Chapter 32
With Old Lin’s consent, the next step was administering the treatment.
Lin Feng pushed Old Lin back into the room.
Outside the door, a group of curious villagers gathered, some elderly women carrying sunflower seeds in their pockets, cracking them open while chatting.
“Do you think Lin Feng can cure Old Lin?”
“Who knows? Lin Feng’s grandfather was once known as a miracle doctor in his youth. If even he couldn’t cure Old Lin, how can Lin Feng do it?”
Someone expressed skepticism.
“It’s not necessarily true. The student might surpass the master. What if Lin Feng is even more skilled than his grandfather?” Another woman seemed to favor Lin Feng.
“How skilled can he be? Can a phoenix fly out of a chicken coop?”
“What do you mean by a chicken coop? Lin Feng’s father used to be the director of Jiangzhou Hospital. Are you looking down on them?”
“Haha, former director. That was years ago. Don’t you know Lin Feng’s father has been missing for three years? People say he’s in prison.”
“What! Lin Feng’s father is in prison?”
“Of course. Lin Feng’s family never reported it, so his father must be serving time in prison, and that’s why they keep it quiet.”
The thoughts of these women were quite bold.
On the side, Murong Mengxi and Zhao Jing exchanged a glance, both remaining silent.
They were the leaders and deputy leaders of the Jiangzhou Special Operations Bureau. They knew some inside information about Lin Feng’s father’s disappearance, but they wouldn’t disclose it.
Inside the room,
Lin Feng had already placed Old Lin on the bed.
At this moment, the room contained only Lin Feng and Old Lin, as even Lin Feng’s grandfather, Lin Guochang, had left.
“Grandpa Lin, I’m ready to administer the acupuncture,” Lin Feng said as he took out a box of silver needles and placed it on the table.
“Little Feng, don’t be in a hurry to give the acupuncture. Grandpa Lin has something for you,” Old Lin said, taking a trembling silver card from under his pillow and handing it to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng’s expression darkened when he saw the bank card.
“Grandpa Lin, what does this mean? I’m here to treat your legs, not to ask for money.”
“Little Feng, listen to me. Grandpa Lin apologizes to your family. My leg injuries are all karma, and I couldn’t stop my grandson from taking you to court at that time.”
“This is some money I’ve saved over the years. There’s fifty thousand yuan in there, consider it compensation for your family…” Old Lin said, his eyes dimming again.
Because of this incident, he had been avoiding Lin Feng’s family all these years.
“Grandpa Lin, you better put away the bank card for now. Let me give you acupuncture first. We can talk after the treatment,” Lin Feng suggested.
“Okay… okay,” Old Lin nodded helplessly.
Lin Feng removed the blanket covering Old Lin’s legs.
When Lin Feng saw Old Lin’s legs, he couldn’t help but inhale sharply. Old Lin’s legs had atrophied, revealing the outline of his bones.
His lower half was a blood-red color, and there were horrifying scratch marks on his legs from prehistoric creatures, saber-toothed tigers.
“Grandpa Lin, I’m going to start the acupuncture,” Lin Feng said, suppressing the complex emotions in his heart, and began the treatment.
Old Lin nodded.
Lin Feng held the silver needle and performed the Dragon Dance Nine Heavens Divine Needle technique. However, Old Lin’s legs showed no response, leaving Lin Feng puzzled.
“This shouldn’t be. Why do I have this feeling? Why can’t I heal Grandpa Lin?” Lin Feng whispered to himself.
Despite the confusion, Lin Feng attempted acupuncture again.
This time, even after finishing the treatment, Old Lin still showed no response.
Lin Feng became even more puzzled.
“Why do I have this feeling?” While speaking, Lin Feng accidentally touched Old Lin’s atrophied legs with his fingers and felt a strange force surging through his body.
“A completely new ability!” Lin Feng exclaimed.
Currently, Lin Feng possessed four abilities: the defense of the Black Tortoise, the combat skills of the White Tiger, the strength of the Golden Bull, and the speed of the Cheetah.
Now, Lin Feng was about to awaken a new ability.
Lin Feng placed his fingers on Old Lin’s legs, and his ability was fully activated. A runic symbol of a spirit horse appeared in his eyes.
In the moment the ability was triggered, a glow emanated from Lin Feng’s fingertips, slowly enveloping Old Lin’s legs. A healing force began repairing Old Lin’s legs.
Old Lin, witnessing this scene, was completely stunned.
Having encountered prehistoric saber-toothed tigers, he was somewhat mentally prepared.
“Little Feng… I can feel the warmth in my legs…” Old Lin’s voice trembled.
Meanwhile, in Lin Feng’s house,
Two individuals were ransacking Lin Feng’s yard. After looting all the medicinal herbs from the yard and the house, they shifted their focus to a car parked in the yard.
It was the car driven by the girl Yiyi.
The two men crouched outside the car window, trying hard to peer inside. Finally, they spotted a backpack in the trunk.
” Gouzi, look, there’s a backpack in the trunk. It might have something good inside,” the younger one hurriedly asked.
Gouzi, scratching his chin with narrowed eyes, speculated, “I heard Lin Feng has over a million in cash as a dowry. I reckon it’s inside this car, and a backpack should be enough to hold it.”
Saying that, the two exchanged glances.
Soon, they retrieved tools and forcefully opened the car.
The car triggered an alarm, but Murong Mengxi and the other two girls were currently at Old Lin’s house, too far away from Lin Feng’s yard. Additionally, the gossiping women were keeping them distracted.
Therefore, they did not hear the alarm.
In Lin Feng’s yard,
After opening the trunk Gouzi and his companion eagerly picked up the backpack. Upon unzipping it, they found an exquisite leather case.
Both of them became excited.
“Brother Gouzi! Look at this case. In movies, these kinds of leather cases always contain cash. It seems like we hit the jackpot!”
Gouzi tried hard to keep calm.
He took the leather case out, attempting to open it. However, the case had a password, and without it, they couldn’t open the case.
” Gouzi, should we find someone to unlock it?” his companion suggested.
“That’s a good suggestion. You take the herbs and report to Lin Hao; I’ll wait for you at the bridge. Remember not to tell anyone about the leather case. The more people who know, the less money for us.”
” Gouzi, I understand what you’re saying. You can trust me.”
With that, the two of them took the herbs and the leather case, heading in different directions.
At Old Lin’s house.
“Creak—”
Lin Feng opened the door, and everyone turned to look.
“How is it? Did you cure him?” Lin Guochang couldn’t help but ask.
Lin Feng’s face turned pale, and he sighed, “I’m sorry… I did my best.”
“Hahaha! Lin Feng, you couldn’t cure him, and you still have the nerve to come and show off.” Lin Hao, upon hearing Lin Feng’s experience, burst into laughter.
Everyone looked at Lin Hao strangely.
Lin Feng couldn’t cure Old Lin, yet Lin Hao was so happy.
“You unruly grandson!”
From inside the house, Old Lin’s angry voice suddenly came.
