Chapter 30: She Deserves a Beating!
Yao Yao went for a quick trip to the supermarket, mostly to grab some snacks, cookies, and candy.
However, Yue Su was more interested in the crossbow that Fu Xijin had been using that day.
She didn’t know how to shoot, and she definitely wasn’t confident in her accuracy, but she just wanted to buy it.
A set cost 500 yuan, not cheap at all.
Besides that, she also bought an inflatable mattress and an air pump.
Although it was the middle of summer, sleeping directly on the floor wasn’t very comfortable.
She spent 2000 yuan just on these items, which made her a little upset.
Yao Yao, holding her snacks, ran off to share them with the younger kids. Nao Nao was talking to them about a black bear.
Jiang Xin curled her lips. “You guys are just bragging. My mom said that black bears are dangerous. If you see one, run! Run as far as you can.”
Nao Nao couldn’t be bothered to argue. “The wild grapes were found by Da Hei.”
“Another lie!” Jiang Xin didn’t believe it.
Nao Nao, frustrated, snapped back, “I’m not lying!”
“You are! Liar! Big liar!”
Nao Nao was furious, she’d tolerated Jiang Xin for long enough.
Just as Yao Yao was about to use candy to calm her down, Nao Nao jumped up and knocked Jiang Xin to the ground.
The two started wrestling, which left Yao Yao staring with her mouth open in shock.
How did this fight break out?
Yuan Jilin, not one to miss out on drama, cheered them on from the side.
“Fight! Time Yin, beat her! If you lose, I’ll laugh at you!”
Yao Yao knew fighting wasn’t right, but she didn’t dare step in. She was afraid of getting hit herself.
Instead, she joined Yuan Jilin in shouting from the sidelines.
“Big sister, stop fighting! Nao Nao, go! Stop it! Nao Nao, kick her! Stop! Don’t fight anymore!”
After a while, she noticed Jiang Xin had more skill in fighting than expected.
She wasn’t going for Nao Nao’s face, instead, focusing on her body, squeezing hard.
Before a winner could be determined, Jiang Xin started crying, bawling loudly, which finally caught the attention of the adults.
Yao Yao quietly muttered, “Uh-oh, your uncle’s here. He’s coming to hit you!”
Nao Nao quickly scrambled to her feet.
Yao Yao urged, “Cry, quick! Cry!”
Nao Nao snorted, lifting her chin proudly.
“I’m not crying. Only weaklings cry. I’ve never lost a fight!”
Yao Yao was speechless. This kid was tough.
In the blink of an eye, Fu Xijin was right in front of them.
Jiang Wanti rushed to Jiang Xin’s side, hugging her tightly and crying out.
“Xin Xin, are you okay? Does it hurt?”
Nao Nao watched her cry, stunned.
“I didn’t hit her, why is she crying?”
Yao Yao shook her head. “The crying kid gets the candy.”
She quickly shoved some gummies into Nao Nao’s mouth.
Nao Nao grinned. “I’ll get candy whether I cry or not.”
Yao Yao gave her a look, like she was seeing a fool next door.
“Eat up. You won’t be laughing soon.”
“Shi Yin.”
Fu Xijin’s voice was cold as he called out her name.
Nao Nao felt goosebumps rise on the back of her neck. The tone was so cold, it sent shivers down her spine.
He only called her full name when he was angry.
He walked up to Nao Nao, his handsome face displaying an icy chill.
“Why did you start the fight?”
Nao Nao pouted and immediately answered, “She deserves a beating!”
Yao Yao was speechless. She thought Fu Xijin was the one who deserved a beating.
It was the first time she had seen a kid with such a tough attitude.
Before Yao Yao could explain, Jiang Xin, who was still in Jiang Wanti’s arms, sniffled.
“Uncle Fu, don’t blame Nao Nao. It’s all my fault for saying the wrong thing and making her angry.”
Yao Yao tilted her head in surprise. Huh? Jiang Xin was actually speaking up for Nao Nao.
Looking at Nao Nao, however, she was still fuming, her fists clenched, and she pointed at Jiang Xin.
“It’s all because of what you said! I’ll beat you next time! I’ll beat you to death!”
Yao Yao was shocked, and quickly looked up at Fu Xijin, seeing his expression turning even colder.
“Shi Yin!”
Fu Xijin’s voice was stern, and Nao Nao was almost about to cry from the pressure, but she still refused to back down.
Just when she thought she was going to get scolded, Yao Yao grabbed her little hand.
“Uncle Fu, it’s really Jiang Xin’s fault. She called Nao Nao a liar and a big bragger, that’s why Nao Nao got mad. But we didn’t lie.”
She turned to Jiang Xin and spoke softly, “Jiang Xin, if you don’t believe us, you can ask Uncle Fu. He saw the black bear too.”
Jiang Xin opened her mouth in indignation, but before she could respond, Jiang Wanti cut her off.
“No matter what, you can’t hit people! Nao Nao is strong and heavy-handed. Look at what she’s done to Xin Xin.”
She lifted Jiang Xin’s chin, revealing a bruise the size of a coin.
The mother and daughter looked pitiful, their eyes swollen with tears.
Yao Yao pursed her lips and corrected her, “Nao Nao didn’t hit anyone. They were fighting, and she was also hit by Jiang Xin.”
Nao Nao, embarrassed, quickly pushed Yao Yao’s hand away.
“Don’t you know? These are my medals!”
Yao Yao puffed her cheeks. She only knew that if these “medals” weren’t shown off, she’d get a beating.
Fu Xijin leaned down, blocking the view, and gently lifted Nao Nao’s shirt.
Seeing the purple bruises, his gaze turned cold.
“You started the fight. Apologize.”
Nao Nao reluctantly mumbled, “Sorry. I apologize.”
Jiang Xin had expected this outcome. She and Nao Nao had clashed many times before. Nao Nao, being impulsive and reckless, always ended up losing the fight, and never learned her lesson.
“Nao Nao, I forgive you. Let’s still be friends.”
Nao Nao clicked her tongue in disdain. “I don’t want to be your friend.”
Jiang Wanti helped Jiang Xin up and patted her clothes.
“It’s fine. Sisters fight sometimes. Let’s go home.”
Just as she finished speaking, Fu Xijin’s icy voice interrupted.
“Wait.”
Jiang Wanti turned around. “A Jin, what’s wrong?”
Fu Xijin tilted his head slightly, his cold expression unwavering.
“Xin Xin, you still haven’t apologized.”
Jiang Xin opened her mouth, but was choked by her emotions, her eyes filled with disbelief.
“Uncle Fu, I…”
She could barely speak, tears welling up as she looked at him.
This was something that had never happened before.
Fu Xijin looked away, his jaw tightening, his features becoming even more chilling.
His lips parted slightly. “Apologize.”
Jiang Wanti’s lips trembled, understanding his firm character. She yanked Jiang Xin toward her and let out her frustrations.
“Apologize to Nao Nao! If you can’t control your mouth next time, I’ll be the one to beat you.”
Jiang Xin, feeling utterly wronged, broke into tears, her voice trembling as she apologized.
Her whispered apology, so soft it was barely audible, made her push away Jiang Wanti and flee in a hurry.
Jiang Wanti gritted her teeth, eyes filled with resentment as she glanced at Fu Xijin, then hurried after her.
