Chapter 2: Clearing Out the Vampire Family
Anyway, Lu Zhoushan had already taken on Lu Qingming’s identity to live.
As long as the younger son was still alive, what identity he used didn’t matter.
It was a pity the elder son had died, but they had already fought for everything that could be fought for.
All in all, not bad!
Gu Qiangwei shook her head, remembering that in her previous life, she had a mysterious space. She closed her eyes, wanting to see if that space still existed after her rebirth.
Closing and reopening her eyes—she was in!
But the space was barren and empty, nothing inside.
In her previous life, she had accidentally activated this space. At first, it had been just as empty.
Then one day, it suddenly changed—there was a plot of farmland.
After that, it had never changed again.
Now, after being reborn, it was back to its empty state.
What exactly determined the changes in this space?
Gu Qiangwei couldn’t figure it out in her past life, and she still didn’t understand it in this one.
Since the space was bare and had nothing, it meant she couldn’t use it to grow or produce anything.
Was this space going to be useless now?
As she touched her chin in thought, Gu Qiangwei’s eyes suddenly lit up.
She had a great idea.
If she wanted to leave one day, it would likely only be after the news of her husband’s death arrived. Only then would she be free to go.
For now, she still had to endure Wang Shufen and Lu Minghua.
After all, she was still their daughter-in-law in name. With their son out on a mission, if the daughter-in-law refused to help with chores, people would criticize her for being unfilial.
Taking a deep breath, Gu Qiangwei couldn’t swallow the bitterness from her previous life.
She decided—she was going to do it!
After a short rest, Wang Shufen made breakfast. After eating, Gu Qiangwei excused herself, saying she needed to rest.
She cooked dinner in the afternoon.
After dinner, there wasn’t much to do, so Wang Shufen and Lu Minghua went out for a walk, while Gu Qiangwei stayed in her room to rest.
When they returned, she even came out to pour herself a glass of water and greeted them.
Wang Shufen and Lu Minghua didn’t find anything suspicious.
Late at night.
Gu Qiangwei quietly opened her bedroom door and stepped out.
Although the space was bare and couldn’t be used for farming or crafting, it could still store items.
In her previous life, the old couple had treated her terribly. They knew the truth but never told her, just let her work like a slave to earn money and serve them so they could live in comfort.
She couldn’t swallow that kind of betrayal!
Since she planned to leave one day, she needed to prepare.
There was still quite a bit of valuable property in the house.
She silently entered the old couple’s room. They had a lot of savings, and she was going to take all of it.
Once news of her husband’s death arrived and she left, she’d cut all ties with the people left behind.
She was going to live her own life.
Their savings were usually kept under the bed in a box.
Gu Qiangwei used her space to directly suck the entire box in.
While doing that, she noticed another box hidden in a corner.
It was tightly sealed and well-hidden—it had to be something valuable. Without hesitation, she stored it too.
Beyond that, all the good furniture in the house was also collected into her space.
Meat, rice, flour, all the spices in the kitchen—everything was taken.
She tiptoed through the house, and anything she thought was useful, she transferred into the space.
Her mind kept replaying the events of her past life, and her hatred surged like a tidal wave—uncontainable.
At first, she was only going to take useful items, but soon, she didn’t care if they were useful or not—if taking it made that couple suffer, then into the space it went.
Once everything had been cleared out, she looked around at the now bare and empty house. It looked way bigger, and Gu Qiangwei felt utterly satisfied.
With all these things, she could live well after she left.
This was just compensation for everything she had endured!
Gu Qiangwei snorted coldly, and to make things look more convincing, she also stored a few random items from her own room into the space.
She even made a trip to the toilet and took all the toilet paper.
The old couple would need to use the bathroom in the morning—and when they needed toilet paper the most, they’d have none!
Only then did she crawl back into bed and fall asleep.
The next morning.
Gu Qiangwei was still sleeping when she was startled awake by a piercing scream from outside.
Startled, she shook her head and tried to wake herself up. Judging by the scream, Wang Shufen must have discovered everything was gone.
“Qiangwei, come out here now!”
Wang Shufen was yelling and pounding on the door.
Before Gu Qiangwei could even open it, Wang Shufen had already burst in.
“Ahhh!”
Gu Qiangwei screamed too.
Pretending to be groggy from sleep, she blinked blearily. “What’s going on? Where are my things?”
She acted completely panicked.
“What happened?!”
She shouted loudly, grabbing Wang Shufen’s hand. Before the woman could say anything, Gu Qiangwei burst into tears.
“Were we robbed?!”
“Ahhh!”
“What did they take?!”
“I’m so scared! Why would a thief steal so much? When did they get in?!”
She sobbed while clinging to Wang Shufen.
Wang Shufen glanced around the room—it was true, a lot of things were missing.
“Aiyah, stop crying already!”
Wang Shufen smacked her hand. “Go check outside—everything’s gone!”
Listening to Gu Qiangwei’s crying, Wang Shufen finally started to piece things together.
The two of them went out.
Gu Qiangwei saw that the whole place was empty. The wind blew in through the open window, making the curtains flutter.
Some garbage was scattered on the floor. The place looked like they had just moved in.
Gu Qiangwei almost couldn’t help but laugh, but she forced herself to hold it in.
She pretended to be scared, backing up slowly. She stumbled and fell to the ground.
“Mom, where are the things? The furniture? Why is everything gone?”
She looked up at Wang Shufen, her face full of confusion.
“How would I know?” Wang Shufen snapped. “It was already like this when I got up! You’re still sound asleep!”
She shouted angrily.
Lu Minghua came out of his room, still dressing. “Why is it so noisy this early…”
He was going to complain about the commotion, but when he saw the empty living room—he froze.
“Where’s everything?”
His pupils contracted, his face full of disbelief.
Was this a joke?
Their house had been packed with stuff—years of savings, their entire fortune. Now it was gone?
“Waaahhh!”
Gu Qiangwei burst into tears again. “What happened? Were we robbed? So much is missing, all of it gone… this, this was…”
The more she cried, the more choked up she became.
Hearing her words, Lu Minghua almost passed out from anger.
“This… this…”
He ran around the house, checked the kitchen—pots, pans, dishes—all gone!
Even the rice, flour, oil, and meat were gone.
How could this be?
Where did it all go?
“It must’ve been a thief!” Lu Minghua was panicking. “A thief took everything! Call the police—report it now!”
He was pacing anxiously, while Wang Shufen slapped her thighs in frustration.
Gu Qiangwei sat on the ground, crying.
The commotion had drawn neighbors over.
They peered in through the windows and saw the empty house. Their eyes widened.
“Shufen, what happened?”
“Where’s all your stuff?”
“Are you guys moving out?”
Hearing that well-meaning but ridiculous question, Gu Qiangwei almost lost it.
Wang Shufen gave a bitter smile. “What joke are you making? Why would we move? Everything’s been stolen—we’re calling the police!”
The neighbor looked around and swallowed nervously.
When thieves stole, wasn’t it usually just cash or valuables?
Who the hell steals all the furniture too?!
This… this!!!
