After returning home, Wang Yuangui first handed the remaining change to his wife, Qian Ling, and then recounted the day’s food delivery.
Qian Ling lowered her voice in surprise and delight, exclaiming, “That much?!”
“Yeah, the machine doesn’t lie. Your cooking is really good, wife. But the boss said if we make it even better, we can earn even more.”
Wang Yuangui took out all the seasonings and explained everything carefully again.
Qian Ling whispered, “I know. Sister Lianhua experimented with adding more seasonings and earned enough to cover her daughter’s tuition. We need to work hard too, to save up for our girls’ education.”
Wang Yuangui’s eyes reddened. “Thank goodness we split from the family. From now on, we’ll earn our own money and send all our daughters to school. Honestly, the men in this village can only make money through hard labor—it’s the women who bring in the big bucks.”
Qian Ling laughed and swatted him. “Stop talking nonsense. If it weren’t for you delivering snow and earning money, we wouldn’t have the capital to start this. But things will be better from now on. Come on, let’s try this… Is this alcohol?”
Wang Yuangui nodded. “Beer. They say it removes the gaminess. It’s brewed from barley and tastes even better chilled in the summer. Too bad it’s winter now.”
Qian Ling took note of this and said, “Let’s use this big goose tonight to experiment. The girls can have a good meal too… This beer smells fragrant, and once the dish is cooked, the alcohol will evaporate. The girls can eat it.”
“I’ll go prepare it.”
Wang Yuangui carried the goose outside to the yard.
Qian Ling began examining the seasonings one by one, then decided to go see Song Lianhua after telling Wang Yuangui. She needed to understand the exact differences in the seasonings.
Who knows? This might even become a side business in the future.
…
Su Ling checked her space and found that the dish hadn’t been critically boosted—it was just quietly stored in a food container.
“I’ll take it out to eat tonight,” Su Ling said, sitting back down.
Huahua: “Host, check the backend. There’s a lot of new stuff—probably people trading items for money.”
Su Ling opened the store’s backend and indeed found many vintage items.
Watches were common, with the system pricing them between 30 to 100 yuan. The store listed them for a few thousand, suggesting they weren’t particularly valuable.
There were also fountain pens, which weren’t priced too high either.
The rest were mostly accessories:
Gold and silver necklaces, for instance, had decent prices, and the store’s listed prices were reasonable. They just hadn’t found the right buyers yet.
Hmm, a box?
“What a beautiful box! The system actually paid 10,000 for it?! And the store’s price is 200,000?!”
And someone bought it immediately?!
“Must be an antique,” Huahua said, hopping onto the counter.
Su Ling nodded. “Looks like it.”
The buyer left a message: Boss, selling such a box so cheaply—you must be a saint reincarnated! And the delivery was so fast, and it’s genuine! Boss, if you have more items in the future, message me. I’ll definitely buy them.
Su Ling glanced at the big spender and replied: Okay.
“Huahua, it seems people in the future are pretty wealthy.”
Su Ling sighed, then continued browsing the other items.
The rest weren’t worth much—the system’s purchase prices and the store’s listed prices weren’t too far apart. Probably only collectors of vintage items would buy them.
But this world didn’t lack people who loved old items. Even the used radio Su Ling thought might not sell had just been purchased, and that single buyer had taken nearly half of the vintage stock.
The buyer’s message read: I’m so nostalgic. I never thought these familiar things would circle back to me one day. Boss, where did you even find so many treasures?
Su Ling replied: More goodies will be available later. Stay tuned for store updates.
Huahua: “Host, you’ve leveled up to LV1. Once you reach LV5, you can unlock a world channel.”
Su Ling: “That’s not going to be easy…”
Huahua proudly twitched her whiskers. “Host, work hard. When the time comes, I’ll pull some strings for you, and we’ll pick a wealthy, good world.”
Su Ling happily hugged Huahua. “Cats really are the best beings in the world!”
After handling the recycled vintage items, the sky had gradually darkened. Aside from the snow delivery workers still hauling snow, the shop was nearly empty of customers.
Su Ling waited a little longer, preparing to close up and head back to enjoy her braised goose, when the door suddenly opened.
Ding-a-ling—
“Boss Su, it’s me.”
Old Man Wu stepped forward, his face red and chapped from the cold, smiling warmly.
Su Ling looked at him in surprise. “Old Man Wu, you’ve already gathered vintage items so quickly?”
“Time waits for no one, and this snow won’t last forever. I can’t miss this opportunity,” Old Man Wu joked before motioning for the people behind him to help carry in a large box.
“You can just place it on the counter.”
Thanks to her system-enhanced physique, Su Ling’s strength and stamina were exceptional. She effortlessly lifted the heavy box without even panting, though checking the payment on the cash register was a bit awkward.
So she simply bought a large floor scale instead.
Huahua transmitted a message: Host, just put the whole box on it—the system will scan everything.
Su Ling placed the box on the scale, and the system immediately gave a price: 300,000 yuan.
“Old Man Wu, this box is worth 300,000.”
Old Man Wu’s eyes lit up, and he instructed his men to start bringing in more boxes one after another.
Su Ling didn’t bother opening them to inspect the contents. After scanning each one, she just set them aside in a pile to be stored in the system later when she closed the shop.
The boxes varied in weight, and their values naturally differed as well. But what truly shocked Su Ling was one particularly light box that was actually worth 1 million yuan.
Old Man Wu seemed to know what was inside and didn’t elaborate, quietly jotting down the total sum with a fountain pen before frowning in thought about how to allocate the machines.
Once all the boxes had been weighed and the total calculated, the final amount came out to—
10 million yuan.
“Old Man Wu, I can provide the machines for free. You just need to tell me where to place them. As for the money, if you’d like to purchase food supplies, you can give me the delivery locations, and I’ll have them sent directly,” Su Ling said.
Old Man Wu let out a relieved sigh and handed her a sheet of paper.
“Boss Su, can the snow collection, food collection, and vending machines be placed in all these locations?”
The paper was densely filled on both sides, so Old Man Wu looked slightly nervous.
Su Ling nodded. “Of course.”
Though it seemed like a lot, some of the locations were actually midway between two places—this was already a reduced number.
Old Man Wu exhaled in relief. “Then I’ll trouble you with arranging it this way. As for the food delivery points, I’ll first consider what supplies are needed.”
Su Ling invited Old Man Wu to sit down and think it over while she began placing orders for the machines in the system store.
“Old Man Wu, I assume someone will notify the locations in advance? We wouldn’t want the machines mistaken for trash and thrown away,” Su Ling suddenly asked as she placed the orders.
Old Man Wu chuckled. “Don’t worry, Boss Su. Everything’s been arranged.”
Su Ling set the delivery for the next morning and closed the store interface.
By then, Old Man Wu had already written down the new delivery addresses and listed the required supplies.
“Thank you for your trouble, Boss Su.”
Su Ling smiled. “No trouble at all. But because the shipment is quite large, the placement might take some time. I’d recommend checking the inventory tomorrow afternoon. If anything’s missing, you can come straight to me.”
Old Man Wu thanked her again before having his companions line up to buy a few things they wanted. Then, with a final farewell, he left.
