Chapter 129: Carrying Him Down the Mountain Left Her Exhausted
Menghua was confused. “Why not? You can treat it like a way to lose weight.”
If it weren’t for the life-threatening situation, Qiu Yinuo really wanted to drag this damn panda out and give it a good beating.
Thinking of the spiritual spring in her space, she immediately used the water from it to clean Fang Qingsheng’s wounds.
“He’s badly injured, lost too much blood. I’m afraid his chances of survival are slim unless you let him soak in the spiritual spring for three days and nights. But, considering your stingy nature, that’s probably not going to happen,” 3224 commented.
Qiu Yinuo couldn’t bring herself to let someone die when she could help, but she also didn’t want to reveal her secret.
“Do you have any way to make him stay unconscious for a while?”
“You want to send him into the space?”
“Just tell me if you have a way.”
“Of course!” 3224 suddenly seemed more interested. “I have a hypnosis system that’s perfect for your situation. You can hypnotize him and make him believe everything is a dream. If you reach an advanced level, you could even make him forget everything. So, how about it? Aren’t you curious now?”
“Not really, but I can promise to bind the system to Dabao for you.” Qiu Yinuo thought, no matter how poor her methods were, she was Dabao’s mother, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
But the idea of carrying the burden of someone’s life for the rest of her own life didn’t sit well with her. Qiu Yinuo couldn’t imagine being happy under such circumstances.
3224 pouted, clearly displeased.
“Menghua, know when to stop. After all, you don’t have any achievements right now.”
It felt like a dagger had pierced its heart, directly to its lungs.
The panda swore that after completing this task, it would never return to this small world again. The people here were not friendly at all!
“Alright, alright, you send him in, and I’ll keep an eye on him. If he shows any signs of waking up, I’ll knock him out for you.”
Qiu Yinuo coughed twice, “Don’t hit him too hard, we are trying to save him, after all.”
After sending the man into the space, Qiu Yinuo dashed down the mountain.
At the foot of the mountain, she saw some villagers working, and immediately took the man out of the space and carried him on her back.
She called out loudly, “Help! Someone’s injured, please someone help me!”
Hearing her shout, several people dropped their tools and rushed over.
“What happened? Who’s injured?”
“Isn’t this the guy from the cow shed?”
“He got caught by a wild boar trap! Oh my god, his foot’s almost minced meat!”
“So much blood!” More and more people gathered around, and the men quickly lifted Fang Qingsheng off Qiu Yinuo’s back, while the women followed to watch the commotion.
“Yinuo, why did you go up the mountain?”
“I was picking wild vegetables and happened to come across him, so I carried him down,” she said, pretending to be out of breath.
Everyone believed her, giving her a thumbs up.
“Must’ve worn you out, huh?”
Qiu Yinuo nodded. “You have no idea. I’m exhausted, but luckily I ran into you all. Otherwise, I would have been drained myself.”
The incident quickly reached the village head’s ears. After all, the injury had happened in the village. If someone died, the village head would certainly be held responsible.
“Make way, let me see how serious the injury is.”
Soon, the crowd parted to let the village head through.
He hurried over, and when he saw Fang Qingsheng’s foot, which was mangled and bloody, he felt a pang of panic.
“His injuries are so severe, what are you waiting for? Quickly take him to the hospital!”
With the village head’s order, the young man who had been carrying Fang Qingsheng started running with all his might.
The village head slapped his thigh, shouting in frustration, “Get Old Zhang to bring out the ox cart. Carrying him like this will kill someone else from exhaustion!”
Qiu Yinuo had safely delivered Fang Qingsheng, and her heart finally settled.
Whether he lived or died from here on out, it was up to his fate.
After all, she had done everything she could.
Although she hadn’t actually carried him all the way down the mountain, she had raced down with him, shortening the usual half-hour journey by more than ten minutes. Now her legs were sore and heavy.
Qiu Yinuo went home to rest. Just as she was falling asleep, she heard a soft voice outside the door. “Sister Yinuo, there’s a man named Du looking for you.”
Still groggy, Qiu Yinuo couldn’t immediately recall anyone in the village with the surname Du, especially not an older man.
She got up from the bed. “I’ll be right out.”
When she opened the door, she was momentarily taken aback at the anxious, helpless expression of the man outside.
The man introduced himself first. “Hello, my name is Du Baichuan. I live in the cow shed with Fang Qingsheng. I just heard he was injured. You were the one who carried him down the mountain, right? How serious are his injuries?”
Another person from the cow shed. “His foot got caught in a wild boar trap. It’s pretty bad.”
Upon hearing this, Du Baichuan’s eyes filled with tears. “It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t gotten sick, he wouldn’t have had to go up the mountain to collect herbs…”
Before he could finish, he broke into a coughing fit.
Qiu Yinuo quickly stepped forward to support him, but Du Baichuan waved her off. “No need to help me.”
“Why didn’t you go to the clinic if you’re sick?”
Even though they only had the basic white pills, Western medicine worked quickly, though it took a while to fully cure things.
“The clinic is in the neighboring village. I went, but they wouldn’t treat me, saying people like us ‘stinking intellectuals’ don’t deserve help…” Du Baichuan’s words trailed off, and he realized it wasn’t the time to complain to a junior. “If it hadn’t been for me, Old Fang would never have gone up there. He doesn’t even know that many herbs…”
At this point, Du Baichuan turned to leave. “Sorry to bother you, Comrade Qiu. I’ll be going now.”
He still had to ask the village head for time off to visit a friend in the town’s hospital. At least someone needed to stay with him there.
But after taking just a few steps, Du Baichuan staggered and nearly collapsed.
Seeing this, Qiu Yinuo’s face turned pale. “Oh no, not another one fainting…” Before she could finish, Du Baichuan’s head tilted back, and he began to fall.
Thankfully, Qiu Yinuo reacted quickly and caught him. His burning body heat immediately transferred to her.
This old man was burning up; if this fever continued, he might be in serious danger.
“Qingqing, come help!” she shouted.
“I’m coming!”
Just then, Cheng Hongying returned and was startled when she saw the elderly man fainted. Her face turned pale. “Niu’er, what happened to Doctor Du… to the old gentleman?”
It was rare for Qiu Yinuo to hear her mother speak so respectfully about someone. “He has a fever.”
He Ziqing also came out from the room and was startled.
“Qingqing, come help me. His fever’s way too high—we have to get him to the hospital.”
Even though Cheng Hongying had a million questions, she didn’t dare waste a second. She immediately urged the two of them, “Quickly, take him to the hospital. Don’t delay his treatment. Do you have enough money? Oh, and if there’s no one to watch over him, go to your factory and find Jinzi. Tell him to go take care of him at the hospital.”
