My husband lost his memory after three years of marriage. Chapter 2

“This Armani mini dress I’m wearing probably isn’t any better than drinking in the eyes of this possessive maniac.”

Ji Linglu belatedly tried to pull her dress down a bit, feeling somewhat innocent in her heart.

“Honestly, this was the longest skirt I could find among my new dresses before leaving, and it’s just a normal mini skirt length anyway.”

“Why is Gu Yu so conservative!”

But Gu Yu’s icy glare was as sharp as a knife, and coupled with her prior lie, she dared not speak or move at the moment.

Ji Linglu watched Gu Yu pinch the bridge of his nose with his eyes closed, then casually tear off his tie from his neck. She was startled and couldn’t help but think in fear, “Is this dog of a man, Gu Yu, going to use this thing to tie me up and break my legs?”

“I was wrong,” she immediately said, kicking off her high heels and standing straight like a scolded elementary school student. “Honey, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have—”

“11:05 PM.”

Gu Yu coldly glanced at his wrist, the words seeming to be forced out from between his teeth. Then, he lifted his eyelids, his indifferent gaze returning to Ji Linglu’s face.

As if he hadn’t heard her apology, his voice was as indifferent and devoid of warmth as his gaze: “Had enough fun?”

Ji Linglu shivered, frightened by the coldness in his words.

“Crap, acting cute isn’t working.”

She looked at Gu Yu nervously and fearfully. Seeing the man raise his foot to step towards her, she subconsciously raised her hand to block him and took two steps back.

“Don’t be angry, don’t be angry… It’s my fault, listen to me!”

Ji Linglu spoke very quickly: “Today is Bian Yue’s birthday, and we’re such close friends, I couldn’t refuse her invitation, right? And I left at eight and came out of the bar at 10:30! I came home immediately—immediately! But it takes time to get home…”

“I didn’t mean to lie to you. Every time I’m with Bian Yue, you worry. What if I told you and you didn’t agree? But if you agreed, you wouldn’t be happy, and I didn’t want you to be unhappy. I wanted to do this perfectly without you knowing, but I didn’t expect you to come back tonight…”

Towards the end, her voice gradually decreased and became less confident.

Ji Linglu carefully looked up at Gu Yu’s expression—hmm…

It was even worse than before she explained?

…

“Oh, oh, oh,” Ji Linglu realized something at the crucial moment, quickly lowered her hands, swallowed, and walked barefoot towards Gu Yu as if walking into a trap, saying, “I wasn’t avoiding you. You were so fierce just now, it scared me. I was afraid…”

She came to the man, then hugged him, burying her head and softly saying, “So it was just a white lie…”

Feeling the man’s tense nerves barely relax a bit, Ji Linglu breathed a sigh of relief, and her heart slowly returned to its place.

She rubbed against him, then looked up with innocent eyes, her voice becoming soft: “You’ll forgive me, right, honey?”

“Perfect?” Gu Yu sneered, his eyes deep and heavy. “So, if I hadn’t rushed back to see you, working so hard that I didn’t even have time to eat and repeatedly told you not to drink or go to the bar tonight, and been kept in the dark by your so-called white lie, that’s what you call perfect?”

“…That’s not what I meant,” Ji Linglu said softly, shrinking her neck.

She rarely had the chance to see Gu Yu truly angry, so she didn’t have much experience in defusing the situation. Plus, in the three years of their marriage, Gu Yu usually spoiled her to the point where even she thought it was a bit much. So, in Ji Linglu’s subconscious, she believed that as long as she acted cute, nothing couldn’t be resolved.

If it couldn’t be resolved, it just meant she wasn’t cute enough.

Knowing that she was in the wrong, she softened her attitude even more. But Ji Linglu had always been clumsy with words, and it was well-known that she would say the wrong thing when nervous. The explanation just now was already an exceptional performance. More words meant more mistakes, so she simply hugged Gu Yu tighter, burying her head obediently in his arms, and softly said, “You know that’s not what I meant, you’re just being unreasonable…”

Gu Yu didn’t speak. Ji Linglu thought she could try again.

“And you lied to me too. You clearly said you’d be back next week, I wasn’t prepared at all…”

“I remembered what you said, I didn’t drink. So many people were urging me to drink, but I didn’t touch a drop…” Ji Linglu held up one finger, emphasizing pitifully, “Not even a drop…”

As she spoke, her tone involuntarily regained some of her usual coquettishness. She became softer and softer. She didn’t know what Gu Yu’s reaction was, but she had already made herself feel wronged: “I really listened to you. I chose the longest skirt when I went out, and I rushed home before 10:30. Bian Yue and the others almost laughed me to death when they found out I had a curfew…”

“Doesn’t it sound like I’m so miserable, Mr. Gu? Please have pity on me, don’t be angry, okay?”

The man lowered his head and looked at her. When their eyes met, Ji Linglu quickly added, “And don’t be fierce to me!”

Gu Yu stared at the person in his arms. After a long while, Ji Linglu heard him sigh softly, as if he loved her too much, with a familiar helplessness of “I spoiled her, so I have to bear it.”

He hugged her tighter and said in a deep voice, “Don’t let it happen again.”

Ji Linglu jumped up like she had won and hugged his neck, happily kissing him on the face, pointing out four fingers and vowing, “I promise!”

The frown that Gu Yu had been wearing since he entered the door finally loosened slightly. He lowered his head and kissed Ji Linglu on the lips, wrinkling his nose in displeasure when he smelled a faint hint of red wine on her. Pressing against Ji Linglu’s lips, the nameless fire in his heart almost couldn’t be suppressed.

Gu Yu lowered his forehead against Ji Linglu’s, his deep eyes looking straight into hers, his low voice carrying a hint of suppressed weight: “Are you obedient, baby?”
