Chapter 6: The Library Pavilion
Her social skills were so impressive that Qiu Yinuo couldn’t help but be stunned.
“Sister Yinuo, hurry and get in. I’ll push you home,” He Ziqing said eagerly.
Qiu Yinuo felt embarrassed to let a girl younger than her push her, especially since it wasn’t a short distance.
“Let the children lie down. I’ll walk with you back,” she suggested.
He Ziqing quickly waved her hand. “No, Auntie Cai said that after giving birth, your body is still weak, and you shouldn’t walk such a long way. Don’t worry, I’m really strong.”
Before Qiu Yinuo could refuse, He Ziqing had already pushed her onto the cart.
Indeed, she was strong!
Her entire shoulder went numb. Good grief, what on earth did this girl eat growing up to get this kind of strength?
With one chubby baby in each arm, Qiu Yinuo settled onto the cart. At that moment, the elder twin had already opened his sleepy eyes, trying to take in his surroundings. But the sunlight was too harsh, and he had to shut them again.
He Ziqing looked at the two chubby little ones and couldn’t help but feel fond of them.
“Sister Yinuo, I’m not just saying this to flatter you, but I’ve never seen any babies as good-looking as yours.”
The boys’ features really did resemble her own from her past life. That was probably why she’d accepted their presence so quickly.
“By the way, Sister Yinuo, have you thought of names for them?”
“I have.”
“What’s the older one called?”
“Shao Xingchen.”
Curled up in Qiu Yinuo’s arms, Shao Xingchen couldn’t help but open his eyes. It was the name he had in his past life.
He Ziqing grinned wide with delight. “Shao Xingchen sounds so nice! What about the second one?”
“Shao Beichen.”
She glanced at the younger one. His tiny, pink tongue licked his lips before he let out a faint snore with his eyes still closed.
“That’s a lovely name too. Sister Yinuo, you must have studied before, right?”
The original owner had studied until the second year of high school, but due to the poor environment and her father’s strong objections, she had stopped schooling after that.
“Mm, I studied a bit.”
“No wonder your name choices are so beautiful. Do they have any special meaning?”
Qiu Yinuo’s lips twitched slightly. There wasn’t really any deep meaning behind the names.
When she gave birth to the older twin, she had seen the vast, starry sky outside and thought it was beautiful. Later, when the younger one was born, the Big Dipper had stood out so brightly that she chose their names based on that.
Shao Xingchen let out a lazy yawn. Judging by that, it seemed like his mom hadn’t really put much thought into naming them.
As they chatted, they soon arrived home.
Although the Shao family lived in the city, it was on the border of the urban-rural junction, enjoying the benefits of having an urban household registration.
As soon as Qiu Yinuo returned, the neighbors rushed over to greet her.
Seeing those familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar faces, she tried to say as little as possible.
When the topic turned to her missing mother-in-law, everyone couldn’t help but sigh, lamenting her misfortune.
Aunt Yang, who lived next door, noticed that Qiu Yinuo looked a bit pitiful and quickly changed the subject. “Yinuo, I have to say, your distant cousin is really capable. This morning, before dawn, she washed the baby’s diapers and even chopped firewood for the house.”
“My cousin has been capable since she was little.”
After chatting with Qiu Yinuo for a while, the neighbors noticed she looked a bit tired and politely dispersed.
As soon as they left, Qiu Yinuo turned to He Ziqing, asking her to boil some water.
“Sister Yinuo, you’re still in your postpartum period. Washing your hair might not be a good idea.”
“He Ziqing, you promised me. You can’t back out now, can you?”
He Ziqing sighed helplessly. After taking care of Qiu Yinuo for a few days, she had been nagged every single day about washing her hair.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to dry it properly afterward, and I won’t let it be exposed to the wind.”
For someone like her who took a bath every day, enduring five days without washing her hair had already been her limit.
“Alright, you wait here. I’ll go close the windows and doors for you.”
Qiu Yinuo happily washed her hair, feeling lighter than she had ever felt before.
“Sister Yinuo, hurry up and dry your hair. I’ll go make lunch.” He Ziqing had already planned out her day, ensuring that Qiu Yinuo didn’t have to worry about anything.
While drying her hair with a towel, Qiu Yinuo casually looked around the room.
Everything seemed strangely familiar, but she attributed it to the original owner’s memories.
That was, until she noticed a photograph on the wall and couldn’t help but stare.
It was an old-fashioned frame, holding several photos of various sizes, but one black-and-white photo stood out.
No, to be more specific, it was the man in the photo who caught her attention.
With sharp sword-like eyebrows and long, thick lashes that shadowed his deep eyes, his features were strong yet delicate. Standing straight in a military uniform, he saluted with an air of respect that made him look imposing.
He was cold and handsome — definitely her type!
Qiu Yinuo couldn’t help but think back to the spring dream she had before coming into the book, where she had shamelessly clung to the man in her dream, asking for more and teaching him some rather difficult and unspeakable moves.
Upon closer reflection, the man in the dream was identical to the one in the photo.
During her hospital stay, she had been so busy taking care of the children and dealing with the discomfort from the afterbirth that she hadn’t really thought about Shao Chengyuan’s appearance. After all, she had only met him a few times.
But somehow, she found herself recalling the man’s embarrassed and angry voice in her dream, questioning her, “How do you know so much?”
What had she answered him back then?
“Of course, I couldn’t help myself when I saw you. It just came naturally to me.”
Oh my God! It wasn’t a dream — it was real!
Qiu Yinuo covered her face in shock, unable to believe that what had been a dream of flirtation had now become her reality!
Was there still a place for her in this world?
Unable to control herself, she leaned her head against the nearby wall. She just wanted to die right then and there, she couldn’t handle this.
He Ziqing brought the food to the table, but Qiu Yinuo’s face was still burning.
She could only curl up in her blanket, murmuring, “Qingqing, you eat. I need a moment to calm down.”
For the next period of time, she was too embarrassed to even look at Shao Chengyuan’s picture.
No matter how handsome he was, it couldn’t ease her fragile and humiliated heart.
He Ziqing reached out and gently touched her forehead. “Are you burning up from washing your hair? Oh, your forehead feels a bit warm!”
“I’m not burning up from a cold,” Qiu Yinuo replied.
“Then why are you feeling warm?”
“It’s from embarrassment,” she muttered.
“Ah?”
Qiu Yinuo waved her hand, “Don’t worry about me. I just need a moment alone to calm down.”
The smell of the food seemed to have a will of its own, teasing her nostrils with every passing second.
She managed to calm down for all of five minutes before her stomach began to growl loudly.
“Sister Yinuo, you’re feeding the babies now, so you must be really hungry. Let’s eat first, and then you can calm down some more.” Although He Ziqing didn’t understand why Qiu Yinuo needed to calm down, she was trying to be considerate.
“Okay!”
After eating the bland postpartum food and feeding both of the babies, the room grew quiet with only the three of them left.
As Qiu Yinuo looked at her two peacefully sleeping sons, she thought of the Library Pavilion from before she entered the book. She wondered if it had come along with her.
In the hospital, with so many people around, she hadn’t dared to risk entering it.
Although she knew that as long as the babies were asleep, He Ziqing wouldn’t enter, for safety’s sake, she locked the door and slipped into the Library Pavilion.
