Chapter 115: You’re Too Cruel
“Really?”
Qiu Yinuo’s eyes were filled with uncontrollable joy. She asked casually, “How could your stomach hurt?”
Qiu Qianjin winced, unable to suppress the chill spreading down his neck.
For a moment, he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. Why did he feel like his sister seemed a little happy?
“Come on, I’ll take you to the hospital to have a look.”
Qiu Qianjin froze for a moment. Sure enough, he had misinterpreted that look.
Look at how concerned she was for him. A little stomach pain and she was already rushing to take him to the hospital.
“Sis, it’s not that serious. I’m just…” He held his stomach as a sharp pain made beads of cold sweat form on his forehead.
“I can’t take it anymore. My stomach hurts again.”
“Do you want to go to the bathroom?”
“No, I don’t.”
The commotion caught the attention of He Ziqing, who was watching the kids. “Jinzi, what’s wrong with you?”
Qiu Qianjin’s face turned pale, his back drenched in a thin layer of cold sweat. In just a short while, the sweat soaked through his old shirt.
“Sister Yinuo, something’s wrong with Jinzi.”
“Qingqing, stay here with the kids. I’ll take Jinzi to the hospital.”
“I’ll go with you…” He Ziqing tried to offer, but before she could finish, she saw Yinuo unexpectedly muster up some strength and, as if lifting a small chicken, helped Jinzi along. In the blink of an eye, she had already taken him away.
Qiu Qianjin was shaking from the pain all over his body. He wanted to say he could walk by himself, but as soon as his feet hit the ground, his legs went limp and he almost collapsed.
Usually, it was his sister who waited for him to give her a ride to work. But now, somehow, she had found the strength to carry him.
The ride was rough and jarring, but Jinzi felt tears welling up.
Wuwuwu…
His sister must really love him!
“Jinzi, we’ll be there soon.” Fortunately, their home wasn’t far from the hospital, only about five hundred meters.
If it had been any farther, she probably wouldn’t have had the strength to carry him anymore.
He looked thin, but somehow this kid felt heavy, and his bones really dug into her.
The hospital was right ahead, the light of victory almost within reach.
However, Qiu Qianjin struggled and tried to get down. “Sis, I think it doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Qiu Yinuo: “???”
Before she could react, Qiu Qianjin had already nimbly jumped down from her back.
The lightness of his steps made her doubt for a second if he had been fooling her.
As if reading her thoughts, he quickly shook his head and explained, “Sis, I’m not lying. It really hurt just now. I’ve had this problem before; it hurts for a while and then it’s fine.”
Qiu Yinuo frowned. “You’ve had this before?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you go to the hospital for a check-up?”
“It just hurts for a while, and then it’s fine. It’s just a minor issue. There’s no need to spend all that money on a hospital visit.”
Qiu Yinuo: “Don’t avoid treatment. Big illnesses start from small ones that aren’t paid attention to. Since we’re already here, let’s get checked to be sure.”
Qiu Qianjin instinctively wanted to refuse, but when his sister shot him a look, he immediately stopped himself from saying anything.
She was like a fierce tigress—who dared provoke her?
“Fine, I’ll listen to you.”
Qiu Yinuo took her brother to the hospital to register. After a series of presses from the doctor, “Does it hurt here?”
“How about here?”
“A little.”
“How does it hurt?”
After a long while, the doctor finally said, “I suggest he stay in the hospital for observation and have a detailed check-up. Only when we’re sure everything is fine can he be discharged.”
Qiu Qianjin panicked. “But I’m fine! Why do I need to stay in the hospital for observation? Sis, I’m not staying in the hospital! There’s nothing wrong with me, why would I stay?” Hospitals were expensive!
Of course, he didn’t dare say the last sentence out loud, afraid his sister might hit him.
Qiu Yinuo was not polite as she pushed him back onto the bed. “We’ll do whatever the doctor says. Where did your temper come from?”
The doctor wouldn’t suggest hospitalization without a reason. Clearly, something was off, which is why he was advised to stay. If that’s the case, they couldn’t leave.
Thinking about hospitalization, Qiu Yinuo remembered something. Although she felt a bit sorry for her brother, this opportunity was rare.
“Doctor, my brother really likes kids. Could you arrange for him to stay in a ward with lots of children?”
At this point, hospital rooms weren’t divided as specifically as they are now. They were usually grouped by the severity of the condition. Typically, children with less severe conditions would be placed in the same room.
Qiu Qianjin was taken aback. When did he ever like kids? If he liked any, it would be the children in their family, but definitely not anyone else’s kids.
The doctor glanced at the temperamental boy. “I didn’t expect this little guy to like kids. Alright, I’ll arrange a room for you. I’ll make sure that when you walk in, you’ll be surrounded by kids.”
Qiu Qianjin opened his mouth to argue, but his sister quickly silenced him with a sharp look. He instantly changed his tone, forcing a smile. “Thank you, Doctor.”
Once Qiu Yinuo finished the admission process, she took Qiu Qianjin to a room with eight beds.
When they opened the door, the noisy chatter of children abruptly stopped.
Seven kids of different ages looked in unison at Qiu Qianjin, then glanced at Qiu Yinuo. Finally, they craned their necks to look behind them. Huh? Why wasn’t there any other child coming in?
Qiu Qianjin felt uncomfortable under their gaze, awkwardly looking at Qiu Yinuo for help. His eyes pleaded, Can we switch rooms?
After all, he was an adult, and being surrounded by a bunch of little kids made him stand out like a sore thumb.
Qiu Yinuo shot him a glare. “Go lie down in bed. I’ll go home and bring you some clothes later.”
Seeing how awkward he was, Qiu Yinuo leaned in close to her younger brother and lowered her voice, speaking through gritted teeth. “In a bit, make sure to get along with those kids. If there are any children in the room next door, don’t leave them out either.”
“What are you planning?”
“It’s a secret. I’ll tell you when I get back.”
If Qiu Qianjin knew what his sister was planning, he might have run away by now.
However, getting along with the kids wasn’t really difficult for him.
By the time Qiu Yinuo returned home, Qiu Qianjin had already become the “king” of the kids.
Not only the children in his ward, but even the ones from the neighboring ward came over to play with him.
The parents, upon hearing from the nurses that Qianjin was also a patient, didn’t suspect anything bad. In fact, they were relieved to have someone keeping their kids entertained.
They were more than happy to have the help.
Qiu Yinuo observed the scene with satisfaction and nodded approvingly.
It seemed that in the future, Dabao and Erbao would have someone to look after them too.
Soon, it was time for the evening rounds. Qiu Qianjin climbed into bed, feeling tired. “Sis, playing with those little kids is so exhausting.”
“I know. Once you’re better, I’ll cook you some braised pork knuckles.”
“Don’t even think about it! Last time, you made the braised pork knuckles, and you ate them all by yourself.”
Qiu Yinuo glared at him. “If you’re not going to eat, then forget it.”
“And you still haven’t told me why you wanted me to befriend those kids.”
Qiu Yinuo leaned closer to his ear and quietly whispered her plan. Qiu Qianjin went from casual indifference to wide-eyed shock. “Sis, you’re too cruel!”
