Chapter 107: She Really Brought It Up
The glass factory’s Manager Yu was a straightforward person. He made it clear that as long as their Jinxiu Canning Factory had all the necessary documentation, he could supply them.
“Originally, we require a minimum order of one thousand canning jars. But if you want to use them, you can place orders based on your actual needs—it doesn’t have to be a thousand,” Manager Yu said, having considered that their factory was newly established and might not yet have such high demand. So he made an exception for them.
Qiu Yinuo was deeply grateful. “Manager Yu, you’ve really helped us a lot.”
“After you saved my son’s life despite being a complete stranger, I knew you were someone of great character. In the future, when your business grows and the orders exceed one thousand jars, we’ll need to discuss the specifics again. We might even need to sign a long-term contract.”
After seeing Manager Yu off, Manager Wang looked worried. “Comrade Qiu, if your village’s canning factory starts doing well, you won’t stop coming here, right?”
Most of the skilled workers in their factory had moved to the R&D department. It wasn’t easy to find someone competent enough to oversee things from the outside.
If Qiu Yinuo ended up going back to the village full-time, what would he do?
None of the current workers could quickly get the hang of the new components being developed. But Qiu Yinuo, after only spending a little time studying them, could fully assemble them with ease—it was as if she were born for this line of work.
Manager Wang couldn’t bear to lose such a talent.
“How could I? At most, I’ll just offer suggestions. It won’t interfere with the work here.”
“That’s good. As long as you say so, I can relax. You know the busiest time for our factory is when we’re developing new components. The rest of the time, there’s not much going on. If you ever need to take care of something, just let me know in advance. I’m not the kind of person who’s unreasonable.”
“Of course I know that, Manager. I know exactly what kind of person you are. Actually, I do have something I need to take care of. I’ll need to go back to the provincial capital in a few days. Do you think you could grant me and Qianjin two days off?”
The matter regarding the peach preserves still required her personal attention back there.
Manager Wang: “…”
At that moment, he really wanted to slap himself—why couldn’t he have kept his mouth shut?
Well, there you go. She actually brought it up.
He hadn’t expected Qiu Yinuo to be so blunt about it.
Seeing that Manager Wang didn’t respond, Qiu Yinuo quickly added, “As for the work Qianjin will miss, I’ll come back with him later to make sure it gets done.”
Director Wang’s expression lit up immediately. “You promise?”
“Yes.”
“Then it’s settled! His leave is approved!” Afraid she’d change her mind, Director Wang turned and practically sprinted away in excitement.
…
When they got off work and headed back to the village, Qiu Yinuo had Jinzi make a detour to Taolin Village.
By the time they arrived, Village Head Lin’s family had just finished dinner.
“Is Village Head Lin home?”
The person who opened the door was his eldest daughter-in-law. “Who is it?”
“I’m Qiu Yinuo from neighboring Ping’an Village.”
The eldest daughter-in-law had long heard of Qiu Yinuo’s name—not only could she fix tractors, but now she was starting some sort of peach preserves business. These past few days, her father-in-law had been praising her nonstop at home, even lamenting that such a talented person wasn’t from their own Taolin Village.
If Qiu Yinuo weren’t already married, her father-in-law might have told her youngest brother-in-law to try and marry her.
Even though the youngest brother-in-law was only eighteen, in the father-in-law’s eyes, he still wasn’t good enough for someone like Qiu Yinuo. The young man had thrown a bit of a tantrum at home because of this.
“Oh, what a rare guest! I’ve heard my father-in-law mention Comrade Qiu so many times. I’ve been wanting to meet you.” The eldest daughter-in-law opened the door and welcomed Qiu Yinuo in. “Dad, Comrade Qiu is here to see you.”
Village Head Lin, who was smoking dry tobacco in the main room, stood up immediately upon hearing that Qiu Yinuo had come. He went out to greet her personally.
His regard for her caught Lin Junliang’s attention. He followed his father out the door, curious to see what kind of woman could impress his father this much—to the point of even suggesting such a ridiculous idea as marrying her into their family.
But the moment he saw her, Lin Junliang nearly stumbled backward in shock, taking several steps back.
His father had lost his mind. That Qiu Yinuo was built like an ox—just by looking at her frame, he could tell she could probably crush both of them.
“Comrade Qiu, what brings you here so late? Have you eaten yet? Do you want your sister-in-law to make you a bowl of noodles before you go?”
Qiu Yinuo quickly waved her hand. “No need, I just came from work. My mother’s waiting for me at home to eat.”
“Then what brings you here?” Village Head Lin had actually planned to visit the county committee compound tomorrow to talk to his cousin about the joint village venture and to subtly express goodwill on Qiu Yinuo’s behalf.
“I met with the factory director of the glass bottle plant today. He said they can supply jars for our new canning factory. We can order according to our needs—no minimum of one thousand. In the future, once our business picks up and we order more than a thousand at a time, we’ll need to sign a formal contract. Manager Yu also promised to give us the lowest price.”
“Really?”
Village Head Lin’s hand, still holding the tobacco pipe, trembled—he was clearly excited.
He’d originally planned to trouble his cousin for help with this. He hadn’t expected Qiu Yinuo to settle everything on her own in just a few days.
“Of course. But Manager Yu has one condition.”
Village Head Lin paused, heart suddenly sinking, worried that it would be something difficult or unreasonable.
“What’s the condition?”
“Our paperwork must be complete.”
Relief flooded his face. For a joint project between two villages, submitting reports and formalizing everything was only natural. And with his cousin around, it wasn’t a problem at all.
“Alright, I’ll handle that. You don’t have to worry. Right now, our biggest challenge is solving the issue of distribution.”
“We can all brainstorm together. Three ordinary folks can be as wise as Zhuge Liang, right? You can ask the villagers for ideas. After all, if we make money, everyone will get their share by the end of the year.”
“Agreed.”
Once their discussion was over, Qiu Yinuo got ready to leave. Village Head Lin tried to keep her, “Why not stay for a meal before you go?”
“Really, Village head, I’m not just being polite. We’ll have plenty of chances in the future.”
Only after she had completely left did Lin Junliang come out from the house, watching his father sigh with heartfelt admiration.
“With Qiu Yinuo around, Ping’an Village is going to become something incredible. She’s amazing. How did she even manage to get through to the director of the glass factory? I probably couldn’t even get a meeting without a certificate from the town…”
Then, with another heavy sigh, he muttered, “Why doesn’t our Taolin Village have any young people like her, someone who truly thinks for the village? Such a shame she married so early. If not, we could’ve had our third son marry her. Then our village…”
Lin Junliang practically jumped up in anger. “Dad, you’ve completely lost it. Forget whether she’s married! What about her age? Isn’t she older than me? And look at that build! If she pounced on me, she’d probably flatten me!”
“You think you’re made of dough? That someone could just squash you? You dare to look down on her? Have you looked in a mirror lately? You can’t carry anything heavy, you can’t lift anything with those arms. I’d say she wouldn’t even look your way. Don’t go embarrassing yourself.”
