Chapter 1
“Ah… Xinhua Brother … you, you… slow down…”
When Lin Qian regained consciousness, what she first heard were these breathless, fragmented words.
That coquettish voice, that breathy tone—although she’d never had a man in her past life, she had witnessed plenty of such scenes. Lin Qian twitched her lips. She couldn’t help muttering inwardly: Which shameless pair of wild lovers is this, making the sky their blanket and the earth their bed?
“Jingjing, do you like it?”
The man, addressed as Xinhua-ge, rasped against the woman’s ear. Lin Qian wished she were deaf and blind—she really didn’t enjoy scenes like this.
Just as she was about to slip away silently, another sentence froze her in place.
“Between me and sister-in-law, who do you like more?”
That one line made Lin Qian’s eyes go wide. So this really is a pair of wild adulterers?
“Of course I like you, little enchantress.”
The man’s voice came again. Lin Qian was about to turn away when suddenly, memories that didn’t belong to her flooded her mind—the original owner’s memories.
After she finished sorting through them, Lin Qian clenched her teeth. No wonder the original owner had died for no apparent reason—no injuries, nothing unusual. It turned out she had stumbled upon this sordid affair. Unable to take the blow, she ran off and perished. And now Lin Qian had taken her place.
She didn’t know what the original owner might have wanted, but since the body was hers now, she couldn’t let herself be wronged.
If they liked playing risky games, sneaking around in this grove where anyone might appear—then she wasn’t going to be polite.
Lin Qian silently summoned her level-one wood ability, directing vines nearby to creep toward the pair.
Lost in their thrill, the two never noticed until the vines had already bound them tightly together, leaving no space between them.
“Who’s there?”
The man barked sharply, glancing around to figure out how vines had entwined them.
Lin Qian stepped slowly out from behind a tree.
“Exciting enough for you?”
She gave Yun Xinhua and Ma Jingjing a half-smile. Both of them were all too familiar to the original owner. Ma Jingjing had come from the countryside—she was said to have saved the commissar’s wife, who then arranged for her to work in the supply shop at the military compound.
The original owner had envied her, even mentioned it to Yun Xinhua.
He had shown nothing but irritation then, even scolding the original owner. From that day, she’d never brought Ma Jingjing up again. Still, she’d envied the woman’s luck.
Who would’ve thought they were entangled like this?
“What are you doing here?”
Yun Xinhua’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Lin Qian, but he quickly masked his face with disdain.
“Why shouldn’t I be here?”
Catching the look of disgust in his eyes, Lin Qian sneered.
“Afraid I’ll catch you two shamelessly rolling around here?”
Her sneer deepened as she gave them both a slow once-over.
“Not bad assets.”
Her gaze lingered deliberately on Ma Jingjing’s chest, and she remarked with mock appreciation.
“Lin Qian, release us from this!”
Yun Xinhua frowned at Lin Qian’s scrutiny of Ma Jingjing and barked impatiently.
Lin Qian only laughed, contempt flashing in her eyes.
“Yun Xinhua, if I recall correctly, wasn’t it my family’s quota that let you enlist in the army?”
Her words made Yun Xinhua’s brow furrow. He hated being reminded—every time he saw Lin Qian, he was forced to recall what he had sacrificed for that position: his marriage, plus the monthly allowance he had to send her two old parents.
It only deepened his resentment toward her.
“We’re husband and wife.”
He forced his voice into a softer register, unwilling to let his darker thoughts show.
“Heh. A tainted man is no better than garbage. I don’t want you.”
Lin Qian’s cold words made unease flicker in his chest.
Though he’d been scheming to get rid of her, he didn’t want their affair to blow up—if word spread, he could be expelled from the army.
“Qianqian, I was wrong. I’ll never do anything to hurt you again.”
His mouth pleaded, but inside he thought: Once I get the chance, I’ll make her vanish without a trace.
“Yun Xinhua, oh Yun Xinhua, you really can bend and stretch.”
Lin Qian’s eyes narrowed at his pitiful facade. But the glint of malice in his eyes was plain.
Her instincts told her something was wrong with this body. Activating her wood power, she healed it slightly—and finally understood.
The original owner hadn’t died of heartbreak. She’d been poisoned slowly.
All those “health soups” Yun Xinhua had fed her—so that was it.
Lin Qian’s gaze turned icy, her killing intent nearly tangible. He had dared to plot against her life.
Since the body was hers now, she wouldn’t let it pass. If he wanted children? He’d never have them.
Her power slipped into his body. He sensed something off, but couldn’t detect what. With a twist of will, she tied a knot in his lifeline, sealing off his ability to sire children.
Why not castrate him outright? That’d be too easy. Better to let him live—she could take her time. If nothing else, she could always make him die mid-act someday.
She smiled coldly at the thought.
“Qianqian, wife, I was wrong. I’ll never do it again.”
Bound tight, Yun Xinhua begged again when she made no move to release them.
Lin Qian’s eyes narrowed, ignoring him completely.
When she stayed silent, his mask cracked, and he erupted in curses, hurling every insult he could think of.
Lin Qian listened with a lazy smile, letting him rage until he tired out. Then, still smiling sweetly, she spoke at last:
“Yun Xinhua, since you two like thrills so much, why don’t I give you an experience you’ll never forget?”
