“My Husband Faked His Death, So I Remarried His Commander and Followed Him into the Army” Chapter 30

Chapter 30: The Space Upgrades, Fields Appear

It had been a long time since the two of them had last met, so their relationship was still quite good. But if they spent too much time together…

They’d start bickering.

“I’m only splitting you two up for your own good.”

Seeing Su Qingshuang getting all puffed up and about to argue with Su Qingyi, Gu Qiangwei quickly stepped in.
“Xiaoshuang, I actually think your brother has a point. Two girls making too much money—it does attract attention, and it can be dangerous.”

“Our shop isn’t that close to home either. If the two of us go together and we’re not physically strong, like your brother said, if we run into trouble, we wouldn’t even be able to run away. So it’s better if we train ourselves a bit!”

“Besides, I’m going to be living at your house now, right? So after breakfast each morning, we’ll jog to the shop together. At night, we’ll jog back again—get in some more exercise before resting.”

Su Qingshuang pouted when she heard that. She had to admit, it did make sense. But after today’s training intensity, she was simply exhausted.

Then suddenly, a new thought popped into her mind.

“Qiangwei, why are you taking my brother’s side?”

As she said this, Su Qingshuang looked at the two of them with suspicion.
“You two aren’t hiding something from me, are you? Something fishy going on?”

Something fishy?

Gu Qiangwei and Su Qingyi exchanged a look—and just like that, both their faces flushed red.

“Xiaoshuang, don’t say such nonsense!”

Su Qingyi stiffened his face. “Saying stuff like that can ruin Comrade Gu’s reputation!”

Only then did Su Qingshuang back off, curling her lip in silence.

After resting for a bit, the group resumed training again, continuing until they were drenched in sweat. Only then did they wash up and return to the house to rest.

That night, Gu Qiangwei slept alone. After lying down for a while and hearing no sound outside, she quietly entered the space.

Almost every night, she would come in to check—hoping for a change, hoping that fields would appear.

If fields appeared, that would be amazing.

But just like the previous nights, the space still held only the random furniture and items she had collected from Wang Shufen and the others. Nothing new.

This time, Su Qingyi stayed with them longer than before.

On the second and third days, he continued training with them. On the first day, they couldn’t even regulate their breathing while running and ended up gasping and unable to finish two laps.

But by the third day, they had learned to breathe properly and could manage two full laps, though still panting.

Remembering her past life—how helpless she had been against criminals, and how that had led to Su Qingshuang’s death—Gu Qiangwei gritted her teeth and pushed herself to try for a third lap. But halfway through, she ran out of strength.

Just as she was about to fall, Su Qingyi reached out and caught her from behind.

The two were suddenly very close. His hand landed on her back, and then he quickly let go.

“Be careful while running. Since you can already manage two laps, don’t push too hard. Do some lighter exercises to relax. Rushing things won’t help.”

After saying this, Su Qingyi jogged ahead at a slower pace, and Gu Qiangwei forced herself to finish the third lap.

In addition to running, they also added other forms of training.

Su Qingshuang looked miserable every day. After their nightly training sessions, her legs felt like they were about to break the next morning.

Her calves were numb, her whole body sore.

But by the third day, as her condition improved, the pain mostly disappeared. After training, they would go home for a meal and then rest.

Watching how exhausted Gu Qiangwei and Su Qingshuang were, Su Jianbin and He Xiulan couldn’t help but ask Su Qingyi,
“Is this really okay?”

“They’re both girls. Maybe they shouldn’t push themselves so hard.”

But Su Qingyi firmly shook his head.
“They’ll get used to it within a week. From gasping for breath to being able to regulate it now—they’re making progress.”

“If they don’t build up their stamina now, and something dangerous happens in the future, they really won’t be able to escape. I want them to succeed in their careers, but more importantly, I want them to know how to protect themselves!”

Hearing this, He Xiulan and Su Jianbin had nothing more to say.

Meanwhile, Gu Qiangwei lay in bed for a bit but still pushed herself to enter the space again.

And this time—she saw it.

Fields had appeared!

Just like in her previous life!

What was once bare land had now turned into organized plots, ready for planting.

Seeing the space change made Gu Qiangwei nearly jump with joy.

This was incredible!

But then she started thinking… and recalling her past life.

In her previous life, the fields hadn’t appeared on the third day, had they? This time, they had appeared much earlier.

Why?

She carefully thought over everything she’d done that day. Other than Su Qingyi helping her when she nearly fell, nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

Could it have been because Su Qingyi helped her?

Was it their contact that triggered a change in the space?

Realizing this possibility, Gu Qiangwei decided she had to test it. If the changes really were linked to Su Qingyi, that was huge.

While her thoughts ran wild, she made up her mind: now that the fields had appeared, she couldn’t waste them. Once the New Year was over, she’d buy some seeds and start planting in the space.

Vegetables grown in the space were probably unique, and in her past life, she never got to try this out—so now was the perfect time.

To test her theory, that afternoon, while going upstairs, she deliberately paused at the stairway—and spotted Su Qingyi coming up.

She pretended to lose her balance and fall.

She slipped a few steps, reaching out for support. Su Qingyi quickly rushed forward and caught her.

“Are you okay?”

Gu Qiangwei shook her head. “I’m fine. I was just thinking about something and got distracted. I’ll be more careful next time!”

They exchanged a few words, and only then did Su Qingyi let go. Gu Qiangwei thanked him.

“No need to be so polite.”

“What are you two doing?”

Su Qingshuang had just come from the kitchen and looked up to see the two of them on the stairs talking.

“I was spacing out and nearly fell down the stairs, but your brother caught me!” Gu Qiangwei patted her chest as she came down. “Scared me half to death. I’m not thinking about nonsense again when I walk downstairs!”

“You really shouldn’t. Be more careful!”

Su Qingshuang scolded her a little, and Gu Qiangwei nodded sweetly.

She had thought that simply making contact with Su Qingyi would cause the space to change again. So that night, when she got back to her room, she eagerly locked the door and entered the space.

But…

There was still only the one field.

Nothing else had changed.

Huh? Why no new changes?

Could it be that the space’s transformation wasn’t triggered by her contact with Su Qingyi after all?
