Chapter 9: The Smell of Saliva
“This was what you fed me,” Li Mu shamelessly held onto Lu Xiaoxi’s finger.
What kind of feeling was it to have such a small finger in one’s mouth?
It was quite wonderful.
Lu Xiaoxi stood there in a daze, looking at her own finger.
There was still the moist saliva left by Li Mu on her finger.
Her beautiful big eyes blinked, and Lu Xiaoxi, realizing what had happened, felt her face turn as red as a ripe apple, all the way to her ears.
She… she had been nibbled by Li Mu.
There was still Li Mu’s saliva on her finger!
She realized too late… this act of feeding might have been too intimate.
Clearly, she and he were childhood friends who didn’t get along; how could they do such a thing!
Wuwu—
“Pervert, freak, pervert! I’m not playing with you anymore! I’m going to tell Aunt Su!” Lu Xiaoxi, with a flushed face and eyes misty, ran into her room.
She locked the door and curled up in her blanket like a frightened deer.
Her face felt hot, and it was so uncomfortable.
Lu Xiaoxi peeked out with half her head and one index finger, her heart racing.
She had been nibbled by this rogue Li Mu—
But it seemed like it was her fault for wanting to feed him green grapes…
Then, she decided not to tell Aunt Su; otherwise, it would be bad if Aunt Su misunderstood.
She kept replaying the scene of her finger being held in his mouth in her mind.
Lu Xiaoxi, almost unconsciously, brought her finger to her nose and sniffed; it smelled like Li Mu’s saliva, a bit stinky.
“How disgusting…”
She somewhat disdainfully hid her hand under the blanket, curling up.
In the living room, Li Mu was not so particular; he was thick-skinned and was actually happy to see Lu Xiaoxi embarrassed.
Moreover, he had already clearly rejected her; it was Lu Xiaoxi who kept feeding him, so he couldn’t be blamed.
He was just being wrongfully accused of being a rogue.
How could he not know what Lu Xiaoxi was thinking?
With Lu Xiaoxi’s silly appearance, how could she gain any advantage from him?
He had her completely under his control, knowing that Lu Xiaoxi wouldn’t dare tell her mom; her shy personality always made her the passive one in such seemingly intimate situations.
However, Lu Xiaoxi was indeed quite cute.
If, and only if, their relationship hadn’t turned sour, would they have developed into some special relationship?
More than friends, but not quite a couple?
Undeniably, Li Mu had indeed had such thoughts before; he had even jokingly said he would marry Lu Xiaoxi.
But now, thinking about it was enough; being ordinary friends was already very satisfying.
After all, they had grown up together, lived across from each other, and their families had a good relationship. If they were to cut ties, it would be so awkward when they met.
Don’t be fooled by how normal Lu Xiaoxi acted towards him; she might secretly hate him, wishing she could launch an intercontinental missile to bomb him.
Lu Xiaoxi hid in her room and didn’t come out; he had nothing to do, so he simply returned to his room to start typing.
The novel was nearing completion, and his motivation was even higher.
He typed until late into the night.
In her room, Lu Xiaoxi lay on the bed and unknowingly fell asleep.
She covered her forehead, thinking she probably wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
Having only been here for two days, her biological clock had already been completely disrupted.
It was now nine o’clock in the evening.
The smell of barbecue wafted in from outside the window.
She walked out of her room; the living room was dim, with no lights on, and there was no light coming from Li Mu’s room either.
But standing outside Li Mu’s door, she could vaguely hear the sound of typing inside.
“Li Mu, are you playing games?”
The typing stopped, and footsteps gradually approached, sounding like they were barefoot.
When the door opened, Li Mu indeed wasn’t wearing shoes.
“What time is it now?”
He had been so focused on typing that he lost track of time and only then noticed it was already dark outside.
Lu Xiaoxi looked into Li Mu’s room; the curtains were drawn, and only the faint light from the computer and keyboard was visible.
As long as it wasn’t class, she didn’t have the habit of wearing glasses; because of her nearsightedness, she couldn’t see what was on Li Mu’s computer.
“Playing on the computer like this is very likely to cause nearsightedness.”
“It won’t; I managed just fine in my first and second years of middle school, and I’m still doing well now,” Li Mu smiled, wondering if this was her way of caring for him?
“I don’t want to care about you. Are you hungry? If you’re hungry, I can cook some noodles for you.”
“Aren’t you eating?”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Today, the sun must have risen in the west; Little pig Lu actually isn’t having dinner.”
“You are the pig! I had lunch too late today, so I don’t want to eat now.”
“Then I won’t eat either; when I get hungry, I’ll go down to buy some late-night snacks. Just tell me what you want, and I’ll treat you.”
“When did you become so kind, actually taking the initiative to treat me to food? It’s like the sun has risen in the west.” Lu Xiaoxi mimicked Li Mu’s tone just now, especially that phrase about the sun rising in the west, sounding exactly the same.
Li Mu only placed second in the “Imitate Li Mu’s Speech” competition; the first place undoubtedly belonged to Lu Xiaoxi.
“Can you not imitate the way I speak?” Li Mu leaned in a bit closer; at his height of over 1.8 meters, he could see the top of Lu Xiaoxi’s head, where a few strands of hair formed a silly tuft, swaying with her movements.
If he pulled that tuft out, would Little pig Lu turn into Lu Dazhu?
“What do you want to do? Don’t you dare touch me, or I’ll tell Aunt Su,” Lu Xiaoxi took a step back, feeling a bit nervous.
As a girl alone with a boy, she was still a bit scared; Li Mu had a somewhat rogue vibe, having learned bad habits from those delinquents in middle school.
With him so close, if Li Mu put on that bad-boy smile, he would look like a handsome rogue!
The height difference made Lu Xiaoxi’s speaking momentum a bit weaker, sounding soft.
“I’m kindly inviting you to have late-night snacks, and you still want to tell my mom? Be a decent person.”
“Who told you to get so close? Your breath is blowing on my face!”
Li Mu deliberately took a deep breath and blew it all onto Lu Xiaoxi’s face.
“Taking advantage of me…” Lu Xiaoxi, wearing little slippers, stomped hard on Li Mu’s bare foot.
Although it didn’t hurt, Li Mu still covered his foot, looking as if he had suffered a fatal injury, his face contorted, shouting about needing “compensation.”
Lu Xiaoxi quietly stood at the door, watching Li Mu’s performance.
She thought Li Mu should sign up for the drama department, practice for two and a half years, and then debut as an actor; he would definitely become popular.
Seeing that Lu Xiaoxi didn’t respond, Li Mu awkwardly coughed twice.
“Are you going to eat late-night snacks or not?”
“I will eat; you treat me.”
If she wanted to eat, she should have just said so from the start.
Li Mu was speechless, feeling that girls, especially the not-so-friendly Little pig Lu, were particularly troublesome.
Whoever married Little pig Lu in the future would definitely be troubled to death, and whether they could afford to support her was another question; after all, Lu Xiaoxi ate three meals a day, with three bowls each meal, which was not easy to sustain.
Of course, he was an exception; at 19, he could support his living expenses by writing novels.
He didn’t know which unlucky guy would end up marrying Lu Xiaoxi in the future.
