yearned for her father, yet still wanted to be close to Fu Xijin.
She took a small step forward, cautiously testing the waters. Any sign of discomfort from him would make her retreat into her shell.
Yao Yao’s longing and timidity made Yue Su’s heart ache, and her eyes grew moist.
“Mom loves you the most. I love you very much.”
Yao Yao smiled and rubbed her cheek against Yue Su’s.
“Should we go pick grapes?”
“Not yet, let’s wait until we’re at the big camp. We’ll call the others, and more people means more power.”
Yao Yao rested her chin on Yue Su’s shoulder.
“Then let’s go.”
Yue Su rubbed her little face. “Do you want Mommy to carry you?”
“No, I can walk by myself. I’m not tired!”
Yao Yao insisted on walking by herself, so Yue Su didn’t carry her but held her hand as they walked forward.
Nao Nao, however, was tired and shouted for Fu Xijin to carry her.
Fu Xijin squatted down and let her sit on his shoulders.
The moment they stood up, Nao Nao exclaimed excitedly, “Uncle, I’m higher than you now!”
Fu Xijin was nearly 1.9 meters tall, and Nao Nao felt as if she were floating in mid-air, her view much wider, filled with both surprise and excitement.
【Another day of being envious of Nao Nao.】
【Whoever is jealous of me, I’m crying tears of envy.】
【Nao Nao is the true little princess of a wealthy family, Fu Xijin really dotes on her.】
Yao Yao bit her lip. She was still not very good at hiding her emotions, and her envy nearly spilled over.
Yue Su bit her lip, feeling helpless. She couldn’t control Yao Yao’s feelings, even if she could control her own.
She was just a child, sensitive and timid, and still had to work hard to hide her emotions.
“Mommy, do you want me to carry you?”
Yao Yao looked up and shook her head.
“I’m not tired, I can walk by myself!”
Yue Su stopped and lowered her voice.
“Yao Yao, you’re light. Mommy can carry you.”
Yao Yao hesitated for a moment, curling and stretching her toes inside her shoes.
Her legs were short, and after walking for so long, she was indeed tired. But she just wanted to spare Yue Su, so she held back.
“Then just carry me for a bit. Just a little while.”
She held out her finger, showing an inch of space.
“Just a little while.”
Yue Su lowered her body, letting Yao Yao climb onto her back, holding her shoulders.
While they were talking, Fu Xijin had already taken Nao Nao farther ahead, creating some distance.
Nao Nao turned back and glanced, “Uncle, can you carry Yao Yao too?”
Fu Xijin paused for a moment and then continued walking.
“She has her own mother.”
Nao Nao pouted, “But Su Su Auntie can’t carry her.”
Fu Xijin’s expression remained indifferent. “That’s their own business.”
He was assigned to a separate team with Yue Su, and contact during the task was inevitable.
Once the task was over, he still kept his distance for safety.
He didn’t like Jiang Wanting, but he had to admit that she made some valid points.
