A group of wealthy young masters sat together, chatting and laughing.
The servant brought up a few dishes to accompany the drinks as usual.
“Young master, everything is ready,” the servant said ingratiatingly, looking at Liu Xing.
Liu Xing picked up the twenty taels of silver from the table and tossed it to him.
The servant happily took the money and left.
“Liu Xing, do you think Jiang Yuanchen will find out what we’re doing?”
Liu Xing scoffed, unconcerned. “What’s there to be afraid of? We’ve already got the money. Even if that fool finds out, he won’t say anything.”
“Besides, as long as you don’t talk, who will know?”
For years, they had used their wealth to act domineeringly, and everyone around them knew their reputation.
One of the men immediately flattered him.
“Liu Xing, you’re amazing. A few words and you had that kid wrapped around your finger.”
Liu Xing gladly accepted the praise.
“Following me is much better than following that fool.”
Outside the door, Jiang Yuanchen lowered his head, his expression unreadable.
He stood there silently, listening to their arrogant conversation.
After a long while, he gently pushed open the door.
The laughter inside came to an abrupt halt.
Liu Xing immediately stood up and walked over to Jiang Yuanchen with a fawning smile.
“Big brother, you’re here! Please, have a seat.”
“Big brother, this is a new dish from Fude Restaurant. We’ve all been waiting for you to come.”
Liu Xing introduced the dishes one by one, unaware that Jiang Yuanchen had already overheard their conversation.
Jiang Yuanxi’s gaze fell on the table.
[Five dishes and a soup… quite elaborate. But at most, this meal would cost one tael of silver.]
Jiang Yuanchen’s anger burned. One tael of silver was enough to buy an entire feast, yet these people had been asking him for five hundred taels each time.
His face darkened. “Liu Xing, I have not treated you unfairly.”
Liu Xing came from a poor family and couldn’t afford the luxuries of the rich.
So, whatever Jiang Yuanchen had, he would always prepare a share for Liu Xing as well.
Liu Xing realized that Jiang Yuanchen had found out.
So he dropped the act.
Straightening his back and adjusting his sleeves, he sneered.
“So what? After all these years, I’ve had enough of bowing to you noble brats.”
“Why should you all have immense wealth while I’m stuck in a cold, shabby house?”
Jiang Yuanxi was stunned.
[Shameless and self-righteous. My poor brother, he must be heartbroken.]
She pointed at Liu Xing.
[Shameless! Brother, beat him up!]
After a long silence, Jiang Yuanchen raised his head, set Jiang Yuanxi down on the table, and glared furiously at the people before him.
Then he swung his fist.
“How dare you deceive me! I’ll beat you to death! I have money because my ancestors were rich—what does that have to do with you?!”
Jiang Yuanxi completely understood her fourth brother’s anger.
At this moment, he looked just like a noble lady who had been scammed out of her wealth and emotions.
Jiang Yuanxi lay on the table, watching with interest. Her gaze fell on the dishes beside her.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yuanchen finished beating up the group and even gave the servant a good thrashing.
Thanks to his previous training in the military, teaching these people a lesson was effortless.
“You have three days to return my money.”
Jiang Yuanxi, while eating and packing up food, also joined in delivering justice for her brother.
“Money!”
“Return it!”
One of the men was knocked to the ground in front of the table. Jiang Yuanxi didn’t hesitate to spit a mouthful of food onto his face.
Then, she picked up a plate and smashed it over his head.
The plate shattered into pieces, and the man’s forehead split open.
Jiang Yuanchen widened his eyes.
He had just discovered yet another amazing trait of his little sister.
Soon, the city patrol guards arrived.
Seeing three people lying on the ground, they immediately arrested Jiang Yuanchen.
Not long after, Jiang Fengyuan and Madam Chen appeared at the Ministry of Justice’s prison.
Jiang Yuanchen was dragged out by his ear.
“Mother, Mother, it hurts! Be gentle!”
“If you dare say one more word, see if I’ll still be your mother!” The always gentle Madam Chen had turned into a fierce tigress.
Fighting? And even fighting in front of the Ministry of Justice? Worse still, she found out he had snuck Jiang Yuanxi out with him.
Heavens knew how anxious she had been when she couldn’t find Jiang Yuanxi!
“Mother, I was wrong! Be gentle!”
Meanwhile, Jiang Fengyuan was speaking politely with Minister Li Wenbo.
Li Wenbo sighed. “The case is clear. Your son was deceived, which is why he acted. However, since Zhao Xing swindled such a large sum, he’ll have to serve a few years in prison.”
Jiang Fengyuan’s face turned red as he cursed in his heart. Just how much money did that brat lose?!
Li Wenbo frowned. “But your son was too heavy-handed. One of them might not wake up.”
Jiang Yuanxi quickly lowered her head.
[Not my fault. Don’t look at me. I didn’t hit him.]
Jiang Fengyuan and Madam Chen exchanged glances.
Jiang Fengyuan thanked Minister Li. “Many thanks for your fair judgment, Lord Li.”
The two of them took their children home.
Watching their retreating figures, Li Wenbo chuckled.
“A brother bringing his swaddled baby sister into a fight, and the father coming to bail them out—this is a first for me.”
Little did he know that in the future, his own son would also become a frequent guest of the Ministry of Justice.
As soon as they returned home, Jiang Fengyuan dragged Jiang Yuanchen outside.
He called it ‘a lesson in love.’
Hearing the screams from the other room, Jiang Yuanxi suddenly felt a bit sorry for her fourth brother.
[Scammed out of money and feelings, only to come home and get beaten by Dad. What kind of miserable life is this?]
Seizing the moment when Madam Chen wasn’t looking, Jiang Yuanxi quickly pulled out a small piece of beef from her pocket and stuffed it into her mouth.
She chewed with her few baby teeth.
Indeed, watching drama is best with snacks.
And good wine! Jiang Yuanxi lifted her milk bottle and took a big sip.
Satisfying!
Before the night even fell, Jiang Yuanxi’s stomach started aching.
Madam Chen hurriedly sent someone to fetch Doctor Sun.
Seeing their daughter’s scrunched-up little face, both parents were deeply worried.
Jiang Fengyuan asked anxiously, “Doctor Sun, how is she?”
Doctor Sun put away his tools. “Madam, the young miss has eaten food that is difficult to digest. Forgive my bluntness, but young children should not eat too much meat.”
The maids in charge of Jiang Yuanxi’s meals quickly explained, “Madam, the young miss only ate half a spoon of minced meat today.”
Jiang Yuanxi groaned, clutching her belly.
As she rolled over uncomfortably, a piece of beef slipped out of her clothes.
And a large chicken drumstick—with two tiny bite marks.
There was no need to ask who had eaten it.
Madam Chen opened her daughter’s outer robe, revealing an assortment of wrapped meat dishes.
She had even brought back the chicken head.
As for why there was no chicken body? It was too big—it would’ve been too easy to get caught.
Madam Chen was both exasperated and amused.
Doctor Sun prescribed medicine, and the maids escorted him out.
Meanwhile, Jiang Fengyuan, unable to hold back, went to beat up Jiang Yuanchen again.
If not for that troublemaker, Yuanxi wouldn’t have suffered.
Jiang Yuanwu, just back from the army, heard what had happened.
So, he and Jiang Yuanfeng teamed up for a “family-style disciplinary session.”
Jiang Yuanxi finally recovered.
But her heart was shattered.
She had suffered so much, and yet—her meat was gone.
Her dishes were gone.
Not even a peanut remained.
And worst of all, she had only taken one bite of that chicken drumstick!
