My Ex-Husband Denied Me for His True Love: Reborn, I Won’t Chase Him Again Chapter 6

Chapter 6

At that moment, Lu Zhanting’s father walked out from the military compound, his face dark with anger. “What are you two making a scene for? Your grandfather is home alone and has already fallen unconscious. We need to get to the hospital.”

Lin Qian knew that Lu Jianguo was the only one in the Lu family who still had a shred of humanity. She immediately said, “Uncle Lu, I don’t want to marry Lu Zhanting anymore. I came here today to try and withdraw our marriage registration.”

Lu Jianguo glanced at her with an indifferent expression. Then, without saying a word, he swung his fist straight at Lu Zhanting’s face. “What did you do this time?”

He knew all too well the dirty tricks his son was up to behind the scenes.

Blood spilled from the corner of Lu Zhanting’s mouth on the spot.

Lu Jianguo then turned to Lin Qian and said, “Qianqian, let’s talk about your engagement with Zhanting another day, okay? We’ll discuss it with your parents present.

“Haven’t you been the one taking care of Grandpa at home these days? Then why did I hear he was left unattended and fell out of bed unconscious?”

Lin Qian sneered. The Lu family really didn’t seem to have a single decent person among them.

She said bluntly, “Uncle Lu, don’t forget—I’m not even married to Lu Zhanting yet. So why should I be obligated to take care of your family’s elder? Isn’t filial duty something your wife should handle? Why are you entrusting it to an outsider like me?”

Lu Zhanting looked at Lin Qian with surprise. “Dad, you heard her. She’s not even officially married in yet and she’s already this disrespectful. What if she—”

Lu Jianguo, furious, punched his son in the face again. He knew exactly what kind of selfish plans his son had. There was no way their family would ever truly accept a recently widowed woman into the household.

Lin Qian shouted angrily, “Lu Zhanting, listen to me! I sincerely hope you and Bai Aiyun stay stuck together for life. Go withdraw our marriage registration immediately!”

Lu Zhanting was getting a headache. He just knew this woman was jealous and making a fuss. She had no sense of timing—now his father was beating him to a pulp.

Lu Jianguo grabbed Lu Zhanting and dragged him away.

Meanwhile, Lin Qian was thinking—since her package had been delivered to Factory Director Hu, Lu’s mother was probably up to something right about now.

She jumped on her bicycle and pedaled off quickly.

In her past life, the affair between Factory Director Hu and Lu’s mother had started with their rendezvous at the Ningcheng State Guesthouse.

Now that the old Lu was in the hospital from falling unconscious at home, it was the perfect time for her to go check out the scene at the guesthouse.

Lu Jianguo had borrowed a jeep from the military unit. As the father and son waited at an intersection, they saw Lin Qian fly past them on her bicycle.

Lu Zhanting was furious. “Dad, look! When you and Mom agreed to our engagement, wasn’t it because she was supposedly kind and filial? But now she just leaves Grandpa alone at home like it’s none of her business.”

Lu Jianguo’s face darkened. While he also thought Lin Qian had gone too far today, he knew his son’s little schemes too well.

“Shut up! Tell me the truth—did you go see that widowed Bai Aiyun again last night?”

Lu Zhanting looked helpless. “Dad, Xiaoqiang had a sudden asthma attack last night. Aiyun was all alone—I had to help!”

“Bullshit! Don’t give me that self-righteous crap. I’m warning you—cut it off with that widow!”

“Lin Qian has always behaved well. More importantly, her parents like you. I think she actually has feelings for you too. After we check on your grandfather, you’d better go and win her back.”

Lu Zhanting was extremely reluctant, but for the sake of family harmony, he had to comply.

He told himself, once he married Lin Qian, everything would fall into place.

Lin Qian, however, had no idea about the schemes these two were planning for her. She rushed into the city like a storm.

Her legs were sore, and her stomach was growling. The smell of freshly steamed pork buns from a nearby state-run diner hit her nose hard.

She parked her bicycle and bought a bun, devouring it hungrily before hopping back on and heading straight to the guesthouse.

There, she found a way to chat up the front desk clerk and confirmed that Lu’s mother and Director Hu had indeed arrived separately but checked into the same place.

She turned around and went outside to call the hospital and give them a little “tip.” In her previous life, having taken care of the Lu family’s elders, she knew all the local hospitals near their residence very well.

After hanging up, she found a hidden spot near the guesthouse and lay in wait for Lu Jianguo to catch them red-handed.

Inside, Lu’s mother—under the pretense of discussing work—was now sitting on Director Hu’s lap.

She had brought along project proposals that needed his signature and spread them out on the table.

Although she didn’t know who had sent that package to Hu and tried to frame her, she hadn’t expected the man to be so taken with her type.

She wasn’t planning on going all the way with him today, just to take advantage of his interest and get those signatures. Later, she’d go back and figure out who had set her up.

Hu Degui wasn’t even trying to pretend he was interested in work. He’d just been scolded harshly by his wife that morning and was desperate for a gentle, obedient woman to soothe him.

“Xiulian, I really prefer the one you wore last time…”

Wang Xiulian was Lu’s mother’s full name.

Just as she was about to flirt back to get him to sign the paperwork—

Bang! The door suddenly burst open with a loud crash.

Lu Jianguo stood there, and the first thing he saw was his wife sitting on Hu Degui’s lap, her hands wrapped around the man’s neck.

“AHHH!!”

Wang Xiulian screamed in panic. But before she could regain her composure, Lu Jianguo had already lunged at Hu Degui, throwing punches like a madman.

The receptionist downstairs had never witnessed something like this before. She was so scared she froze.

Lin Qian rushed over with a mischievous glint in her eye and suggested, “Call the police! What if someone dies in your guesthouse? Then what?”

The receptionist recognized Lin Qian and, trembling, reached for the phone while still gossiping. “So your mother-in-law is cheating? And the guy fighting upstairs is really your father-in-law?”

Lin Qian replied disdainfully, “Actually, they’re not really my in-laws. I was only engaged to their son. We haven’t gotten married.”

The receptionist clicked her tongue. “Girl, don’t marry him. With parents that morally bankrupt, their son’s definitely no good either.”

The local police station was right next to the guesthouse. After receiving the call, officers arrived in less than five minutes.

“Officers, they’re upstairs. You can hear the fighting, right? That’s them!”

“Sigh, they’ve completely ruined our guesthouse’s reputation…”

The receptionist quickly led the two officers upstairs.

Lin Qian, with a delighted smirk and a front-row seat to the drama, followed closely behind.
