Jiang Yuanxi rode back on Xuanwu just as the dishes were being set on the table.
The aroma of food filled the air, and laughter echoed inside the house.
“What smells so good?”
Hearing the voice, everyone inside knew that the little one had returned.
Now that the family was complete, Chen Xinwan lifted her daughter onto the table, and the family began their meal.
The elderly Old Madam Chen and Old Master Chen adored Jiang Yuanxi and kept piling food onto her plate.
Jiang Yuanxi ate everything without missing a bite.
Seeing her daughter devouring the food ravenously, Chen Xinwan asked, “Where have you been to be this hungry?”
Jiang Yuancheng, sitting nearby, quickly lowered his head, trying to make himself invisible.
“I went to catch an affair.”
Chen Xinwan’s hands trembled, and she fell silent.
The sound of eating at the table suddenly grew much quieter.
[“Auntie told me that Sima Pingting was playing ‘Stacking Blocks’ with a man.”]
“Pfft—”
Someone couldn’t hold back and spat out their rice.
Jiang Yuanxi, interrupted in her thoughts, turned her head to look, but the elderly Madam Chen quickly placed a piece of meat into her bowl, successfully diverting her attention.
The elderly Master Chen glared at his two sons.
Chen Tian’en and Chen Tianze immediately lowered their heads and focused on eating.
Eating the meat reignited Jiang Yuanxi’s curiosity.
[“But I asked around the entire city, and no one could tell me what ‘Stacking Blocks’ means.”]
“Cough, cough, cough!” Even Jiang Fengyuan, known for his thick skin, couldn’t hold it in.
She asked the entire city?
So now, the entire capital of Shengjing knew about this?!
Jiang Yuanxi’s eyes darted towards her father.
“Daddy should know what ‘Stacking Block’ means, right?”
Jiang Fengyuan’s face flushed red, and he quickly turned away to avoid Jiang Yuanxi’s gaze.
[“Why won’t Daddy look at me? Uncle should know.”]
Chen Tian’en and Chen Tianze hurriedly stuffed food into their mouths, avoiding eye contact.
Jiang Yuanxi then turned her attention to her two aunts.
Qiu and Tao immediately blushed.
Seeing everyone’s reactions, Jiang Yuansheng shook his head with a smile.
This whole ordeal was probably because of him.
A few days ago, while on an assignment, he had run into Sima Pingting.
She had boldly declared that she would marry into the Jiang family.
He had rejected her outright, but she had repeatedly sent people to block his way.
After several incidents, word had spread throughout Shengjing.
That must be why Yuanxi had led people to “catch an affair.”
Jiang Yuansheng’s eyes darkened.
If the Sima family found out about this, they would surely resent Yuanxi and might take action against her.
The next day, during the morning court session, as expected, Zheng Guang and the Emperor’s brother-in-law( The Grand Duke) jointly impeached Sima Dao for failing to discipline his daughter.
“Your Majesty, Sima Pingting, as an unmarried woman, has secretly kept a man, engaging in indecent conduct in public. This is a serious breach of morality.”
The Emperor frowned.
Although the shadow guards beside Yuanxi had already informed him of the matter, the impact was too great to ignore.
The Emperor glanced at the grim-faced Sima Dao. “Prime Minister, is this true?”
Sima Dao knelt down. “Your Majesty, I have failed to discipline my daughter. Please punish me accordingly!”
He had not been in a good mood throughout the session. Zheng, the “big mouth,” had listed accusations that left him unable to argue back.
The marriage proposal he had previously made to the Emperor—he didn’t dare to mention it now.
“Since that’s the case, then I shall—”
“Your Majesty!” The Grand Duke stepped forward. “I wish to accuse the Prime Minister’s son, Sima Yi, as well.”
The Emperor raised an eyebrow.
Had the Prime Minister angered too many people?
Why was the Grand Duke also getting involved?
“Sima Yi has engaged in multiple fights throughout Shengjing, even injuring my son and Princess Xihe. I plead for Your Majesty to punish him severely!”
Sima Dao was furious. “Your Excellency, when has my son ever injured them? I should be the one accusing Princess Xihe and your son! My son is still bedridden from their attack!”
Just then, the Duke of Chu stepped forward. “Your Majesty, I can testify on behalf of the Prime Minister.”
Immediately, several officials stepped forward to provide testimony—mostly parents of the children Jiang Yuanxi had beaten up.
Jiang Fengyuan stepped forward. “Nonsense! My daughter is only a little over one year old. How could she have beaten so many people?”
The Duke of Chu glared. “We have witnesses and evidence. Do you still dare to deny it?”
His son had been beaten twice by Princess Xihe, breaking three ribs. He was still lying in bed.
“I request that Your Majesty punish Princess Xihe!”
Many others joined in agreement.
Jiang Fengyuan refused to back down. “A dozen people? Beaten up by my daughter alone? Then your sons must all be weaklings! If you ask me, they deserved the beating!”
Some of the high-ranking ministers covered their mouths, trying not to laugh.
The Emperor coughed, attempting to regain order.
“Where is Jiang Yuanxi?”
The culprit was currently asleep in her elder brother’s arms, oblivious to the chaos she had caused.
When her brother woke her up and set her down, she was still a bit groggy.
“Is it mealtime?”
Still half-asleep, she stumbled forward, only to trip over her dress and fall flat on her face.
The ministers who had been demanding justice all fell silent.
They began to doubt—was it really this little girl who had beaten up their sons?
She couldn’t even walk properly!
The Emperor wanted to pick up the little one, but since the ministers were watching, he restrained himself.
“Yuanxi, tell me, did you beat up these officials’ sons?”
Jiang Yuanxi got up and rubbed her sleepy eyes.
“Whose sons? I don’t know them.”
She stood up, confused. “I’m hungry. I want milk.”
The officials who had accused her turned pale.
If word got out that their sons were beaten up by a milk-drinking toddler, how could they show their faces in public?
Even Sima Dao started to suspect that his son had lied to him.
A baby who still drank milk… how could she fight?
The Emperor, though knowing the truth, asked again, “Are you sure it was Princess Xihe?”
The once-aggressive ministers fell silent.
They knew what their own sons were like.
Before things got messier, they decided to stay quiet.
The Duke of Chu refused to give up. “Your Majesty, the princess possesses incredible skills! She once defeated the Great Demon of the Mu Prince’s residence! Beating up a dozen children would be nothing for her! Please investigate and punish Jiang Yuanxi!”
Jiang Fengyuan was livid.
The Duke of Chu, that lapdog of Sima Dao, was getting out of hand! He swore to ambush him and beat him up later.
At that moment, the Grand Duke of Han and Elder Master Chen stood up.
“Who gave you permission to punish my granddaughter?”
Ignoring the Duke of Chu, Elder Master Chen pointed at Sima Dao.
“You old scoundrel, Yuanxi is just a one-year-old baby! Are you trying to kill her?”
Hearing that she might get spanked, Jiang Yuanxi finally woke up completely.
“Who wants to spank me?” She looked around.
The Grand Duke of Han pointed with his chin.
Jiang Yuanxi marched up to the Duke of Chu and put her hands on her hips.
“So it’s you!”
She glared. “Your son, Chu Hong, is out gambling and up to his neck in debt! Why don’t you spank him instead?”
The court erupted into chaos again.
